  1. No, mainly because I don't think intestinal biopsies are the best standard to judge the presence or absence of a gluten problem. Many testing methods live or die based on whether they can accurately predict measurable microvilli damage but this is a pointless standard because that damage is nothing more than another symptom of a larger problem. Fecal antibody...
  2. It's definitely possible. The blood tests can only really tell you if you have a problem, they can't tell you that you don't have a problem.
  3. Acne stopped, hair loss stopped (and has finally started to regrow!), dermatographism almost completely gone, energy improved, chronic sinusitis much less severe, don't run out of energy half way through a workout anymore, lactose intolerance gone, anxiety gone, brain fog gone, increased flexibility, increased drive, hypoglycemia stopped, insomnia stopped...
  4. There are thousands of reasons besides gluten for your stomach to rumble (assuming that's what you mean by gurgling). Unless you're putting your hands into your mouth soon after touching gluten products you're not in any danger from touching them.
  5. Colonics are part of that very large group of "healthy practices" that are either completely unfounded or have actually been found to do way more damage than good. Try yoga, refreshing and a good structural workout.
  6. There are gluten intolerances and there are wheat allergies and much rarer tested for gluten allergy, a "gluten allergy" is a normally term used by someone who doesn't know what the word allergy means. The symptoms you've mentioned are not allergy symptoms they are intolerance symptoms. Corona is most likely not safe for you to consume. What test was...
  7. If a company ever acts like they have something to hide, then it's certainly something they know is bad enough that it will cost them business.
  8. It doesn't specifically have to be an allergy to cause hives. Food intolerances (apart from food allergies) can cause all sorts of dermatological symptoms. Gluten makes my face break out.
  9. 47 is really high, there shouldn't be any doubt that you should try out a gluten-free diet. It's certainly not uncommon for many people, both doctors and laymen, to be completely ignorant about this condition.
  10. Abnormal bowel movements for a few days. Terrible bloating and gas. Severe lethargy for 2-3 days. Brain fog for at least a week. Loss in muscle tone. Most likely migraines for a few days. Clogged sinuses for at least a day. Most likely some mild anxiety for a few days. Normally these don't come on severe, just kind of gradually creep in over the next few...
  11. Yeah, the form he mentioned is much, much better utilized by the body. Additionally I'd recommend cutting out the gluten-free pasta. This is something obviously new to your diet and it's not a rare occurrence for someone to not respond well to the gluten replacement foods for a period of time after going gluten-free.
  12. He's most likely referring to tTG antibodies which are not needed for a gluten sensitivity.
  13. "Gluten allergy" is a misnomer for gluten intolerance, and no amount of gluten is safe for someone with a gluten intolerance.
  14. I've had the exact opposite issue since going gluten free. First off if I were you I'd get back on the fish oil as it would most likely only have a positive effect on your proper hormonal functioning. Second, try looking at any other major changes you've had to your diet since going gluten free. Making the gluten free switch normally means an overall significant...
  15. Congratulations on finding something that helps your health! It sounds like a lot of your symptoms are definitely improving as a result of going gluten-free which is more accurate than any sort of test results you could have received from a doctor. At this point I wouldn't worry about your weight so much. While your body was making all sorts of adjustments...
  16. Once again, I think you're going a bit broad on assigning blame into the plant kingdom. Onions garlic and other lilies have severe health benefits for humans and guess what? They're monocots.
  17. IgE is the realm of Allergists. Try to find one that goes with the serological tests instead of the skin prick test as the skin prick test is somewhat soft science.
  18. I have to be 100% gluten-free in order to get all the mental health benefits of the diet. If I even let myself eat off of plates shared with someone who eats gluten I only get maybe at most 80% mental clarity. Even then I still get hazy reality for at least 7 days after my latest gluten poisoning.
  19. I think you may have gone slightly overboard on demonizing grasses. First off, corn gluten is not gluten. It's a form of corn starch that has gluten like qualities of texture and use and that is the only reason why it's called gluten. It has absolutely nothing to do with real (wheat) gluten. Additionally there's no major conspiracy thing going on with...
  20. No, Yes and Quite often. The test can't prove the absence of celiac, only the presence of it. The presence of elevated antibodies in a young child should have been a good indicator to attempt a gluten-free diet but instead the doctor is charging you for drugs. The presence of elevated antibodies along with severe internal-inflammation should have been...
  21. sa1937: -itis simply means an inflammation of whatever word proceeds it (stomach inflammation, duodenum inflammation). They may be looking to a CT scan to determine just how far the inflammation goes. If you have celiac, the inflammation is no surprise and hopefully should eventually correct itself with a gluten free diet. I'm not sure of the exact logic...
  22. I'm just going to delete that post, it's confusing and based off the idea that I had thought that in taking biopsies from the small intestine they actually looked at more than just the very first small turn (duodenum). Now I see how they can miss the damage!
  23. CT/colonoscopy both do nothing to test for celiac disease. What sort of blood work had the previous doctor done to refer you for celiac disease?
  24. There do seem to be some decent ideas for cutting out all grain consumption (except alcohol of course!), however at this point they're just moderately developed theories. The reasons for cutting out all grains is not the same for cutting out gluten and I wouldn't make that decision if I didn't know all the science and theories behind it.
  25. No, don't worry that diet includes a whole bunch of vegetables, nuts and berries too. It's a hunter-gatherer type diet. You eat all the foods that our species grew up on before we decided to start taking short cuts and eating grains and legumes. Overall it's a fantastic diet if you have insulin issues. One important thing to consider when eating this diet...
