Try the chicken gratella or the sirloin marsala. Both are amazing and don't contain diary unless there's a little butter in the sauce...I'm not sure....you might be able to ask for no sauce if you can't do the butter. Their salmon is also great if you like fish. Also, if you can tolerate soy butter Carrabba's near my house is very accomodating with allowing...

Where do you live? It's worth a trip, I tell you! The pizza is so good my husband even eats the gluten-free kind and that is saying a LOT. I've tried every gluten-free pizza out there and personally feel they are all kind of gross. Not so with this....I ate every bite of the leftovers, too!!!!

ARCHIVED Anyone Have Bad Headaches?
jknnej replied to julie5914's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get them, too. Migraines, that is. Nausea, light sensitivity, noise sensitivity. In fact, sometimes I get the other symptoms before my head starts to hurt and that's how I know i have a migraine. It's like my whole body has the flu. thank GOD for Relpax migraine medicine. it does take about two hours for me, but once I take it my headache is gone. I can... -
Finally a great gluten-free restaurant. They have regular food, too, but all gluten-free items are prepared separately. it's a pizza place, REAL yummy gluten-free pizza cooked and prepared separately from the regular stuff and wrapped up tight, too. The pizza is so good. this man has even made gluten-free flour that is amazing and he is just about to start...

ARCHIVED Lots Of Question!
jknnej replied to NYCisTHEplaceTObe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It sounds to me like you should be tested for celiac disease. You certainly have some of the symptoms. It sounds like your dr. might not be the best dr. for you...maybe you can get another one who actually knows about celiac disease. If he hasnt' tested you and you have all those symtpoms than I don't think he knows much about celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED Just Found Out And Need Some Advice On Docs.
jknnej replied to morrigan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You really can eat anthing! I'm eating M&M's right now and I just ate out at Rubios-corn tortilla steak tacos. Outback Steakhouse, PF Chang's, Carrabba's, Claim Jumper, McDonalds, you name it, they have gluten-free food. You can buy frozen Delmex Chicken Taquitos, or Amy's frozen meals, there are also some South Beach Diet frozen meals and Lean Cuisine... -
My experience is opposite: after I went OFF gluten I got depressed, angry, and mood swings. My personal theory is that we already know carbs affect our level of serotonin in the brain; therefore when you quit eating wheat/gluten you are eliminating a lot of natural "mood enhancers." now, I still eat carbs, but not nearly as much as before. So, my theory is...

ARCHIVED Yeast Infection In Small Intestines
jknnej replied to leudy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Two GI doctors, one of them who won an award for best doctor in Phoenix, say we all have yeast in our intestines and that all yeast stems from our intestines, but that it can't cause the problems we have. This is, and always has been, a huge debate in the medical community. Some swear they have it and seem to get better when taking Diflucan, others like myself... -
I lick my finger or use a waterbottle I carry around- I live in Arizona so I carry one 24/7. For Wells Fargo anyway, you have to use their envelopes or the ATM won't read the deposit. I never ever put my fingers in my mouth when I'm out in public so I don't need to worry about forgetting to wash my hands. I bite my nails but only once I've gotten somewhere...

I think I may have been glutened at In N Out Burger, but the odd thing is how the symptoms are manifesting. I just kind of had a tummy ache after eating it yesterday, but nothing major, no diarrhea, etc. Today I have a killer migraine with body aches, fatigue, dizziness, nausea....all of which are normal for me when I get a migraine BUT and pardon my...

ARCHIVED Extreme Hunger....
jknnej replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When I had this problem someone on this board told me that without gluten there is a massive change in stomach volume contents. Plus, our bodies go through gluten withdrawl. Give it some time; what helped me out was eating every hour or so, just something small. Even today I eat very little at each meal so I can eat many times a day. It really does help... -
Don't worry too much about the biopsies. They are painless. As for the lactose intolerance, a lot of people with celiac disease have IBS as well. My GI specialist told me that he's never seen a case of IBS without lactose intolerance. I still eat dairy but I do get bad gas pains when I eat it.

ARCHIVED Extreme Hunger....
jknnej replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had this for the first two or three months after going gluten-free. It went away, though. I've been gluten-free for 9 months now and I no longer have this problem. It was not a fun problem-I'm glad it's gone. How long have you been gluten-free? -
ARCHIVED Could I Be Suffering From Cd?
jknnej replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ummm, yes! Many of those symptoms are classic slgns of celiac disease. Good thing you're getting tested! It could also be something else but it definitely warrants a test for celiac disease! I, too, had those weird hypoglycemic attacks but mine weren't helped with the ingestion of sugar. ???? Odd, right? They got better after I was gluten free for awhile... -
My hubby just went to In N Out to get us lunch. No dressing this time! That's OK cus' I don't like dressing on burgers, anyway. I told him to ask for it gluten-free and to ask for it plain. I'll put my own ketchup/etc. on it at home. Can't wait! Thanks for the tip about the dressing. I figured it was not gluten-free! Glad I played it safe and didn't eat...

Does anyone know if In N Out thousand island dressing is gluten free? I bought a burger there tonight and couldn't eat it because it had dressing on it. I had already left the store and wasn't able to go back so I had to scrap the entire burger. If anyone knows this, please let me know asap! I want to have In n Out again!!!

ew, I feel like things are crawling on me after reading this-LOL. You poor thing!

H Lori. I don't know who told you you would gain weight, but I can tell you that immediately AFTER going gluten-free I lost 15 pounds without even trying and have kept tht weight off ever since. Wheat bloats you out; hence, not eating wheat will help you lose weight....unless of course you're pounding ice cream every night! Having celiac disease isn't as...

ARCHIVED Trying Gluten Free
jknnej replied to phe's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, you get more sensitive after not eating gluten, even if it's for a short period of time. How careful were you? Did you have vinegar, soy sauce, or any other source that most people don't realize? Your taste buds will adjust...plus there are a LOT of mainstream gluten-free items out there that you will learn about if you continue the diet. Don't worry... -
ARCHIVED Could This Be My Problem?
jknnej replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, yes, and yes it sounds like celiac disease. But of course there are a lot of other ailments out there, too. Just don't go gluten free until after you have a bisopy, if your blood work warrants that. It will skew the results of the test. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED Hello, New Here, Awaiting Tests
jknnej replied to LeighsaH's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the board! Take it one day at a time and try not to feel too overwhelmed. I've been gluten-free for 9 months (holy cow) and I'm still learning what I can and can't eat all of the time! You'll get used to it and this board is a HUGE resource; a real God send. celiac3270 and Kaiti are huge experts and two of the nicest people here! (No offense... -
ARCHIVED Positive Ttg, Negative Biopsy
jknnej replied to musikate's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Oh, it sounds to me like you have it. I'm not a dr but it really does sound like you have it. I would stay gluten free-make a committment for six months or so. It takes awhile to feel better...some people that were really sick it takes a year or more. But if you're already improving, I would stay on the diet. After all, you've already had your biopsy done... -
There are 3 Outbacks near my house and they all use the same system for gluten-free food. They highlight it with a special color so the chefs know. I eat there all the tim and every waiter knows exactly what to do and I've never ever had a problem. I love them. The manager also usually comes over to make sure my food was OK. I just ate there tonight-awesome...

I'm 29 and lately I've been getting night sweats a LOT. It sucks cus' after I wake up I'm freezing cold while the sweat condenses off my body. I have to get up and change and then the bed is all wet-ick!! I never really had this before except sometimes during the winter when I wore too much to bed and had a huge blanket on me. It's hot in Phoenix but...
