  1. Then, go to the main index page and all times will then be presented according to the new setting.
  2. The end draws near on a long reign, but a new beginning awaits.
  3. Em, wonderful, wonderful news! Hooray for Charles, and for you and your family.
  4. As rwg said, there is a difference between acceptance and retention. While celiac disease is a 100% barrier to joining the military, it will not necessarily lead to an immediate discharge upon diagnosis. It will depend on the service, and what he does within the service. For me, my diagnosis was life-changing. But it was not the end of my life, it was...
  5. If you know of a meat product that contains hidden rye or barley, please tell us the name of the product, and the source of your information. The collective members here have never identified one. There are some sausages with beer, but in every case that I am aware of it is clearly labeled.
  6. It was not so for me personally, but mono is commonly reported as a trigger for celiac disease.
  7. While it may be interesting to speculate on how things were decades ago, we live in the present. Under the FALCPA legislation, in effect for over four years now, both milk and wheat must be clearly disclosed on the label.
  8. If the skillet is in good condition, and was cleaned thoroughly, then there should be no special issues just because it is a non-stick pan. Anything that is shared between gluten-free and regular food needs to be washed properly after use with gluten-containing foods. That applies equally to your plates and utensils as well. A dishwasher is good.
  9. Not yet, but it is getting close. Janet has been Queen for 80 days now, but the longest reign was her immediate predecessor at 92 days.
  10. That is my understanding as well. I don't know what they are concerned about.
  11. This post by me in this thread about six months ago is worth re-posting, it seems.
  12. The weather stayed dry and we have our access ramp back in place. Par-Tay time for Rachelle! Mucho wodka.
  13. Rain is a concern for today. Most of you know that Jacquie and I operate a retail store in Toronto. It is in a very old building, and the door is two steps up from the parking lot. We have an access ramp, but cannot keep it from icing up in the winter, so we dismantle and store it over the winter. If it does not rain, we will assemble it today while...
  14. Just a quick hello! Nuffin psilly to contribute just now. Mayber later if it doesn't rain.
  15. If you have unread messages, an orange square with the number in it will be to the left of your name. Clicking it will take you directly to your unread messages.
  16. While this might be true in some places (although I highly doubt it), it is most certainly not the case in the United States or Canada. Gluten in prepared meat is extremely rare. In the US, if wheat is present, no matter how small the quantity, it must be clearly disclosed on the label.
  17. It was discussed here recently that Nathan's have changed their ingredients and current production is gluten-free. Old product could still be around--read the label. We are not aware of any hot dog in the US that currently contains gluten.
  18. In my almost ten years at this, I have never seen any credible evidence that meat of any kind ever contains gluten, unless it is added during processing. I've seen speculation and heard rumors, but never any actual credible evidence. Until I see evidence, I will not believe it.
  19. Returning to the original issue, Swiss Chalet is a franchised chain. Some locations have dedicated fryers, typically the larger ones. Smaller ones share the fryers. If it is a take-out only food court or similar site co-located with Harvey's you can bet that the fries and onion rings are fried together.
  20. Maltodextrin, at least in North America, is made from corn and is not a gluten concern. Yeast extract is gluten-free, but does contain MSG to which some people (including some celiacs) react.
  21. Well, they don't have a dedicated factory for just the onion soup. Never have. But that does not automatically mean that the onion soup contains gluten. Make your own decision. I consider the type of product. In this case, there are noodles in the other soups. It's not like there is loose flour flying around the plant.
  22. [This topic was originally posted by another member. At his request, I have disassociated it from him and made myself the "original poster."] I know there have been topics on this subject, and so many stories have been inspirational to me, so I wanted to share mine. This is going to sound very strange! For the last seven years I have experienced...
  23. Sadly, not everything you read on the internet is true. There is an unusual amount of misinformation about gluten in the medical community as a whole. This is just one example. Yeast, autolyzed yeast and yeast extract are all gluten-free. Yeast extract does have MSG as a byproduct of the process, as does autolyzed yeast for the same reason. Perhaps you...
  24. Open Original Shared Link for the details. Only one lot, sold in the US, is being recalled.
