I get nauseated a lot and it turns out I have reflux. My doctor told me that while 75% of reflux patients present with heartburn, the other 25% get nausea instead. So, if you've never been checked for reflux, ask your doctor for some samples of Nexium. If it helps, you definitely have reflux.

Well, in a way, I hope you do have anxiety because it is easier to treat and not as serious as another health issue! I think a LOT of people here probably have anxiety and just don't realize it. I have a close friend who, for YEARS was sick and feeling unwell in general. She went to every doctor under the sun, all kinds of tests, etc. I tried to tell her...

At first I took Effexor, which was hard to wean off of. But now I am taking Cymbalta, which I can stop at any time. I also tried Lexapro, which I was able to stop easily. So, don't necessarily believe that all anti-depressants are hard to go off; only certain ones are. I tried all natural remedies before trying meds-yoga, exercise, meditation, relaxation...

ARCHIVED Sharp Pain In My Breast Bone Areajknnej replied to myserenityprayer's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease It definitely could be Costochondritis...don't know if I spelled that right. Google it...sounds a lot like your symptoms and it's not dangerous.

I know I sound like a broken record sometimes, but make sure to rule out anxiety as a problem. You sound just like I used to be, and it turned out I was suffering from anxiety. I didn't know it because I didn't feel anxious, but when I started anxiety meds, all of my stomach troubles disappeared. Turns out anxiety really can cause real physical symptoms OTHER...

I have terrible migraines as well, but I can't attribute them to gluten withdrawl because I had them before I went gluten free. I'm pretty sure they're hereditary; my mom had them as well, and I started getting them the same age she did (26). Anyway, when I get one, I get nauseated and light-sensitive as well. Basically, my entire body feels like I have the...

I think the withdrawl period lasts a lot longer than two weeks. I think the worst of it may be in the first few weeks, but I think it can last a significant amount of time. I know that after I went gluten free, an entire list of problems cropped up that I'd never had before. I think that because I changed my diet so drastically after 29 years of eating wheat...

Yes, other food intolerances do often emerge as you go gluten free. In addition, we are "supposed" to taper off gluten gradually, which I didn't know a year and a half ago. Because of this, I suffered gluten withdrawl pretty bad, which can mimic all the symptoms you had before going gluten free. If you don't start feeling better soon, see your dr. Or try...

ARCHIVED Finally Getting Better, 14 Months Later!jknnej replied to key's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Size 0 is not too small if you're like me. I am 5 foot tall and very small built. When I was a size zero, I weighed 110 pounds, which is actually a normal weight for someone my height. Now I weigh 130 and am a size 8, which is considered overweight for my height category. I should weigh between 120-125 at the very highest.

ARCHIVED Finally Getting Better, 14 Months Later!jknnej replied to key's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Yeah, I went gluten free a year and a half ago and I too was a size 0. Now I'm an 8 and freaking out!! I guess now that my body is getting healthy I am just putting the pounds on. I just recently started adding even more exercise to my routine and it's helping. It's reality, but you know what? I'd rather feel good and be a little bigger.

ARCHIVED Fevers, Exhaustion, Headaches...jknnej replied to jenvan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease Well, my idea can't explain the fevers, but.... I had a lot of similar symptoms after going gluten free. I went nuts with doctors, so many appointments, trying to figure out what on earth was wrong. Finally after seeing my face so many times my dr. suggested it might be anxiety and that I should try and anti-depressant. Of course I scoffed....anxiety?...

It could be a variety of things: 1. You have another food allergy/intolerance 2. You really do have a bug. 3. You are experiencing gluten withdrawl 4. Some sort of nutrient/vitamin deficiency 5. Chronic fatigue/fibromyalgia/anemia? 6. Thyroid problem I'm not sure which one you'd want to rule out first...probably the food. If that fails, get a vitamin...

ARCHIVED Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhh!jknnej replied to I'dratherbecycling's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease That reminds me of the time Mariah Carey, no joke, on the radio, said she would love to be skinny like the Ethiopians, just without all the flies and disease and gross stuff.

Sorry to say my GERD did not improve after going gluten-free. Stayed the same, basically. I guess it wasn't a symptom of gluten.

ARCHIVED Desperate For A Safe Candyjknnej replied to tsomo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications Have to agree with the others...those candies are gluten-free for sure...maybe it's the sugar, or dairy, or soy? Don't know but I know there's no gluten in those candies...

ARCHIVED Outback-no More Gluten Free Menu?jknnej replied to jpsych's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants Hi Kaiti! How are you? Haven't seen you in awhile! To kind of rephrase what I said: I absolutely agree with talking with the restaurants to make sure their staff know what's up and of course letting them know if they're making a mistake.... I just think that if we were to go home and get sick, let's not call and complain... if you see something obvious...

If your stomach is troubling you, stay away from salad. It is the hardest thing to digest. It's great for fiber for people who don't have tummy issues but if you do you want to stay away from it for a long time. I think you just need some time for your tummy to heal. I would stick to very plain, bland foods for the time being. I know how boring this is but...

ARCHIVED Outback-no More Gluten Free Menu?jknnej replied to jpsych's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants You know, it REALLY pisses me off when a Celiac goes into a restaurant, gets sick, then calls and complains. We always take a risk; even if the menu has gluten-free items; Outback even has a disclaimer on their menu. I wish some Celiacs would stop ruining good dining for everyone else; if you get sick, deal with it. It is a risk of our illness and that...

Yes, absolutely. And I was NEVER, and I mean never, depressed BEFORE going gluten free. Ever. I strongly believe that taking away gluten changes brain neurotransmitters like serotonin and norepinephrine. I had to start taking an anti-depressant and thankfully it has made all the difference. I was not only having mood swings, but getting to the point where...

ARCHIVED Question About Strange Symptomjknnej replied to Chrisser's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease Yes I absolutely had this. It is why I lost so much weight immediately after going gluten free. It is such a weird feeling. I would not feel full even after I ate, but I would feel nauseated, no matter what I ate. Eventually after seeing my GI dr. I had an endocopy and he said the only thing wrong was reflux....so I chalked another strange symptom up to gluten...

Ok, Heli I am so confused...according to my dr. the tests were all negative. Two were totally negative and I don't know what DBQ1 means next to the HLA. as for the next line, DBQ (DQ) I have no clue what this means, either. I just know that my GI dr says it is all negative and that I can eat gluten if I so desire and see how I feel. You don't interpret...

ARCHIVED I Can't Drink This Stuff!jknnej replied to Chelle15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms Who thinks the IV is hard? I didn't feel anything more than when they take blood....just a little pinch and that was it!

ARCHIVED I Can't Drink This Stuff!jknnej replied to Chelle15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms You will be sedated but you won't feel or remember ANYTHING so don't worry-there's no pain involved.

ARCHIVED I Can't Drink This Stuff!jknnej replied to Chelle15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms That's cool that you can have clear liquids up until 2 hours before. I am surprised, though. Any time someone goes under drugs like that they usually don't let you do that for 8 hours prior...it's dangerous. Hmmmmm.....interesting. I would still stay away from the Coke. I know you are not supposed to have dark liquids in any amount. Today is the hardest...
