Glad to hear this about Disneyland. We're going next weekend. I'm from Orange County so I've been to Disneyland a million times but it was all before I was having gluten issues. I'm taking my hubby there cus' we're vsiting family in OC and he hasn't been there yet. Glad to know I can eat gluten-free in the Disneyland hotel...we'll just ride the monorail...

ARCHIVED Constipation/diarrhea
jknnej replied to BamBam's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Bambam, Another thing you can try that helped me is if you don't already, take daily fiber. I take Citrucel clear mix and it helps keep me free of diarrhea/constipation. Of course if you're being glutened, that's a different story. But if you're not ingesting gluten and still not regular, try the fiber (if you don't already.) Hope this helps! jennifer -
Yeah, I agree. I would love to eat the prepared foods at our Whole Foods, but we don't really know how it was prepared, so it's not safe. It sucks b/c it would be really easy and convenient to eat there, but it's at your own risk if you do....

Well, I have been feeling significantly better so far, I am happy to say. I think the Effexor has started to work. I just have 2 side effects that are troubling: I'm having a hard time sleeping, and my sexual drive is about zero. Kind of sucks! But, I feel better in terms of my depression/anxiety. I haven't had a bad day in 4 days, a record lately.

I take Aviane, generic for Alesse. It is gluten-free.

Delimex has corn chicken taquitos..it says masa flour..this is corn flour, right? These are listed as gluten-free on the delimex list but I just wanted to check....help -please for my dinner tonight!

Mine are hormonolly related and genetic. My mom's were so bad she was part of a headache study. I take Relpax, it is gluten-free, as is Imitrex. It works really well; Imitrex worked at first then stopped.l

jknnej posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Listening to another post about chicken nuggets, will you guys please post for me some good mainstream gluten-free products that are frozen (i.e., easy and convenient, just throw in the oven/microwave) type stuff? I eat Amy's but I am sick of them-desperate for some new food. any help would be appreciated! jenn -
ARCHIVED Accidental Gluten In Diet
jknnej replied to mandigirl1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You poor thing-that is awful. You should get a prescription of anti nausea drugs for when this happens. I take Phenegran and though it does make you sleepy, sleeping is better than being up feeling like you have to throw up! Besides, it's not like you can go out or to work if you're curled up in a ball on your bed! -
I don't know if it's just this medication I'm taking-Effexor or what...but lately I get winded and my heart beats fast if I even just get up and walk around the house or turn around in bed. I told my doc and he said this is normal? Last time I was in his office my blood pressure, if the nurse took it right, was 82/60-and it's usually right about 120/80. Plus...

ARCHIVED Soluble Fiber Powder/pills

I love the Citrucel Clear Mix. It says gluten free right on the label. It's gentle and really works. -
What is scleroderma?

Thanks, Michelle. I called the dr. and he said those things are normal and to wait it out. I up my dosage in a couple of days which might makes things temporarily worse, but at least that will be it for awhile. I just can't wait to feel better! I just hope these things don't stay this way the entire time I'm on it! The pupils are funny, though.

I, too, had a slightly low potassium level and I still get chest pains from time to time. I also get like, I feel exerted just by doing the smallest movement. For example, if I roll over in bed my heart will beat like I was running. My dr says not to worry about this..hmmmm...sounds like all of our drs say not to worry about this but it is scary.
-
Ugh...Michelle did you get side effects other than sleepiness and loss of appetite from Effexor? I feel really weird, like I can't concentrate, my pupils are totally dialated...I wake up suddenly in the night frightened. Perhaps this medicine isn't the right one for me? I'm going to call my dr. and find out what he thinks...
-
Yes, I know I have to give it awhile. Today I slept all day and last night I was very nauseated. But I have Phenegran for nausea so that is helping. I feel weird and drugged. I hope this goes away! Next week the dosage goes up...I hope the side effects have diminished a little by then or I don't know how I'd take it.

I broke down and took an Effexor an hour ago. I have been SO down this week and funky mood swings I wasn't looking forward to the fourth of July at all. My hubby and I discussed it over dinner and he feels scared watching me be so depressed. I am terrified it will make me nauseated! So far so good but it's only been an hour. If I do get sick I will probably...

Terry, Does Pepcid help when your reflux is really bad? The past two days I have had terrible heartburn and I do take Nexium once a day. I"m wondering if I need to up my dosage. I didn't know you could take Pepcid as well. Does it help? I've got to figure something out!

hey ladies, I need some help with what to take. I bought Gaba and 5-HTP but it wasn't one of the brands you mentioned-the Gaba was TwinLab and the 5-HTP was Natrol brand. I thought TwinLab was pretty good but I'm not familiar with the Natrol. Anyway, I am suffering from anxiety and depression so I need to take something for both, most likely. The 5-HTP...

You know Susan, I can't eat at PF Chang's for some reason. I LOVE their lemon chicken, but whenever I eat it, I get sick like you; queasy and nauseated. I personally know there is something in it that bothers me; be it wheat, MSG or whatever. The bottom line is, unfortunately, I stay away from PF Chang's even though I love their food. It's just not worth...
-
Yeah, their waitstaff is the main problem, I think. When I got sick last time, the waiter was a total idiot who didn't even watch his tables. I should have known. Anyway, I was thinking maybe I react badly to MSG or whatever is in Chinese food b/c I'm sure I'm not getting glutened everytime and I swear I get terribly sick everytime I eat there.

ARCHIVED Any Anti-nausea Medication Gf
jknnej replied to kaysol's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I personally can't stand nausea and I say take drugs! Zofran and Phenegran are gluten-free and are wonderful anti-nausea drugs. Get your doc to prescribe you one of those-they are both prescription. Zofran is really expensive but Phenegran is not. I also heard Compazine works. If you don't want to take drugs, try -
ARCHIVED Help From You With Other Food Intolerances !
jknnej replied to jenvan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I can tell you that I have food allergies to foods and the ones that I react only mildly to I eat with no problems whatsoever. So I would NOT worry about the foods on your low or even moderate level because of the sheer volume you have there. Focus on the high ones instead. -
They don't have a gluten-free menu per say, so it is a little tough to find something, but you can at least eat plain like chicken and a baked potato and they will accomodate you.

I went to 2 different Claim Jumpers 2 days in a row-on accident, actually. The first one the manager came over just to talk about my allergy and make sure they did everything right. They did. The second one the chef brought a bun out with my burger so they had to fix it but the manager took it off the bill and made sure the second one came out perfect. They...
