Yeah, I think they might be tackling one allergen at a time. I have a friend who is allergic to Soy and I understand the frustration. Even at my allergy friendly house she has to read labels like a madwoman. But for those of us who can eat soy, it IS a blessing because the bread is the hardest thing, I think.

ARCHIVED Tasty gluten-free Snack FoodsK8ling replied to RachelisFacebook's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease The betty crocker mix is DELICIOUS!! Also, I buy the Pamelas Chocolate Chunk when I feel like I need a sweet treat. I just bought the spicy ginger ones so I'll see how those work out but so far all of the Pamela's products ROCK. Someone else said that you are always hungry now because your body is craving nutrients...thats true! I went through that as...

ARCHIVED Youngest Daughter DiagnosedK8ling replied to ksymonds84's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease wow that is so hard! I am 23 and it would be impossible to deal with people if I wasn't outspoken and loud. I honestly couldn't imagine being 19 and fresh into college AND having to deal with celiac. I am sending her good vibes and wishing her the best. She'll learn to be more assertive, it just takes time

I bought it at Kroger (our local store). I didn't see it at Publix or the commissary. We made toast with it this morning and my son asked for more! I think I still prefer Udi's but this is a good second

YES! Once I went gluten-free my cycle got all odd...like starting a week early one month and on time the next. Sometimes late. It got CRAZY. Getting glutened does seem to make it late for some reason. My husband bought a pregnancy test just to keep under the sink for peace of mind LOL.

ARCHIVED Anyone Not Have Kids And Not Work Too?K8ling replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I LOVE LOVE LOVE the "well kept woman" bit, I am going to use that!! Although...I am a fulltime student, mother and military wife...dang I wish I had had that a few years ago! That is just the BEST response!!

For me, it is easier to obtain. My son gets carsick and downtown macon is about 25 minutes away (on a good day) so I have to cut back on food, give him dramamine, wait for it to kick in, get downtown, get the bread, and make it back before it thaws (never happens, all my bread is crumbly from being frozen and refrozen) and occasionally clean out the car...

ARCHIVED Anyone Not Have Kids And Not Work Too?K8ling replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I was basically a full time military wife for a few months before I got pregnant and I just told people that I was a full time military wife for the time being. I guess that is acceptable as a job because despite having a degree to teach, no one bothered me about it. Just tell everyone you are on a leave of absence or hiatus or a break to "find your...

It was a little dry around the edges, but I liked it more for sandwiches than the Kinnikinnik (or however that's spelled). It has no info about shared processing and I couldn't find anything, but I ate some a few hours ago and it seems to be ok. I will look it up again later. Made a great PBJ and my son seemed almost as thrilled to see it as he is about...

I am allergic to coconut as well as being celiac...It complicates things. I would start looking for other allergies or seeing if possibly the sorbet was cc'd

I am a member of the spouses group at our base, and i have had to miss the last three play dates because the women planning them plan them AT FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS. Aside from this being terrible for the health of the kids, there are other options available. They always invite me to come play and I tell them "sorry guys, it's going to be rough being surrounded...

ARCHIVED Kids Play Center- Cc Everywhere?K8ling replied to K8ling's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I nearly got stuck...I told the guy at the top, "I can do the Marine obstacle course but I can't handle a kids play center?!"

ARCHIVED Kids Play Center- Cc Everywhere?K8ling replied to K8ling's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease LOL yeah I was a little confused at first but i got the idea. He's only 2, it's nursery school so I don't know if they eat at the tables in their classrooms or if they are in a different room. The school DOES wipe him down and change his clothes before I pick him up which is hard on me laundry wise but keeps his from CCing me. There is a student in his...

We went to a playdate today at one of those inflatable kid places...I normally hate them but went as a favor to a friend. Of course we get there and all the kids line up for snacks- soft pretzels, pizza, hotdogs and cookies. Thanks. So off the bat, the toddler is begging for snacks and has to settle for gluten-free pretzels and a gluten-free cookie. Then...

ARCHIVED Mourning The Loss Of Gluten?K8ling replied to firefightersgal's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I was a HUGE bread eater. I loved fresh crusty sourdough, my dads homemade noodles. my moms chicken pot pie, my favorite white chocolate birthday cake...All fo that just disappeared. Even cheeseburgers (because really, what's a cheeseburger without a great fresh bun?!). I miss beer and pie and brownies and cake oh wow do I miss cake. Spinach dip in a sourdough...

ARCHIVED What Is Going On When Your Stomach Bloats?K8ling replied to srfjeld's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I am FLAT as a BOARD as long as I stay away from gluten. If I get glutened I swell up reeeally bad. 22 feet of sponge is right! A few days later (and lots of poo's) I am back to flat, just...worn out lol.

ARCHIVED Am I Over-Reacting To This?K8ling replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease I have mild OCD, diagnosed, but it isn't bad enough for me to e on meds. I use breathing techniques, but my instant urge is to clean everyone and everything lol. I have gotten tons better but...I could imagine if it got worse that my husband would be a little afraid of me. It is VERY possible that with whooping cough reemerging that she was just flipping...

My husband wil be home from a deployment right before TGiving, and since it's my first being diagnosed I do think that I will offer to host it here at our house. It'll be easier and safer for me.
