This is just a tiny little helper if you're not lactose intolerant!!!! I am lactose intolerant but I do it anyway! I eat a LOT of ice cream. That helps me with the cravings for cakes, pies, etc. You can have a huge hot fudge sunday! I know it's only a small consolation...but when I go to holiday events like Christmas at my mom's I make sure to buy myself...

I would definitely stay clear of talking with the boss or distributing Celiac stuff. It's just my own experience but you can create a hostile work environment for yourself and be miserable forever because of it. It sounds to me like you have an insensitive boss and quite a few insensitive coo-workers. That being said, if you complain you're probably going...

Oh see you have to understand my personality to get this, but I LOVE when people say sh!t like that to me. ESPECIALLY when they are women cus' I say back: "Oh I don't mind....I don't need all of those extra carbs. You know they go straight to your thighs" Oh, I've never said that to a woman who didn't immediately drop her bagel!!!! Or they look down at...

You may not be getting glutened. Maybe you are allergic to another food that you don't even know about....it certainly sounds like it. Have you had a food allergy panel done? If you have then I'm confused about why you are getting sick other than maybe your digestive system is still healing and maybe the rash is due to an allergy to a product you are using...

All in all it was actually a pleasurable experience! I was so relaxed and slept like such a baby.

Oh yeah I forgot to add that I had a vitamin test, hormone test, thryoid test, etc. They tested me for everything before I took the anti-depressants. My dr. said finally that if all of these tests came back negative he wanted me to try the Effexor, so I did. I was there so many times he was beginning to think I was a hypochondriac! I take B vitaims, Multivitamins...

You're not allowed to eat from midnight the night before on, anyway, or to drink water (unless you have a medication to take). You will probably get Demerol and Versed and you won't feel or remember a thing. Don't worry, it's a breeze! They will put an IV in your arm, then put the medicine in and it's lights out for you! There is no pain afterward, either...

Hi there, I was like you with the anxiety up until about July. Unfortuantely for me, things were bad enough that I started taking Effexor. The good news is, the drug does wonders and I am now able to live without constant anxiety. Mine was so bad I would barely leave the house and I was eating almost nothing because i was afraid it would make me sick. talk...

I suppose part of my nonchalance about food comes from my being a little religious as well. I don't go to church every Sunday and I'm not extremely religious, but I do believe in God and Jesus and after being reminded of His ultimate sacrifice it makes me feel very small to worry so much about food. I read the posts about lost loved ones and empathize and...

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel guilty I was simply stating my opinion on how I handle it. I teach high school and we have goodies week where everyone brings goodies, plus donuts in the office every Friday, plus countless parties because I teach choir. Oh and not to mention the luncheons about 4 times a year. No one EVER brings gluten free food to those...

That is pretty much what I meant, Tiffany. You found a better way to say it!

I never told anyone how they should grieve; I simply stated my opinion. I personally think it is trite to worry that you can't have a muffin when there are so many other problems in life, such as serious illness, financial issues, personal issues, etc. That's just my opinion. You're right; everyone looks at things differently. This is just the way I look...

You may have read my post wrong. I wasn't talking about losing jobs, or having serious health problems. I was talking stricly about food, period. Of course losing a job or having a serious health problem is something to be upset or depressed about and something to need support for, but that is not what I was referring to. I was referring stricly to missing...

When I eat at Sushi places I always sit at the sushi bar so I can speak with the sushi chef himself and bypass waiters. they are always more polite and helpful than waiters, anyway, and I've never gotten sick because of it.

I know it is hard to change your life but I think we need to put things into perspective. Although what we're going through it not easy, try to think of how trite changing your diet is compared to children in the hospital who have cancer, or people like my close friend, whose son just passed away. There are plenty of great gluten-free foods for us. Of course...

ARCHIVED Now What Do I Do?
jknnej replied to dawinka's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, if after all tests it still comes back negative it couldn't hurt to try the diet to see if it's an intolerance or an allergy to some other food. -
You know, I might be suffering from the same issues. I've been using Dove for awhile and have had a constant rash........I don't have other symptoms but the itching is enough to drive me crazy...hmmmm...

I've never had a problem with their fries. I do think that some people may get sick simply /c it is fried food and not healthy at all! That being said, I only eat there when we're travelling and there's nothing else....I don't need those wasted calories or another shot at being glutened.

ARCHIVED Finally Glutened, Lol! And In My Own Home!
jknnej replied to Merika's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
To be honest with you, the experience of being glutened is so bad for me, I don't eat at other people's homes. If I do have people over my house and we're serving food I don't go near it and I would never eat off a communal plate. It kind of stinks but I've grown accustomed. At Thanksgiving my mom made a great tray of meats/cheeses that were gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Strategies After Getting Glutened
jknnej replied to Heather22's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well it's different for everyone. For me the main issue is nausea so I keep Phenegran in my house and I lay down, take the drug, and sleep for a day! I caution you, though, that Phenegran makes you sleepy so you have to take it with plenty of time for rest. When I'm that sick I can't work anyway so I stay in bed. -
Well I can't speak for their frozen entrees but I can tell you that I work a 1/2 mile from Picazzo's in Tempe, AZ and I eat it ALL of the time; their pizza, garlic cheese bread, salads, etc are ALL wonderful and gluten-free. I eat there at LEAST once a week...in fact, their leftovers are my dinner tonight:)

The Storybrook Cafe serves gluten free food in California Adventure and there are 2 gluten-free restaurants in the Disneyland Hotel. They are VERY Celiac friendly...don't worry!

ARCHIVED Minute Maid Fruit Punch
jknnej posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know if it is gluten-free? I checked the two main lists; one said all minute maid products without flavorings added....the other list said ALL varieites of Minute Maid are gluten-free. The punch does have natural flavorings. Does anyone drink it or know if it is gluten-free?
