  1. I feel like that sometimes, too. I can't really answer your question scientifically. I think certain things are not going to happen if you have a healed small intestine. It also seems that if you have one auto immune disease you are more likely to get another.
  2. Chumm! Chumm! Smack! Chumm! Delicious! Thanks, Patti!
  3. It was around 50 yesterday and today. Might be 70 on Thur! Then its back to the 20s and raining in time for M to go camping on Sat.
  4. Congrats! I think that would be a great FB status! Poop is always a popular topic on this site!
  5. I'm the only Celiac right now. Lots of our meals are gluten-free just cause they would be anyway. They have regular bread & crackers. They and the toaster for them are on a small counter by itself with the crackers in the cabinet.. I usually make regular pasta for the teens. I have a separate set of pots, toaster, red spoons, & red colander for...
  6. They haven't warned me yet! Whooooo Hoooo! Do they warn people for being a silly smart a$$?
  7. OMG LO! You're falling apart. My boys have offered totightened up your bolts & replace your battery. Clark will have to be responsible for rotating your tires. I think Patti should get a house and take in boarders. Clark could live with her. We went to PF Changs tonight for V Day! Had the Street Noodles and Spicy Chicken & egg drop...
  8. I have made lots of meals without wheat flour before I went gluten-free. Chili, soups, stew, BBQ chicken, various potatoe dishes, Mexican stuff ( use corn tortillas), stir fry ( use the gluten-free tamari soy sauce), salad, etc. You might need that stuff for baking but you don't need dessert e everyday. There are a couple of recipes on here for gluten...
  9. Too bad for the insurance company! An endo by itself will cost them twice as much. Cheaper to double up with the colonoscopy. Did you say if you had any celiac blood tests? Wordy is OK. If we get bored, we'll skip over.
  10. We will be going to Chicago the end of March for a FIRST Robotics competition. It's at the UIC but we will be staying in Elmhurst. Found one Italian place with a limited gluten-free menu but it's too expensive to take the team. Any suggestions? I'll have at least a microwave and a fridge, so I won't starve. As I am a chaperone, it would be good if I...
  11. What about Mayo? I know the waits can be long. You could make an appt and still try to find someone else in the meantime.
  12. For thickening a soup , chili or stew: Rip up corn tortillas and let cook down. Instant mashed potatoes Potato or corn starch Rapid tapioca (1/3 cup in crockpot for beef stew) If I just need a spoonful of flour, I just use Pamelas baking mix Cook some potatoes in small pieces. Take some of them & some broth out when the soup is cooked...
  13. Hi Nancy! What a shame your GI didn't think of Celiac before the colonoscopy! I would be pretty mad that she didn't do an endoscopy with biopsies while she had you there. Good luck! Hope going gluten-free helps.
  14. Since went gluten-free, my hub says we have had a lot of really good food. And we have tried a few different things. We have made things we might have gotten at a restaurant. Potato skins are cheaper & healthier at home. We don't use alot of special gluten-free foods except some bread, pasta and pizza crust.
  15. They are gluten-free. The op was looking for some that said "gluten-free". Then they started talking about dried lentils which it appears you have to wash and sort thru well.
  16. It may be that they don't know the official " status" of the chips because they are not made by them. Or that different melting pots buy from different suppliers. My BIL is trying to get a gluten-free certification for his restaurant. He has to have a complete list of all the ingredients of any product he buys that is pre made, like mayo or ketchup....
  17. You might have what we have here - bakeries that distribute to grocery stores but don't have a actual store of thier own.
  18. If you think the ped won't do just the blood test, call and tell them you have a GI appt and he wants you to get the blood tests from the peds office. He wants you to bring the results to the first appt. Unfortunately, we sometimes have to play these little games to get what we need.
  19. The ped should do the blood work now. This will speed up the process with the GI. My ped did ordered the blood work for my boys. My primary care doc ordered it for me. The GI then can do the endoscopy.
  20. Good thing you didn't. He might have eaten a whole wheat bread sandwich and glutened you! Great to find a doc that seems to know what he's doing.
  21. When my kids were little and had gas that wouldn't move on, I would hang them upside down by holding their legs for a minute. Then stand straight up. The real trick is to get the hips straight above the chest. this will work really well in a skirt, at the office.
  22. Ditto to all of the above. I use some red duct tape to put on my butter, PB, etc. I also got red spoons and a red colander for the gluten-free stuff.
  23. Hey, we're all in this together - the odd, the grumpy, the psilly, the good, the bad & the ugly.
  24. \ Wow! Too bad its not gluten-free. It even says its not gluten-free on the website. Peter's cartoon reminds me of J going to a robotics competition with the robots , motors, batteries, wires packed in the checked suitcase. On top, he put a printout of the event and a list of what the parts were in case it got chosen to be inspected.
