Nothing would surprise me! I didn't have that particular problem but I gained a whole bunch of other issues I never had before.

Are you sure no gluten is accidentally slipping into your diet? check to make sure. Check everything...pots and pans, make-up, shampoo, etc. What are you eating on a regular basis? Perhaps you have another food allergy....do you eat dairy, soy, corn? I know most celiacs are lactose intolerant, at least for awhile after going gluten free. Also, after eliminating...

Hey all, As some of you know, I've had great success with my anxiety/depression with Effexor. However, I'm gaining weight that I shouldn't be and some people at my work that have taken it have also said they gained so much weight they had to switch meds. anyway, I'm just looking into it and one lady said Lexapro is similar to Effexor and she lost the weight...

jknnej replied to minibabe's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been using Chapstick all this time with no reactions so it must be gluten-free. I get sick really easily. -
ARCHIVED Think Its The Darn Lipstick!
jknnej replied to Bonnie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Chapstick brands are gluten-free and work well for me. I too was getting sick because of lipstick (Mac, of course) and as soon as I changed it I got better! -
ARCHIVED On Gluten Free Diet-need Help
jknnej replied to shellbean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You might also be lactose intolerant. Most Celiacs are, at least for awhile, until the intestines heal. And, once you go off gluten, you start to notice other foods your body doesn't tolerate. Yes, I was always hungry after going gluten-free. You'll get used to it. Check all shampoos, laundry detergents (especially with the rash), make-up, soap, toothpaste... -
So sorry to hear what you are going through. Many years ago I went through a similar thing with a man I thought I would marry. Now I am happily married to a great man, and one day you will be, too. But I am sorry for your loss and like everything else, it just takes time. Don't feel bad if you have to take anti-depressants again. I take them after a lot...

ARCHIVED South Beach Diet Frozen Dinners
jknnej posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, so on these frozen dinners that my hubby eats all of the time, it always says whether it has wheat or not and I know Kraft will clearly list wheat. However, does anyone else eat them? I'm not sure about cross contamination, although I enjoy many Kraft products with no problems whatsoever. Anyway, if anyone does eat the South Beach Diet frozen dinners... -
ARCHIVED Starbucks
jknnej replied to slpinsd's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I drink the decaf sugarfree vanilla soy latte all the time-it's my drink, too! I never get reactions... -
ARCHIVED Am I The Only One Who Feels This Way?
jknnej replied to glutenfreeheather's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been treated for depression for the first time in my life during the last six months. I, too, just hit the one year mark. About 3 months after going gluten-free I got horribly depressed; had never had this in my life. I tried everything under the SUN to cure it naturally; exercise, yoga, meditation, therapy, natural supplements like 5 HTP and Gaba. None... -
ARCHIVED Ordering Gluten Free In A Restaurant
jknnej replied to kari's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I, too, waited tables for a long time while in college, at a range of cheap places to fine dining. Amazing how many people don't tip well... I usually get pretty good service and I always tip 20% but there certainly have been times when I haven't had good service. I don't blame the server...it's usually the kitchen or the management...there have been a... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's Fries - New Poll
jknnej replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I voted yes because I've eaten them for the past year and never gotten sick from them. Based on that fact and the fact that the expert said they were gluten free, that is enough for me. However, I won't eat them regularly; only when traveling. I try to stay away from fried foods, anyway, but McD's is a must when driving 8-12 hours and really hungry! or... -
ARCHIVED New Mcd Statement -- Fries Are gluten-free
jknnej replied to lovegrov's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree- no lawsuits, please. We want restaurant owners to provide MORE gluten free items, not fewer. If I were a restaurant owner I would be scared stiff to try and offer gluten-free food. But, it is our choice to eat out. We aren't entitled to it, believe it or not. And, you would have to prove that the gluten in your blood test, if in fact there was... -
ARCHIVED What If You Don't Go Gluten Free
jknnej replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just so you know in advance...if you are gluten free your blood test will NOT show up positive so if your new GI tests you make sure he knows you are gluten free right from the get-go or you will get a false negative. -
ARCHIVED A Class Action Suit Against Mcds...
jknnej replied to Cheri A's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I agree with the others here..while I think it irresponsible for McD's to just NOW add that their fries contain gluten, suing only makes other restaurants more afraid to offer gluten-free menus. And we all know we take our chances when we eat out, period. -
sounds a lot like reflux. Ask your GI doc if you can try some Nexium for a month or two...see if it helps. It did wonders for me and I was in constant pain before I started taking it, a lot like what you've described

Sorry-didn't realize there was a poll feature. Asked where people are from because it seems as though there might be a difference in ingredients in Canada.
-
They can't actually take the protein style "off" the menu; it's just their standard burger wrapped in lettuce instead of a bun. All of their burgers come with lettuce and tomato so they will always have lettuce on the premises.
-
Just a quick yes or no will do. This thread is just intended as a quick poll, not a debate.

ARCHIVED Thank You And Migraines
jknnej replied to Faithperson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get migraines and unfortunately going gluten-free hasn't helped. I take Relpax, though, and it works. -
I am just curious: please say yes or no as to whether you will eat McDonald's fries again and state what country you are in.

I live in Phoenix and at the Outback's near me in Gilbert the staff are very knowledgeable (except if you get a brand new waiter, in which case I make sure to specify until it's almost embarrassing!) Anyway, I've never gotten sick from Outback, thankfully. I have gotten sick from PF Chang's, twice.
