  1. I think it coats the stomach, etc so it will show better on xray. It's "not envasive". An endo or colonoscopy sends a snake like thing down into the stomach & intestines or up the other way. You can take pics or little nibbles or even remove something a little bigger like a polyp. I think barium is OK in small doses. It's not like you would want...
  2. I hope they leave it all at the cottage. What is the hot dog thingie for Xmas this year? My dog won't care, he only loves his squeaky tennis balls and frozen pb filled Kong.
  3. Pets gotta eat! At least that's what mine have always said!
  4. I'm really dense. I didn't read your name. I'm a wheat free Kansan, too!
  5. I know several people who are not Celiac and have had problems with this. I think it must be hard on most people, if that's any comfort! Drink lots of water and flush that stuff out! Feel better soon!
  6. Hi RozzyRay ( cool name). I'm happy to hear that your parents are supportive. When I first went gluten-free I had a lot of anxiety attacks, not full panic attacks, in regards to food. I would say to not put yourself in scary situations like dinner at someone's house, until you really have a plan and will stick with it -Like bring your own food and not...
  7. I don't know if they are required to give you a fridge. I try to only book hotels that have one. However, when no fridge is around, we would stop at a grocery or Walmart & buy a cheap cooler & paring knife to keep milk, fruit & cheese in. Bring or buy some plastic baggies or containers for the ice machine ice. Also, bring extra baggies &...
  8. It's not just gluten-free food hospitals have a hard time with. My 82 yr old mom had a hip replacement. Her blood sugar was going nuts - up & down. They started giving her insulin which she doesn't take at home. They let her order anything she wanted except dessert. This is what they thought was safe - hamburger with bun, baked potato, applesauce...
  9. They have really left? Transient relatives have a way of staying and staying and staying.... Even ghosts can't scare some of them.
  10. I knew you would know. I promise this time I will print it and keep it in a safe place. I also promise that in a couple of months, I will have forgotten where the safe place is.
  11. The high fructose corn syrup can be very hard for some to digest. Some can't have it at all. My son has found that if he has food with HFCS he has no issues. On an empty stomach sometimes it bothers him and doesn't feel right for a couple of days.
  12. Hen House in OP, KS
  13. Don't know about the list, but I know that when in doubt buy Kraft products. They always identify the gluten, not just in wheat.
  14. I know our insurance through work cannot deny based on preexisting conditions. They change insurance companies every year. People change jobs all the time and get new insurance. Go to your Human Resources Dept and ask. Don't go into each illness, just ask the general question about pre-existing conditions. If you feel you must say something, pick something...
  15. I would tell the camp counselor about this and use peanut allergy as an example. My son works at a day camp and the kids fight over who will he sit by to eat lunch. Maybe, a counselor can sit nearby to make sure this stuff doesn't go on. 5 year olds don't understand the damage the crumbs can cause. They need to understand that you don't touch other people...
  16. My understanding is that there are many types of mold. The blue/green stuff on bread is way different then the black stuff behind your refrigerator. That is probably the really bad stuff you hear about. The mold in the air here right now that's makeing me & the neighbor's dog have the sniffles, is a different strain, too. 100 degrees, humidity makes...
  17. Where I live, an official dx is needed to get official help in school. I think most teachers would help without it. I have heard on here that colleges require notes from doctors for gluten-free food in dorms. And even then, some of them won't honor that. I have used my official note from my doctor to take food in places that don't allow that normally...
  18. I think there is mold on lots of things. There is mold on the bread before it has grown big enough to see. So it would be hard to avoid.
  19. This is what my Hub says about these type of situations. Guys like to fix a problem not talk about it. Guys are sometimes afraid to do something that has been your "job". If he gets told he's not doing it right too many times he won't try anymore. Most guys don't mind helping but need to know that you need help. So ask!
  20. On perscriptions, you want to find out before you buy them and leave the pharmacy if they are gluten-free. Get the info from the pharmacist and call first. If you take them home & they aren't gluten-free, you might be able to get a new script from your doc but your insurance won't pay for the same med twice. The pharm most likely won't take them back...
  21. you might want to seal up the heating/AC ducts well. Use duct tape or duct tape and plastic. Dust gets in the air ducts and can blow around the rest of the house for days.
  22. I live in Kansas City. The website might tell you if they are in your area. Rusticcrust.com The company is in New Hampshire.
  23. Just found these in my grocery with the Bobolis and other brands of partially baked pizza crusts. Haven't tried them yet. They do have soy.
  24. I went in one of those "discount" hair care products store to find a new shampoo. The company of the shampoo had sent me some suggestions but I wanted to read the ingredients just to be sure. The price tag was stuck on the ingredients on every bottle. I got a manager and said I needed to read the ingredients to see if I could have it. Asked me what I...
