    ARCHIVED Questions

From your post yesterday - I would think it was the soy sauce in the dressing or cc of the salad someone else made. Look for the obvious gluten sources first. I think I said that yesterday?
  2. For the most up-to-date info, email or call the company. Don't be surprised if you get a CYA type response like : no gluten ingredients but don't test for gluten. If that is the case, I would be OK with them.
  3. Maybe you could find out the manufacturer of the one they want to give you and call them for the full ingredients list? Maybe the ingredients are on the bottle & they could show that to the doctor?
  4. Here's my unscientific results so far: I have had 1 cup a day (from tea bags). I was noticing that some stiffness in joints seemed less. Yesterday, I didn't have any. Woke up several times with pain in hips and shoulders. My feet and fingers are stiff this morning. I'm drinking some right now!
  5. Exactly! Its a good deed! Or she's recycling!
  6. I think the person in the chair is attacking the gator! BBQed - they taste like chicken! I hear they are good fried. Gators - not people in wheelchairs
  7. I have not found any sprays that are not gluten-free. Except - Baker's Joy and any other baking spray with flour added. It should be very obvious in the ingredients. Most of them seem to have soy, so it soy is an issue: You could do one of these with whatever oil you like: Open Original Shared Link Sometimes i just wad up a paper towel and...
  8. And the crocodiles read these signs to understand the danger of run-away senior citizens?
  9. There is no evidence to support this internet rumor that one color of Gatorade has gluten and the other colors do not. From a manufacturing perspective, it wouldn't make sense either. I have seen that people have problems with some food dyes but not all. This is not due to gluten.
  10. Gluten cannot be absorbed through the skin. Many of us choose to not use gluten containing products that may get in out mouths. Some people may have an allergic reaction to products on thier skin separate from Celiac. Here's just one reference, there are many other reliable ones: "Gluten must be ingested to be cause for concern for someone with...
  11. Pork chops marinated in Whorchestshire sauce and pepper and cooked on the grill. Foil packets of red skin potatoes in olive ol & Italian seasoning & salad. He cooked some chicken for enchiladas tomorrow night.
  12. I think what we are trying to say is you should question the wisdom of this odd diet. We are not trying to be mean to you. We really think you have gotten some questionable "medical" advice and are trying to show you the inconsistencies or problems with it. If your "doctors" can't explain it so it makes sense, maybe it doesn't? There are diets...
  13. We think the flour thing is a bit confusing. Many "flours" are not made out of grains. For example, are you allowed almonds? Almond flour is just crushed almonds, so there would be no difference. Even vegans & raw diets use things like almonds. Also, why tropical fruits but not apples? or grapes? They are full of sugar, too.
  14. Sorry about Big Boy. Cooper and Gracie don't play together. But I'll make sure we keep Coop away. Gracie does come when called about 75% of the time! Better percentage than teenagers! Though, like teenage boys, she does come 100% of the time if she hears the refridgerator door open and then is called. Maybe I'm on to something & go on...
  15. What tom said...plus, Did you have any blood work for Celiac before this?
  16. I don't want to chance her getting out and staying out. there have been several cats that appear to have been eaten by a coyote in the last few weeks. Gracie loves the screened porch. One corner puts her over the bird bath and near the bird feeder.
  17. Has anyone tried to walk thier cat on a leash? Or put her in the yard on a long lead? (while you are outside with her, of course). Cooper would like to take his cat out in the yard.
  18. We have had the discussion on the barley beer, too. Turns out the tests used to find wheat in food are not s accurate to find barley gluten in beer. When they test witht the corrrect test, it shows higher levels of gluten. The ATF is not allowing barley based beers to be labelled gluten-free any longer.
  19. Blue chesses are safe for Celiacs. There has been info on this site about it being tested and how it is really made nin modern times. You say you bought a prepared salad? And a salad dressing with soy sauce which usually has wheat? Was there any meat that may have been marinated? The chances of cc on the salad and the wheat in the soy sauce are probably...
  20. Even if you don't have Celiac, you may have gluten intolrance and would need to eat gluten-free. Fromthe Univ of Chicago Celiac center: "What is gluten sensitivity? Gluten sensitivity is an adverse food-induced reaction, possibly immune-mediated, but for which we have no diagnostic test available. This is a reaction in the digestive tract that causes...
  21. Wouldn't make sense to put gluten in your eyes. Open Original Shared Link Bright lights are a migraine trigger. When your eyes are dialated, they are more susceptable to bright light. Your eyes can't close up to keep the light out like they usually do. You know how the black part in the middle is really big when they are dialated? When you are in...
  22. You can't get Libbys? It shows pie on the front, but read the ingredient. Its only cooked & mushed pumpkin
  23. My son said Colorado State dorm was very good about gluten-free food. At the deli sandwich line - off with the gloves, hands washed, a purple "tray" comes out, then the wrapper paper, then the gluten-free bread and toppings from a special place. gluten-free food on the line is not mixed up with other food or utensils. Many packaged gluten-free snacks that...
  24. You should post the names of the tests, the results and the "range" of low to high. I think that's what you are asking?
  25. Not really sure what is going on here. You post links to restauraunts' gluten-free menus. Then you post about how you wouldn't eat at them. Also, these menus change often. Some I have seen even say they are good for a few months at a time. Something to keep in mind for anyone who might read these lists later.
