  1. Jason, are you there? Are you listening?
  2. You can edit your own post for 48 hours after making it. If you become aware of a serious error after the window has closed, make a report explaining what needs to be corrected. One of us who can will make the edit for you. The report button is at the lower left corner of each post, including your own.
  3. Welcome to the board. If you have a biopsy-confirmed diagnosis of celiac disease, it is all but certain to be correct. False negatives abound, but false positives are extremely rare. Celiac disease has a genetic component, but not everyone with the "right" genes will become a celiac. Something has to trigger the activation of the condition. Infections...
  4. I really can't comment on the Wendy's question, but I have been following the McDonalds question closely since the day it first came up here, just over four years ago. A wheat-derived ingredient is used in a flavor added to the oil in which the fries are partially fried before freezing. This is true in the United States, but not in Canada. I believe the...
  5. Merrick BG products are all grain- and gluten-free.
  6. There were two topics which were essentially the same, but they were not identical. I have merged them. It is not uncommon for a celiac to exhibit no symptoms, while still having detectable damage to the villi. I have had the endoscopy twice, and it is not a big deal.
  7. This topic is almost five years old--product specific information may be out of date. It has been a while for me, but I have had Frito's Original Corn Chips with no problems in the past.
  8. Jason, what is wrong with you? You met a woman who has shown obvious interest in you. She saw you as you appear right now, and is interested. This is not the time to run away and hide behind self-doubt. There may be some challenges to come, but seize this opportunity. You have nothing to lose. Please see this is a win.
  9. Gluten Free Pantry French Bread Mix (makes great pizza crusts too). Oreo substitute: K-Toos from Kinnikinnick (sp?). I can't eat them often due to the sugar content (diabetes), but you can't tell they aren't Oreos. I have never tried a Glutino product that I did not like. We enjoy El Peto Italian Style Hamburger Buns. I don't know how widely available...
  10. Anne, there are so many things to celebrate. You know what was causing your problems, and are now in control of your life. You have a loving family who must be happy to see you better. With some work, you can live a normal life and not be sick all the time. I don't know Chicago well, although I have deep roots there (my parents met as...
  11. Welcome to the board. Time to heal depends on many things, but if you are seeing no progress at all, two possibilities come to mind. There may still be some hidden gluten sneaking into your diet. You may be intolerant to something else besides gluten. Many have to cut dairy, at least during the healing process. Soy is another common intolerance....
  12. No worries about your typing and spelling. Your message was clearly understandable. Two months in, you should be seeing improvement. Are you sure you are not still getting gluten from something you haven't identified yet?
  13. Some places have dedicated fryers for their fries (McDonalds is one such place).
  14. Welcome back, Julie!
  15. Sounds like a plan to me. Cheers!
  16. In my end stage, vomiting was one of my symptoms, but it is less common than other symptoms. You absolutely can have celiac disease and not vomit. At the other end of the scale, my journey though celiac hell included (more than once) the experience of sitting on the toilet with uncontrollable diarrhea whilst simultaneously vomiting into a bucket.
  17. Janet mentioned some reasons for a child/young adult to need the documentation. From the perspective of an adult with celiac disease, there may be some advantages. If you are admitted to hospital, having a recorded diagnosis may help to have the hospital take your need for gluten-free food seriously. If you are in the United States, the Americans with...
  18. It is, although not everyone wanting to meet fellow celiacs here is looking for a date. Whatever floats your boat works here.
  19. Five years later, this is still true. General Mills shares this label policy with Unilever and Kraft, among others. Product formulas may have changed, but the policy regarding clear disclosure of any gluten has not. ALWAYS READ LABELS.
  20. Please note that this topic is almost five years old, so some of the information may be out of date. Kraft will always label gluten clearly, so you can just read the label. Caramel color is gluten-free. Modified food starch, if from wheat, must be so labeled in the US. It is almost invariably corn--in almost ten years on the diet I have never found modified...
  21. I disagree. This sounds like the old caramel color urban myth. Rum is never made from grain, and caramel color is safe.
  22. I know of no reason for concern with respect to any of those containing gluten.
  23. To achieve the privilege of having a custom title, you must have at least 501 posts. You only need 326 more.
