  1. I have never seen a fresh turkey with gluten. A few might have a sealed packet to make gravy with flour, but the turkey is gluten-free.
  2. I doubt they will decide to do a colonoscopy at a doctor appt. with all the prep you have to do. You should have time to gluten up. Open Original Shared Link However, if you are diagnosed with DH that is an automatic diagnosis of Celiac. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  3. I don't know about this run-off chocolate :fact". I eat Snickers of various sizes and have not had issues. In the case of Snickers & M&Ms, from Mars, the company has been labeling things made on shared equipment with a "may contain wheat" statement. For some reason, my computer isn't letting me copy links. Its mentioned in the gluten-free Halloween...
  4. I think you have to find what is helpful for you and your unique symptoms. A clear liquid diet might be very helpful for diarrhea. Some find that eating light foods like some rice in chicken broth or Cream of Buckwheat cereal is helpful. I find that rice Chex and lots of water work well for me.
  5. What I'm saying is...if she isn't following your mom's rules, she should move out. But that is for your mom to decide. If your mom thinks the behavior is OK , you will have to work around it. Maybe lock up your safe food? Look at the links on this thread and show them to her and your mom? https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/105148-amount-of-gluten-in...
  6. I'm a bit leery of them because of the other "tests" they run. I would hope the gene tests would be reliable.
  7. I think your mom should lay down the rules to your sister. It is your mom's house. Does your mom " believe" your diagnosis and cc, etc? For your boyfriends mom, does your boyfriend " get it"? Maybe he could speak to her first? Or the two of you together? For myself, I wouldn't expect her to fix food for me. But I would want her to understand why...
  8. I'm curious what they charged. Quest charges about $370 plus $20 blood draw fee if they do it. I submitted it to my insurance but not sure if they will pay. Sometimes, the cost of filing and waiting and trying to get info from the doctor to submit, etc can take 6-12 months so it makes sense to get a discount for paying cash.
  9. This would make a good topic in the gluten free labeling section. We could link to different agencies and companies and their testing policies. Might be very helpful, especially for New members.
  10. Thank you for clearing up which certification/labeling of gluten-free you are talking about. We seem to have various versions of gluten free labeling in the US right now so not everything is tested to 10 ppm. Many members will post that something is certified gluten free but not be referring to the same agency you are. Thus, my comment that they shouldn...
  11. Certified gluten free only needs to be to 20 ppm , in the US, when the law goes into effect. So, my point is, you can't be sure they are testing at less than 10 ppm without asking. Many do use lower tests.
  12. Its so highly processed it has no gluten. For myself, mannitol, no matter what the source, bothers me. Not gluten issue.
  13. Gene test by Quest - $366. Plus a $20 draw fee.
  14. You are replying to a comment from 6 years ago. Products, ingredients and manufacturing practices could well have changed in that amount of time.
  15. Here is a summary of a study that was conducted. They looked for damage in the small intestines. So...in a way, your parents might be right that the tiny crumb won't hurt you. But, can they guarantee that that is the only tiny crumb you get all day? Of course not. So we need to eliminate tiny crumbs we know about, to help protect ourselves from the...
  16. Maltodextrin might be a bit confusing with the " malt" part. But it doesn't have gluten.
  17. I think the people to answer the questions about how they are made would be the company? There are things in gluten-free baking that are not always in gluten baking - like gums. These gum can be a problem for people to digest (not a gluten issue). It looks like they may have discontinued the baking mixes. Maybe just some left on store shelves?
  18. And it will probably be one of the more useful for living your life talks.
  19. Melinda Dennis is on today. She is legit!

  21. Were you diagnosed with Celiac? An allergy is different from an autoimmune response. But it sounds like you know that already. I'm wondering, if you don't believe the Celiac research doctors, why would you believe some strangers on the Internet? I know it's not great to be diagnosed with Celiac. I get the feeling you are trying to " get out...
  22. If you have a problem with an alcohol, you should avoid it, gluten or not. Open Original Shared Link
  23. Check out the Newbie thread. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Also, lots of good info on the university of Chicago Celiac Center website. Open Original Shared Link Unlike an allergy, Celiac doesn't go away. You can't cure it with a rotational diet, etc.
  24. o There are plenty of gluten free/ oat free vitamins. No need to risk one with non- gluten free oats. I'm sure in the last year that the OP Has found something safe
  25. I'm hoping to find these chips and serve them at Thanksgiving, just for fun. Are they a side dish or a dessert?
