I took Effexor for a year and it was the best. I tried Cymbalta just because Effexor made me sweat more, but as it turns out, so does Cymbalta. So, I'm probably going to go back on Effexor b/c it's cheaper than Cymbalta. I don't see anything wrong with it. I weaned off of it just fine and didn't even replace it with another drug for a few months when I...

I recommend Effexor or Cymbalta. I've tried both but I'm on Cymbalta now. Lexapro is mainly for anxiety and did nothing for my depression when I was on it.

ARCHIVED Depression/anxiety And Celiacjknnej replied to rutland's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease After going gluten free almost 2 years ago, I developed depression and anxiety; I had never had them before. I tried all of the natural ways for about 6 months; nutritional supplements, extra exercise, relaxation, yoga, you name it. Finally I started taking meds and I've never been happier. I tried going off of them and that was easy but the depression...

I got depressed after going gluten free. Never had depression a day in my 30 years before that. Now my stomach is all better but I'm on anti-depressants to help the depression. I tried everything; vitamins, natural suuplements, exercise-well I already exercise quite a bit so I just kept that the same. Nothing worked. I had the prescription for anti-depressants...

ARCHIVED Down To 97 Lbs.what Is The Name Of Generic Imodium That Can Be Used?jknnej replied to Anne AMP's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Hmmm...have you had a food allergy panel done? If not, I would do that asap. Talk to your doctor about your strength. You really need to get those tests done; especially with your symptoms. You could have something worse than a food allergy and those tests will tell them for sure. Wow, so I'm not sure what you can eat if all of those things bother you...

ARCHIVED Down To 97 Lbs.what Is The Name Of Generic Imodium That Can Be Used?jknnej replied to Anne AMP's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Sometimes eating high fiber foods like veggies make your D worse...I would stick to bland foods like plain chicken and rice for awhile and see if your body can tolerate that. Fruits and veggies are so healthy but NOT necessarily good for someone who has bowel issues. Usually if you find out what's wrong you can add them back in later. I am so sorry you...

ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...jknnej replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease If you have bad reflux, this could be your problem! If you are only taking over the counter meds there's no way that will cut it if you really have reflux. Last year I was taking Prilosic OTC for reflux and I was SO nauseated all of the time I couldn't eat. I went to the GI dr and he said that nausea is a side effect of both reflux AND Prilosic OTC. He...

What other kinds of things could be wrong? Hopefully no nodules...the problem the ENT said before I left was that there could be nodules on the underside of the chords because she could not see that part with the pics she had. OK if you say it's not that bad I'll do it..hopefully I won't gag...I will be terrified, though!! How is the rigid scope? Is that...

Yeah, I guess I will have to have it done. I am such a wussy with things and gagging, though! I really do need to find out what is up with my voice, though. I am worried that if I have nodules, which is very possible considering I overuse my voice, how can I go on vocal rest as a teacher? I do have reflux and I take Prevacid for it. But the endoscopy...
-
So, since going gluten free, I've lost my voice....I am a singer (a soprano) but you'd never know it now because my voice is low and scratchy. Now, when I had my endoscopy/biopsy, the dr looked at my vocal cords and they looked fine...he even took pictures. I took those pictures to an ENT-Ear, nose, throat doctor. She said that although the cords looked...

ARCHIVED Positive Bloodwork- Biopsy ?jknnej replied to breann6's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Personally, I would do the biopsy. You should to check how much damage is there, and to confirm the diagnosis. It is an easy procedure, with no pain involved, and then you will know for certain. Also, if God forbid something is wrong in your small intestine because of gluten, they can catch it NOW.

Delete the halls and is it possible you are developing an allergy to something else? A food, or a typical allergen?

ARCHIVED Eating Gluten Free On A Small Budgetjknnej replied to SarahTorg's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It's hard; my grocery costs have definitely gone up. There's no way to get around it; gluten free items cost more than non gluten free items. I try not to eat out at all so I can afford groceries and I also try to stick with staples like chicken, rice, and salad, but gluten free snack bars and cereal and oats are very expensive; there's no getting around...

