I think there must be something going on with going gluten free. After going gluten free 18 months ago, my stomach felt better than it had my entire life. BUT I started getting depression and anxiety which I had not experienced before. I think it is because a lot of carbs have gluten and carbs affect levels of serotonin in your brain. Anyhow, I personally...

ARCHIVED Fatigue, Nausea, Stomach Pain Related Issues?jknnej replied to vwincuw's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs Someone should explain to her that going on gluten binges is akin to skipping insulin if you're diabetic. She can end up with multiple types of cancer if she does have celiac disease and gluten is getting in, not to mention the thousands of other diseases associated with untreated celiac disease. Binging is like skipping treatment and it opens her up to...

Antidepressants affect everyone differently so if you decide to take one on your dr's advice, let him/her suggest which one would be best for you. I tried Zoloft and it upset my stomach, but my mother takes it and LOVES it. So, it's just a matter of finding the right one. My dr. said most people take 2 to 3 before finding the one which works for them.

Hmmm..do you have a fever? Is the pain sharp or nagging? After going gluten-free I had pains on my right side for awhile that eventually subsided.

ARCHIVED Question About Being Glutened!jknnej replied to romeo77's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I use Zofran or Phenegran when I am so nauseated that it affects my work...as a teacher I can't go home early very easily! You can get these from you dr. Only take Phenegran if you can sleep...it makes you sleepy but definitely makes the nausea go away. If it doesn't clear up in a few weeks then I would see a dr but for now you probably just need to wait...

I don't eat a lot of bread products because the gluten free ones are too expensive. Pacific Brand milk has gluten-free flavors made from rice that I love...way better than soy. you can find it at your local supermarket. Some quick things I eat for convenience if I don't have time to cook or I'm out and don't have a lot of $$? Delimex chicken taquitos...

While I don't recommend it for everyone, I take Lexapro for anxiety. My story sounds exactly like yours..odd phobias, physical attacks, everything you said. I tried therapy, yoga, relaxation techniques. After suffering for so long I realized it truly is chemical with me. When I take my Lexapro I am (normal). I can function, travel, do everytbing I...

Make sure his punishment is strict and stick to it! As a high school teacher I have kids who get in trouble for drinking and come in the next day joking about how lax their parents were about their punishment. At first I thought they might just be putting on a show for their friends but then I spoke to a teacher who actually knew this kid's mom and she said...

ARCHIVED Iso Of Safe Ice Cream!jknnej replied to nicki2222's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications I eat Ben & Jerry's all the time...Phish Food is my fave. It's chocolate ice cream swirled with marshmellow and caramel. Plus it has dark chocolate pieces in the shape of fish. It's gluten-free and amazing. If Ben & Jerry's don't have wheat clearly listed they are gluten-free. Use your brain...flavors like Brownie or cookie dough are obviously off...

Yeah, I thought so too with my first doctor because he is older. But the woman I saw on Tuesday is young, probably in her 30s.....I doubt she is older than that. She seemed very knowledgeable about it, as did the office staff. I am most likely going to remain gluten-free anyway but if the test comes back negative I may try re-incorporating gluten as she...

ARCHIVED What Do You Do When You Get Glutened?jknnej replied to coco-loco's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I take Zofran or Phenegran. Zofran is more expensive so I take it when I can't lay in bed. I take Phenegran and it works pretty well cus' it knocks me out and when I feel that bad I'd rather be sleeping, anyway! Don't take the Ipecac or whatever syrup. It will keep you vomiting until you are just dry heaving and nauseated for days afterward. Not worth it...

It is so difficult to know what to believe because my two GI dr's both do not think I should be gluten-free. They said my blood results only gave me about a 50/50 chance with no positive results from endoscopy. They also said the blood test that was high for me was the least one used in determining celiac. They are both surprised I am gluten-free. According...

My dr said that if you have the gene, you may or may not have the disease...it can be dormant in your body or it can be active. But according to her if you do NOT have the gene there is no possible way you can have it and therefore you can eat gluten. That is how she explained it to me.

I'm not sure how it works...only that my dr told me that if the test is negative it is OK for me to eat gluten. Not even sure that I would but... I'm not sure the difference between gluten intolerance and celiac disease?

So I knew it was around but last year at the GI dr. he didn't say anything about the genetic test for Celiac. I was told I may have it, I may not based on regular blood tests and endoscopy. I've been gluten-free anyway since it helped my symptoms. So tomorrow I will go take the genetic test and my GI dr. said if it is negative there is no way I can have...

ARCHIVED I Dont Get It?jknnej replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Yeah, I will stay away from it myself. I don't eat things that aren't processed in a gluten free facility. I always end up with a tummy ache. That's why I quit eating Fruity Pebbles even though they are so good! I don't trust their processing. There's just too much risk of cross contamination for me:( I do miss cereal, though.

ARCHIVED I Dont Get It?jknnej replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Even if there is no Trix with gluten anymore, though, does that plant process wheat baring cereals? If so, Trix might be produced on the same lines as cereals with wheat. Some people would not chance that. I'm sure whomever makes Trix makes a bunch of other cereals as well. Of course your risk is the same with Fruity Pebbles. Unless the company uses...

ARCHIVED I Dont Get It?jknnej replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications More importantly than the box stating gluten free, does anyone know if they process wheat cereals in the same facility where they process gluten free Trix? If so I would not touch it. I personally would call the company before you eat it to make sure they have dedicated lines.

ARCHIVED Weight Loss By Going Gluten Free? Bloating?jknnej replied to Kelly J.'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease When I was diagnosed I weighed 130. After going gluten-free I weighed 110. So I lost 20 lbs. without even trying. I gained it back over the last year because I was taking an anti-depressant; went back up to 130. Now I went off the anti-depressant about a month ago and have already lost 5lbs; I'm now at about 125. the only thing I caution with the gluten...

ARCHIVED List Of gluten-free Foods-help!jknnej posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Ok, I have 2 lists of gluten free foods bookmarked in my yahoo. Well, one of them must have moved websites. I still have one list but it is not as comprehensive as the other-I think it might be the Delphi one I've lost.
