  1. so after three months of a swollen neck and face and 5 visits to various doctors i may finally know why i'm feeling how i do. my mom has thyroid issues and i've pushed her many times to go gluten free. i'm basically her genetic clone in so many ways i was expecting something like this. my blood test came back all within normal except for an elevated thyroglobulin...

    ARCHIVED Wendy's Chili

the last time my kids and i had chili and a baked potato from Wendy's we all had stomach problems. i don't plan on eating there anytime in the near future.
  3. my son had classic ODD signs. have you read "The Explosive Child"? it described him to the core. he also had some ADHD signs and sensory issues. within a week of being off gluten he was a completely different kid. the first word out of his mouth was no longer "NO!!!" he would willingly do things when i asked instead of going into rages. gluten really...
  4. dang, this is something i have heard about but it never cross my mind i should be vigilant about. my husband is already having a hard time dealing with our families restricted diet. he'll probably laugh at me when i tell him to brush his teeth more often. i'm sorry you got sick from your hubby. that really is a mood killer.
  5. we have a giant year round international farmers market about 10 minutes from my house. think of it like the Costco of farmers markets. they pack and grind many their bulk foods in store and you can by tubs of flour, beans, rice, tea, coffee, sugar..... i buy my beans and fresh ground raw sugar from them. i've been concerned about x-contamination for...
  6. thanks ElizLyn. i'm sorry you had such a bad experience. i think i'll be sticking to a very bland diet while there. plain meats and veggies. i really don't want to get sick. this is the first time my husband and i have taken a vacation alone in our 10 year relationship. i'm really looking forward to it.
  7. Chino's is amazing, seriously. i would highly recommend it and i'm so happy to hear i can still eat there when i go home to visit Phoenix.
  8. my husband and i have a 5 day all expenses paid trip to a beach resort in Puerta Vallarta at the end of this month. all food and alcohol are included. my husband marked that i was gluten intolerant but i'm wondering how that will work out. will they load our suite with gluten-free snacks? we have our choice of several restaurants at the resort. i can...
  9. this thread scares me because i have many of the items listed here in my home. the corn meal got me bad.
  10. mine got better but it's most likely because i wasn't a lethargic ball of sadness and pain. i have energy again and feel good about myself.
  11. i'm glad i caught this thread. i needed to replace my soy sauce. hopefully i'll be able to find San-J at my grocery stores(Kroger, Publix and Whole Paycheck Foods)
  12. i just might have to make a drive across town for that. we love Mellow Mushroom pizza and i was sad that it was no longer an option for us.

    ARCHIVED Gluten Symptom?

i think i know what your talking about. i could eat two servings of dinner and be hungry again an hour later. i'd still be full but had to eat more. i wouldn't gain weight either despite eating 2-3 serving of food within a few hours or each other. i couldn't go more then 2-3 hours without eating without getting the shakes from low blood sugar. i wouldn...
  14. i was worried about that too. i had to search through the boards to see if it was kept private. it would be great if it was mentioned that no one can see your information when you're entering it. i'm sure it scares away some people.
  15. i wanted to bump this and see if anyone else has confirmed this. my allergist and ENT both want me to start using Omnaris to see if it helps with the inflammation in my head. i'm not finding any info with search engines other then this post.
  16. my son has been having some joint and muscle pain in his legs. it has steadily become more uncomfortable along with his GI issues. i know joint pains and inflammation can be common in adults with celiac disease or gluten intolerance but i wasn't sure if it effected children the same. he's been off gluten for almost two weeks but still complaining of pain...
  17. i believe gluten has caused my anxiety and depression issues all my life. by week 3 of being gluten free i felt so relaxed and happy. i got glutened last week and i could tell almost immediately because the panic feeling came back very quickly.
  18. weak teeth and enamel is very common with celiac/gluten intolerance. your body is not absorbing nutrients like it should. there's many threads about it here. you don't need to get calcium from dairy. it's in so many other foods. if it were me i'd go with a dairy/gluten free supplement and also bump up his diet with calcium rich foods.
  19. i'm approaching 4 weeks of being off gluten. i feel like things have stabilized pretty well. i've discovered i'm sensitive to potatoes but i haven't tried other night shades yet. my skin is clearing up on my back and stomach. i haven't had a single headache or sinus problem which was my main issue. i'm able to get out of bed and be productive and don...
  20. sounds a lot like my 6yo. he was explosive, irritable, had sensory issues, hit and fought with us. he started having gastro issues this past fall when he started school. that was also when he started eating wheat and dairy daily in his packed lunches. before that he got very little of both because i was on a wheat free diet for my 2yo for several months...
  21. it probably varies from person to person. my main symptom of gluten intolerance was sinus issues. i don't know if i had infections but my sinuses very inflamed and swollen and my ear were both full of fluid. this was going on 5+ months of constant daily head aches and sinus pressure. within a week of being off gluten i could breathe clearly again and...
  22. he had a full panel stool testing a few weeks ago. no parasites or infection, everything came back normal. he hasn't had any more issues since Sunday evening when the gas finally passed. i need to have him eat some gluten foods for the endoscopy so i guess we'll see if it happens again. anyone else ever have this happened from gluten?
  23. my son has been having stomach issues for 6+ months. i took him off gluten 6 days ago(Thursday) when pulling diary didn't change anything. 2 days later we went to a birthday party and he got into the mini cupcakes and ate a few. he also had quite a few chocolate candies, kisses and peanut butter cups. with in an hour or so he started bending over from...
  24. my son's GI doc commented on our very Italian last name. then i told him my husband is 1/4 Irish, 1/4 Polish and 1/2 Italian. i guess celiac disease is very common in Italians. we don't know if any of his family has celiac disease but there's gluten intolerances in my family. it's like a double whammy on my kids. sounds like your doctor is on top...
