Hi Michelle! I, too was about to PM you to find out where you were! Your advice has helped me so much:) Sorry about your being glutened. No fun. It will take a while for you to get back to normal after that.I don't think it's odd if you still feel badly so soon after, unfortunate as that is. Effexor works pretty well for me; I'm still feeling a little...

On the menu it tells you how to order...such as "order without croutons and ask to be prepared in a separate bowl." You don't have to worry about the kitchen staff; they know what to do back there. Try the chocolate thunder from down under it's AMAZING. Chocolate flourless brownie w/ ice cream and hot fudge plus chocolate shavings OMIGOD it's fabulous. I...

I get that when my reflux is acting up badly for some reason. Or when I get a sinus infection; then it's really bad. Stuff smells foul and sometimes I even ask people if they smell that. They think I'm crazy!

In N Out Burger offers protein style burgers (wrapped in lettuce as a bun) AND I've spoken with my students who work there: if they even accidentally put bread on your burger they make your entire burger over for you without you having to say a word. They are super careful. I had a shake there yesterday and it was great.. Aren't shakes usually OK as long...

ARCHIVED Gf Make-up
jknnej replied to jknnej's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Today I bought Maybelline mascara and 2 cover girl eyeliners. They didn't say wheat on the back. Anyone know if they're safe? At this point I'm going to try them anyway! I can't afford to buy all Bare Escentuals, especially since mascara doesn't even last that long! -
ARCHIVED More Questions For The Experts!
jknnej replied to JLK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ok, here's the post..I found it! Judi, that is your name! Sorry for the delay..work has been crazy!! Symtoms: I, like you, have always been high strung and as a child always had nervous problems. Typical type A personality! Well, I've had so many health issues and my dr's were urging me to try Effexor, and anti depression, anti anxiety drug. it took me... -
Sorry guys...it's been a CRAZY week at work and last week I posted and a new poster asked me about anxiety symptoms and what mine were when I suggested that could be a part of the problem. Well, I looked all over for the post and couldn't find it or remember her name, so if you're out there, here's my answer! I used to hear my heartbeat, get dizzy, nauseated...

ARCHIVED More Questions For The Experts!
jknnej replied to JLK's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey Judi, I have the same problem with you but THREE doctors told me that if I had systemic candida, I would be in the hospital almost on my death bed. They say your mouth would be totally infected with thrush and you would not be up walking around or anything like that. Apparently it is that serious if it's in your blood. My doctor also doesn't believe... -
Has anyone eaten at Rubio's Mexican Restaurant? It's a little like Baja Fresh and very good. They have soft tacos with corn tortillas and they will make you special quesadillas if you want. The people that work there are very nice and helpful! I'm in Phoenix and I love Rubio's.

Hey all, I remember reading a post awhile back about bite size candies having gluten, like Snickers. Today I had the small Reese's and York Peppermint Patties with no reaction and of course I read the ingredients which looked fine, but I just thought I'd ask you all. Does anyone know if these are safe? BTW, I haven't seen celiac3270 around lately...

Sounds to me like heartburn. I have those symptoms and thank God, Nexium relieves them. Talk to your dr. about a trial of Nexium to see if it helps. It did for me (of course, only after they put me through all of the other tests!!) Jenn:)

There's another thread here somewhere about PF Chang's. Although I dont think it's a gluten issue, I get sick almost every time I eat there. Several of my friends who are not Celiacs have the same problem. I think it might be an MSG issue or something else they add to their food. I LOVE PF chang's but unfortunately, I have to stay away b/c of these...

ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
jknnej replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Michelle, does this law mean all foods will have to display if they have wheat? But, even if they say they have no wheat, I guess there's no guarantee on HOW the food is prepared? Does Walmart's gluten free label mean the food also was not processed with other foods containing gluten???? -
Hey all, There's only one questionable ingredient on the label and that is "flavoring." Everything else is fine... anyone else ever eat this? i'm almost positive it's gluten-free cus' on the delphi list it says Hormel corned beef, but it doesn't say the hash. So, if anyone uses this or knows, please respond asap. I would call myself but it's Saturday...

ARCHIVED New-looking For Advice
jknnej replied to elonwy's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If your biospy experience was unpleasant, it sounds like you have a lousy doctor. Mine was fine, no pain, and I was out the entire time. I would get a better doctor! -
For those of you questioning why you get sick at PF Chang's, I don't know if you read my post in this thread, but I get sick every time I eat there as well. I don't think the issue is gluten, but for some reason I'm incredibly nauseated and fatigued after eating there. I am not allergic to any other foods; I would love to know what is going on as well. For...

ARCHIVED Getting Tests Without Reasurance
jknnej replied to rainbow's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Don't worry-I had both of these tests within the past year and it is so easy! There is no pain involved. I don't know what doctor the other poster here had, but my doctors had me OUT for my colonoscopy. Just liike the endocscopy. I remember absolutely nothing about either procedure, or even the car ride home. Other than them putting in an IV which is just... -
ARCHIVED I Do Not Have Cd
jknnej replied to louiesgirl2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Unfortunately, just because you don't have symptoms doesn't mean you don't have celiac disease. -
ARCHIVED Off The Pill In Late May, Dx In June, No Period
jknnej replied to carriecraig's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I went gluten free six months ago and I've been on the pill for 11 years. I didn't go off the pill, but after going gluten-free I missed my period 2 out of 4 months just because. I think it has something to do with going gluten free. Our bodies are in shock. -
ARCHIVED Just Had A Baby And I'm Getting Tested...
jknnej replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, Erin, how funny! I've been teaching for 6 years; choir and English, but I just switched schools. Maybe when you start looking for teaching jobs I can help you out:) I've met a lot of people out here. We should get together sometime! That would be fun! -
ARCHIVED Just Had A Baby And I'm Getting Tested...
jknnej replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Erin, My doctor's name is Greg Foutch at Mesa GI and his number is 480-461-1088. He's really good. I shop at Whole Foods in Tempe, Aspire Market in Scottsdale, Henry's in Gilbert, and the Basha's near my house has a huge gluten-free section. They carry bagels, english muffins, bread, frozen meals, etc. We can also eat out at Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba... -

HI Erin! I, too, live in Phoenix and have celiac disease. Do you have a good GI doctor? If not, I can give you the name of mine. It's always nice to meet friends that live in town! -
ARCHIVED Is Endoscopy Traumatic/painful?
jknnej replied to hollyd's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am a huge wuss and these tests are easy. The worst part for me was not eating the day before the colonoscopy. I felt no pain and was totally out. The endo was even easier. I felt nothing and they didn't spray anything in my throat-unless they did it after I was out. Again, no pain and I remember nothing. I am a giant wuss and these were the two easiest... -
ARCHIVED Worsening Symptoms
jknnej replied to browneyedgrl73's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Me, too. I always had stomach issues, but before I got my blood tests I got SO sick to my stomach for about two months that I had to force myself to see a specialist b/c I could barely even work. That's when I found out about celiac disease.
