  1. It has been a long day, starting with a delivery at the store, and then a busy day of last-minute shopping at a hectic pace. It slowed down around four, and we closed up at five. Then we made our way to our friend's annual Christmas Eve open house. Bill used to work for me, and we've been friends ever since, although we don't see each other as often...
  2. Geeze, Em, she sounds like a one-woman wrecking crew! Just a quick visit. Later!
  3. I think the Americans dumped all their electric kettles into Boston harboUr on December 16, 1773. Put water in, plug in, and boil away. Open Original Shared Link
  4. Our youngest cat, Riley, loves to go outside on the deck at the rear of the house. She sits by the sliding door and cries plaintively to be let out. Well, there is a good phoot of snaux on the deck. Today, Jacquie acquiesced to her plaints and opened the door. She didn't know what to make of the snaux. She looked at it, but did not venture out. Nevertheless...
  5. Hmmm. I guess I should be dead. I love pepperoni, but now make sure I only eat gluten-free pepperoni. Since being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 22-1/2 years ago, I have been drinking Diet Coke, which was then sweetened only with NutraSweet brand aspartame, and now for many years has used two sweeteners, one of which continues to be aspartame. The other is...
  6. Would you be good enough to share the source of this, please. I would be interested in reading it for myself. FWIW, NutraSweet is aspartame. It is the original patented brand name.
  7. It is hard to be sure due to extensive drifting, but somewhere between six and eight inches (15-20 cm). Today is sunny and cold. Another storm will arrive this evening, with another 15 to 20 cm accumulating through Sunday.
  8. Just a quick fly-by to say that it is snowing big time here in Toronto, with about 8 inches expected in all. It started after the morning commute, but has been coming down steadily since. It looks like there is at least 6 inches so far. The parking lot has been shoveled three times, and needs it again.
  9. Meat will be problematic at the border. Citrus fruit can not be imported into the US under any circumstances, even if it originally came from the US. Food other than that in original factory-sealed packages will usually pass. I would not be optimistic about home-made food. You can't prove what it is, and the border agent can't verify it. I know that this...
  10. Well, at 54, I don't fit either description, but perhaps changing the name will achieve the purpose without creating another forum.
  11. Susie, my goodness, what unusual weather you have had today. Here it just went from being well above freezing last night to being very cold. Currently -15 C (19 F). No sign of warming above freezing in the next 10 days. Brrr.
  12. I have sent a message to the board administrator asking him to read this topic.
  13. So in today's online edition of the Toronto Star there is an interesting story that made me wonder, "Don't they have better things to report on?" Open Original Shared Link
  14. At McDonalds, there are dedicated fryers at the front of the store for potatoes (fries and hash browns). These fryers are operated by the front crew--the same ones who take your order and present it. Nuggets and everything else is cooked in the back by a different crew--the grill crew. Those items arrive at the front already wrapped. There is some risk...
  15. I have not found anything that mimics the bagels I used to eat when I was eating poison. The Glutino ones are the closest I've found. They're acceptable. Glutino English Muffins are just like the wheat ones I once ate.

    ARCHIVED Pinned?

Yes, it has to do with pinning. New topics are unpinned until a moderator reads them. Once a moderator sees the new topic, they review it to make sure that it adheres to board rules and is in the correct place. If appropriate, it will be moved. Then it will be pinned. I have just pinned your topic in Friends and Loved Ones, and this one too. Although...
  17. Quiet here today, isn't it? No snow in T.O. today. Jess, you can have all of it.
  18. Have you tried them? I saw them for the first time in a store recently where I was buying other Glutino products. I was tempted, but for the moment, at least, resisted. I have never found a Glutino product that I didn't like, but often the price is a stopper. Great pretzels, but I already have a mortgage!
  19. Congrats to Sophie. A tie is much better than the expected defeat. Gloucester's 16-game winning streak ended. As they sometimes say, "the puck stops here."
  20. I have had root canal work three times. The first two Kevin, my regular dentist, did himself. I don't remember the cost, but it was nowhere near what you were quoted, Sooz. The third one was an endodontic re-treatment (second procedure on the same tooth) and was referred to a specialist who only does endodontics. They are not phun, but in the end are...

  22. Table salt and sugar are safe. That includes sugars other than white, such as raw and brown. We use corn starch and/or potato flour to thicken gravy and similar sauces. Pecans are gluten-free.
  23. Ashley, good to see you back in the friendly place we call psillyville. Up here, snow is something we grumble about but expect. I first saw your new av in another thread. I thought, geez, that is some dandruff--oh wait, could it be snow... And you say it was. Enjoy the day off tomorrow, Ash. For us, snow or no snow, work goes on.
