Depending on the situation I either stick close to whatever everyone else is having or make that my excuse to stop for take-out gluten-free pizza (we have a great place where the owner if celiac! yum). -
When they bring the meals just smile and ask for an extra plate then pour your own food out on it. Honestly, everyone is so busy scarfing up their own food that they don't pay attention to you. I'm not clear on why we are zeroing in on one company, Schar. Corn by itself is hard to digest. If you react to it, don't eat it but don't slam a company for their product. Corn is in a lot of products including many medications. We can't blame everything on celiac. Just saying............. -

Everyone is different. My issues (the big C) became much worse after going gluten-free, for whatever reason. I am 2+ years now and still struggle. It is better, much better, but the problem is still there. Remember that you spent years getting to this point and you can't undo all of the damage in a short period of time. -

Always always question. case in point - Dominio's Pizza. Advertise gluten-free but their prep does not equal gluten-free. I alsways feel better when the manager starts to explain how they deal with CC - and they talk about CC. -

Everyone is different when it comes to symptoms. In the begining a glutening could and would set me back a couple of months, now it is only a few days to get back to feeling good again. I have been gluten-free 2 years. Some people are more snesitive than others and react more strongly. Try not to kick yourself for your mistake and keep going forward! -

Hi ~ 62 is not too old. I was diagnosed two years ago at age 59. You should definitely get tested, especially if you have a diagnosed relative. I strongly believe that my mom passed away from undiagnosed/unteated Celiac. Don't take chances, get tested. And if your doctor is opposed - get someone else! Celiac knows no age limits. -
I don't like to eat out with friends when it's a place I can't eat as I still have trouble with embarrassment at bringing my own food, but it does happen from time to time. My friend told me that I should "never never ever have to feel embarrassed at bringing your own food". Ok, so tell me that after you have to do it yourself!

I am reading the book now and have purchased copies for both of my kids. Don't think they will read it but mom has to try! As celiacs we know how harmful wheat can be but I had no idea to the extent that it damages ones body. I cannot imagine ever eating the stuff agin (even if I wasn't celiac!). -

While there are no degrees of Celiac there can be a "honeymoon" period. After the gut heals some people can eat gluten and experience no symptoms. Howeverconsuming gluten will continue to damage the gut even if you have no symptoms and if you were to start eating gluten again the symptoms will eventually come back. Sorry, I really don't mean to be rude or combative or any of that.... but sometimes the "chemical' way is the only way out of a difficult situation. After two years I still have trouble with C. Not as much, but still trouble. It doesn't matter that I drink close on to a gallon of water a day and feel like I am floating down the Nile, eat cooked veggies... -
I, personally, wouldn't touch them. I understand that they are trying but, to me, there is way too much risk for cross contamination. They may use a clean counter but they are all grabbing from the same bins. Same lettuce, tomato, etc. Too much risk.