ARCHIVED Headache, Nausea, Belching, Dreaming About Being Sick...jknnej replied to JenKuz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease So sorry you are feeling this poorly. I haven' t been on the board for awhile but I've been gluten free for two years and on this board that long as well. So pardon my questions; this is the first post of yours I have read. Are you gluten free? What is your typical daily diet like? Do you suffer from acid reflux? I also awake at night dreaming of being...

I work 1/2 mile away from Picazzo's in Tempe-I order out for lunch all of the time. They're menu is wonderful!
-
Yes, and I also get nauseated a lot easier since going gluten free. I have reflux now and I'm treating it, but I never had this problem before going gluten-free.

ARCHIVED Diagnosed Celiac, Why Am I Nauseated All The Time?jknnej replied to hafadai43's topic in Related Issues & Disorders You can't always tell if you have reflux from an endocsopy-only if there's damage. The best way a GI doc can help you if the endo. is clear is by hearing your symptoms and letting you try some samples of meds. If your dr thinks it sounds like reflux let him/her give you some samples of Nexium or Prevacid. If it helps, you have reflux. I really think this...

ARCHIVED Diagnosed Celiac, Why Am I Nauseated All The Time?jknnej replied to hafadai43's topic in Related Issues & Disorders You sound exactly like me. Turns out I have acid reflux and 25% of patients w/ reflux present with nausea and NO heartburn. I wake up at night nauseated, too, in fact, I dream I am throwing up. Waking up at night is one of the BIGGEST symptoms of reflux. You also will want to try sleeping in an elevated position. Nexium works wonders for this. You have...

ARCHIVED Frustrated That Nothing Is Workingjknnej replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Have you been checked for anxiety as well? Most people here probably know that I always post this when someone hasn't been feeling well for a long time. Many times it's anxiety combined with some other health issue. I ask because I was one of the people who went gluten-free but didn't feel better; in fact, I got worse. I had nausea, dizziness, eye problems...

Hmmm...Topomax is an anti seizure med they give headache sufferers because it sometimes helps with migraines. Perhaps it isn't working for you...maybe it's time to try something else. And even with topomax you should still take prescription migraine meds when you feel really bad. Try Zomeg, or Relpax, or Imitrex. Forget over the counter stuff if you have...

ARCHIVED Major Depressionjknnej replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Unfortunately for me, depression hit only AFTER going gluten free. I was never depressed a day in my life. then, I went gluten free and now I've been on anti-depressants for a year. I think it's the gluten withdrawl. My stomach issues are gone, but I fear I will always have to take this medicine. I tried stopping the meds but I got all my depression back...

Remember that side effects of Prilosic can be nausea as well. I took that before Nexium and it made me horribly worse and more nauseated than I already was. I stopped the Prilosec and felt wonderful in comparison. when I am really feeling sick I take Phenegran or Zofran, two prescription nausea meds, and they clear it up within minutes.

ARCHIVED Gluten -- I Cheated And It Was So Goodjknnej replied to grantschoep's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Whomever said they eat 3-4 sandwiches a week-that's a LOT of cheating! I don't cheat but only because I feel so crappy when I do. I spend so much time ill before diagnosis that I am still cherishing every day without a tummy ache.

On the complaining issue, I don't feel we have a right to complain if we get glutened unless we can easily see how it happened; i.e., server was terrible and making mistakes all over the place. Otherwise, we have no right to complain. They put a disclaimer on their menus stating that there is no way to guarantee gluten free and that we eat there at our own...

ARCHIVED Acid Reflux - A Thing Of The Past?jknnej replied to ArtGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders Unfortunately for me, going gluten free did nothing to reduce my reflux, not even when I was eating totally strict, no sugar, soy, corn, etc. So, I take Nexium and it helps.
