  1. Like anything else processed gluten free foods in moderation. Too much of any processed food isn't "good" for you. But enjoy your bread!
  2. I am no good at reading this lab work stuff. I should be better... but I'm not! Help or feedback? Immunoglobulin A, Qn, Serum 277 (normal range) 91-414 Endomysial Antibody Iga negative negative t-Transglutaminase (tTg) /2 0-3 IgA I am...
  3. Hope you live close cause I'll be there on a regular basis. I used to love b'fast out.
  4. I used Bob's Red Mill bread mix. Made two loaves of bread, cubed them, dried them and then just finished up the bread crumbs cube things like regular stuffing and it was really good.
  5. We are turning towards the grain free life, just learnings more about it. All i can say is that a month into it and we both feel better. Been using coconut oil and mostly all organic meats & veggies. I found a great book full of paleo recipes and it's been fun. This morning we had pumpkin pancakes with eggs. Good stuff and no grains!
  6. I agree with Adalaide ~ children heal so quickly as opposed to us adults. At 3+ years I am just starting to be "normal", altho to be honest I have never been normal so not sure what normal is! I would probably go with what your little one is telling you. If she acts ready then give it a try.
  7. Last year I did Christmas dinner and it was 100% gluten free, including the rolls and stuffing. No one knew the difference till they noticed me eating it all too! That said, if we go to someone's home I take my own little turkey meal. For me there is just to great of a chance for cross contamination. A spoon dip here, a crumb drop there. I have felt...
  8. My biggest concern about any b'fast out would be the cross contamination. Breakfast anywhere is always such a rushed event. Seems like errors would be too easy.
  9. Many people are that way especially once they discover this way of life isn't as easy as it sounded!.
  10. I would like some of those flyers to hand out as well!
  11. It is not about eating a food substance. (and you were just being funny, right??) Dishing up gluten dog food leaves crumbs (seen and unseen) behind that must be promptly cleaned up or you risk cross contamination. My kids are grown and gone.... but kids like to "help" feed. How much easier to just know that everything in your home is gluten free. Such...
  12. My first question would be ~ How many celiacs have you counseled. You said she specializes so you may be ahead of the ball game there. My experience was being handed a stack of papers from the internet.
  13. It takes both partners to work on this issue! No beer or gluten kisses. A kiss is ok but a KISS is not!!!!!
  14. With five dogs we are pretty picky about dog food. We used Natural Balance for quite some time but recently switched to Kirkland Grain Free (Costco). Nutrition wise it is pretty much the same and much cheaper. We use gluten free rice chex for training and Natural Balance has a grain free cookie if you want a treat with more substance.
  15. I can't quite agree with scrubbing and reusing wooden spoons. Honestly, I would toss and get new. The same with plastic containers. They get scratched and uggy. It's just for peace of mind if nothing else.
  16. 3+ years and every so often I have a dream where I am being offered something gluteny or glutened. Not as often as in the beginning tho!
  17. You need protein. No protein = no energy. Every meal needs a balance.
  18. Some of this comes with time and experience. For a start, I would stay away from shared facilities. Give yourself time to heal and to learn which companies can be trusted. Some of the major companies are very good, it's just a matter of learning which ones. For instance, ConAgra is very good about listing known allergens, Mission does not state but does...
  19. Pot lucks were never an issue at work for me as I just plain never went right from my first day there. I went, but didn't eat. I have always had this strange adversion to tables crammed with food that comes from unknown kitchens. ugh. But that is just my weird side. That said, I agree with Josie..... just go to the pot luck, take something for you and...
  20. I couldn't agree with this more. I made the Big mistake in the beginning of letting a couple of friends carefully cook for me and it just didn't work out. The more I learned and the more knowledgeable i became the more I realized the margin for their error and then had to do a lot of back peddling to get out of letting them cook. Far better to take the...
  21. That's interesting! Explains why Walmart never moved that wheat stuff.
  22. No matter where you eat you always take a chance, human error, but over all I have eaten at Red Robin in five different states and only found one that did not have a dedicated fryer. I usually ask for the kitchen manager at a new place and chat with them just to be sure that I feel comfortable that they are well trained!
  23. 3+ years here too! And yes it does become second nature. Just when you think you will never understand and accept you wake up one morning and everything just falls into place. Those pity parties become fewer and fewer (the guest list sort of shrinks too!) . Remember whole natural pure foods are the best... veggies, fruits, meats and anytime you buy...

    ARCHIVED Outback

I have always had nothing but wonderful experiences at Outback and Alice Springs is my fav. Tons of calories and yummy fat grams. !! And of course restaurants spice and butter everything up - that's what makes it soo good.
  25. I have seen Bob's red Mill "WHEAT" Gluten Flour mix in the gluten free section at Walmart. Probably someone put it there cause it has the word "gluten" on it. I pointed it out to the manager but last time I looked i was still there. You have to read and reread everything. never trust store placement!!
