  1. Oh man I WISH I could eat gluten. I miss bread lol
  2. OH WOW do I understand. The cookware at the beach house? all nonstick. I didn't get sick til the 3rd day because i had to build up enough to have a SEVERE reaction...after that initial BAD reaction, I had 3 weeks of it. I get so agitated with people who do it by choice because you're right, it IS our reality, it IS a fact of life for us. We CANNOT...
  3. WELCOME!! We all have had experiences with doctors who make us wonder why they are doctors...it sounds like you just had one. DH is FOR SURE Celiac. Ugh Like i said, welcome to the club, and we are all here to help!
  4. I was tested and it was negative however I do have a severe gluten intolerance. My doctor recently told me that based on the severity of my reactions, he thinks that I am Celiac but told me he didn't want to make me eat gluten to get a good diagnosis. He has labeled me as Celiac. Previously he had told me that it was like a food allergy and I could eat...
  5. woah. I have no idea. Is there an alien in there??
  6. I don't eat ANYTHING I can't verify source on. I treat it like a chain of evidence...last night we went to a friends house and she makes the BEST chili and I had a basic idea what was in it but I didn't know if it had been in contact with bread or gluten in ANY form so I just didn't eat anything. It sucks but...it's just safer.
  7. I have felt like this before too, it was hard for me to go out once I had my baby because I was so afraid something would happen to me and then what would happen to my baby?? I had panic attacks until I was diagnosed. Now I have a medic alert which I can take off and toss at people, and I can usually tell if I am having a bad stomach day in which case I...
  8. Poo baby FOR THE WIN!!
  9. I drink vanilla silk, but I haven't had issues with Soy, and I only use it in my tea and the occasional cereal. I was surprised with the rice milk! When I get wonky (stomach wise) I switch to strictly fresh foods, chicken breast, mashed (home made) mashed potatos, lots of fresh fruits and veggies...It gives me time to heal a little. Maybe switch to completely...
  10. The point is she had NOTHING wrong with her, she though wheat and gluten was a fad diet. Also, I avoid wheat like the plague, it makes me nervous to even eat it.
  11. I was told it is our intestines swelling but it wasn't from a doctor, it was from my bio teacher MiL...so take that with a grain of salt. My husband says it's a "poo baby" lol
  12. I am aware of that however the strain that has been circulating in our state does have occasional accompanying GI issues. We were both swabbed for flu and both of us came up positive. Also, we did have the aches, high fever, cough, and congestion. The GI symptoms weren't horrible, I suspect they were more a side effect of our fevers rising quickly.
  13. I spoke to my mother, and she reminded me that I always had a wonky stomach. It was weird because I would be fine and then BAM I would have a stomach issue. She also said when I was a toddler I threwup a lot if I ate too much bread so she pretty much cut it all out for a while and it got better. She thinks I have been "defective, digestively speaking" my...
  14. Hey! We're sick together I'm sure having a Germ/OCD issue doesn't help. I look like an OCD squirrel in the winter.
  15. My LOVELY toddler brought home the flu, and despite us both getting vaccinated for seasonal AND swine, we caught it. He was sick Sat-Weds, and I have been sick since Tuesday. Fever, aches, etc. THe odd part is that I thought I had gotten glutened at first because it affected my GI tract...and I had the same symptoms. Then when my fever popped up, we both...
  16. I met someone who claimed to be celiac as well, and then asked for a sandwich on white bread "Because it doesn't have wheat in it! It's white!". When I pointed out that it was BLEACHED wheat flour and thats a HUGE nono she gave me a blank look and said that her doctor said it was ok. It gets better: when I was quizzing her about her symptoms/reasons she...
  17. I know just how you feel, I have a toddler who will be 2 in October...he eats the same things I do except at nursery school where they wipe him down and brush his teeth before they send him out to me. Then I wipe him down again. At the beach on my family "vacation" (you all know I think it should have been called "Let's torture Kate session" but I digress...
  18. Aww just be honest. I am leggy, blonde, and in great shape and I ate the SAME WAY in college, if Sean (my husband) had said "I have this disease..." and explained it, I would have been ok with it and changed things because I REALLY liked him. Look at it this way, it doesn't matter how hot she is if she's not willing to, oh, say... not kill you with food...
  19. No bun in the oven (REALLY good news for us right now!!). Doctor said my hormones are readjusting (ie, getting normal post diagnosis). I also have a cyst. My husband did a little happy dance lol. We are SO waiting for another year before adding to our lil family Thanks for the support!
  20. I was SO there in June, my husbands WHOLE family was at the beach house and there was ONE kitchen and they had NO IDEA about anything gluten-free or what Celiac even was. It was my personal hell. Horrible horrible horrible amd I was sick the entire week. What I did manage to do was learn how to make my own food stations. I used tinfoil to prep food on....
  21. I have GI issues, and I get absent minded. Gluten also affects my periods. Gluten can affect everything.
  22. Black and coffee ground poo is a sign of internal bleeding. You need to call a doctor, ANY doctor ASAP! I doubt it's your gallbladder because gallbladder issues usually present in NOT digesting food and yellow diarrhea. The bile goes straight through you.
  23. Oh my goodness Thanks for the tip on ginger beer! I just called the commissary and asked that they order it for me. I'll keep it in the sick box. PolarBearScooby- here is my sick box. It was born out of necessity when my husband was deployed, I had a 5 month old, and I caught a stomach bug. It is a big tupperware bin that has: 8 pack of mini sprite...
  24. I understand the annoyance. My husband took FOREVER to come around, but once he figured out that I feel better and we can actually go on dates more, he was all for it! Now our house is COMPLETELY gluten-free. If he wants to eat Gluten filled food, he does it at work or out of the house, comes home, and then brushes his teeth, washes his hands and face, and...
  25. hahaha you're welcome. My husband said "did you give him milk?!" right after and I said no, his stomach was empty and husband goes "well, so much for ANY food today, let alone Dairy!" lol. He's been eating gluten-free crackers and some thai Kitchen soup (oddly he refused chicken broth- I even said he could eat it with the straw!). SO glad I had a gluten...
