    ARCHIVED Burritos!

K8 - that baby sure wNts some crazy foods! He is going to come out wanting a pizza and Gatorade with a burrito for dessert! I tried some tortills at a food show but haven't found them yet. I think the name was French Meadows or something similar. They are frozen. When that baby starts wanting margritas, get some limade.
  5. Happy birthday, Patti! Enjoying the cold rain I sent you? I re- gifted. First Rachelle sent it to us.
  6. Why don't they do "both ends" (endo & colon) at once? It would save time & money from doing one one day and the other another day. He can biopsy the small & large intestine & have a nice look at the stomach while he's there. you have been gluten-free for a short time, so if you want to stay gluten-free, its now or never. Just make...
  7. I know how you feel. When I first went gluten-free, I tried to limit my cheese but I couldn't cut it completely. I didn't eat cheese on my eggs then a grilled cheese then enchiladas for dinner. Just one of those in a day. Annatto is in yellow cheeses but white cheddar, moz, pram, etc shouldn't have any. It's also probably on butter. It sounds like...
  8. I have a recipe for a "spice" cookie. It's a bit soft and has ginger, cinnamon & clove. I'll try to post it tomorrow. It's on the main computer. There is a kid on it pretending to do homework.
  9. Love what Jess said! Hi Horseshoe! I had that strange feeling I was being watched.
  10. When we needed furniture for the kids rooms, we thought about renting a Uhaul and going to the nearest IKea which I think is the one near Chicago at that time.
  11. Could it just be the cheese? Milk products can be very hard to digest especially if you still have intestinal damage. The part that Celiac destroys is the part that digests milk.
  12. For myself, I don't worry about mascara. It doesn't get in my mouth or on my fingers so that it could get on my food.
  13. I don't think that was on there earlier. You are a minor. You need to talk to the school counselor. Tell them you have a diagnosis and your parents refuse to treat your illness. Do you have a grandparent or other relative who might help you? A pastor? Call the doctor's office. See if the doc will talk to your parents. Maybe send you and your mom to...
  14. Run, don't walk, to the Dermatologist. See if you can get the break out biopsied. They need to biopsy the skin next to the blister to check for antibodies. That could give you your official diagnosis.
  15. This has nothing to do with BE? Then you are sick!
  16. No it doesn't give him permission to agree to treatment. That is part of HIPPA. It just says that if they call your house to give the results, they can tell him. Or if he calls with a question, they could talk to him about it. When we starting writing this law 20 years ago, we intended it to be more protective of your medical info. For some reason, this...
  17. I think in the US this is Federal. If a husband could force his wife to get medical procedures done....Scary!
  18. Actually, only if she is mentally incompetant. Maybe suspected incompetant. May still be some states, if she is under 18, a older husband could. I think that has been done away with.
  19. Actually ER tests are a bit different. When you sign permission to be treated, you usually are agreeing to all the standard procedures of the ER. Pregnancy tests are standard in the ER for many reasons and illness & injuries. I would get my results in hand and then tell the doctor, in writing if that's easier, that you did not agree to the celiac...
  20. if you pay rent, you should have equal say in the running, chores, expenses & rules of the household. However, if these were just 2 roommates who wouldn't work with you, you would move out as soon as your lease was up ( or kick them out). Your parents are grown-ups. If they refuse to even try to keep the crumbs away from you and your food, you will...
  21. Technically, the doc ordering a blood test you don't want is battery. I really doubt the D.A. Would prosecute it. The only time it is OK for a doctor to order a blood test or other test without the patient's knowledge or permission but because the next of kin ( hub) asks for it, is if the person appears to have something like Alzheimer's. Even then, it...
  22. Are you diagnosed? Why did you decide to go gluten-free? Watch some cooking shows. That will help you to understand some of the concepts of cooking.
  23. I had another thought while I was taking a shower. If you still want to live with them, for whatever reason, this might work. You have to be prepared to follow thru if it doesn't. Make a budget, check out the costs of apartments then, with that info in hand, tell them you are moving into your own place. Give them the objective reasons why - very factual...
  24. We have a mixed household as I am the only gluten-free person. 2 teen boys and a hub eat gluten. They are careful. There is no sticking hands into a box of Chex or bag of nuts. We pour it out. Better for not spreading germs, too. I think a shared kitchen could work if your parents wanted it to. Obviously, for some reason they don't. Its thier kitchen...
