  1. Ask your doctor for a prescription for melt away tabs of Zofran (Ondansetron), it's an anti nausea, and a pain killer. It doesn't do anything for the D but it DOES get the cramps to lessen enough so I can move out of a ball, and gets the nausea under control. MY doctor gives me Loritabs for when I get hit because it has a tendency to constipate which helps...
  2. We actually went to the Atlantis Grill on Flagler...the chef came out and not only specially cooked something for me, but told me how to make the marinara!! She said she had lots of gluten-free customers and that made me feel great. It was the first real meal I had eaten all week aside from my turkey stroganoff. We tipped EXTREMELY well and will be back for...
  3. Unfortunately, here's no way we can afford a hotel (not to mention the HUGE rift it would cause) HOWEVER it will just be my inlaws and not 8 other people feeding my offspring food and leaving a trail of wheat crumbs in their wake. I will be cooking all of our food and since the little guy eats earlier than everyone else I can give him a bath while they're...
  4. YIPPEE!! Doesn't it feel amazing? Congrats, and i hope it stays this way
  5. OOOH man I SO understand that. So get this- last night I am prepping my toddlers dinner (leftover turkey stroganoff) and we were going to share a bowl...and my MiL takes HER SPAGHETTI FORK and STICKS IT IN THE BOWL AND MIXES IT UP!! My husband jumped in so I wouldn't start freaking out and told her now neither one of us could eat it. She said "That's stupid...
  6. Wow this topic has made me realize that he MYTH of "Oh it's just the monthly lil visitor" is so prevalent that even I thought that everyone else had it easy. Thank you so much for sharing your experiences, ladies. It makes me feel so good to know that I am not the only woman who has to curl up with a heating pad for a week a month and pop painkillers like...
  7. I was just telling husband that this week (the "vacation" - for everyone BUT me *gir*) I had almost the same thing! Now I am all sorts of messed up from heavens knows what. I don't trust anyone with my food now . I would suggest cutting out the dr pepper and upping the fiber. Also, with the C sometimes a Larabar a day helps (it takes a few days) because...
  8. Both of these are SOOO TRUE!! And trust yourself!! I know when I get Glutened and my husband knows that now, for the longest time he would question it. Now he accepts it and just tries to help the best he can.
  9. Thank you all SOOO MUCH for all the support that I desperately needed!!! I spoke to everyone today about it. I guess seeing me balled up on the floor with my 2 year old patting my head and saying "ok mommy? ok mommy? Daddy???" really drove the point home. I learned today that despite multiple assurances that homemade ice cream was flour free IT WAS NOT...
  10. It took forever to diagnose me because all my symptoms were extremely similar to menstrual cramps. Sometimes if I get glutened during my period I STILL can't tell until the big D lol. My OB took a uterine and cervical biopsy thinking I had other girl things going on. I changed pills 6 times in 18 months because nothing made it better. Well...I have Endometriosis...
  11. Well, just got glutened...not sure how it happened but I a now balled up in my room w/my laptop. This sucks, I want to go home.
  12. Thats what I did too! I did hot pink though. My MiL laughed at THAT too!! Oh well, I still have hot pink duct tape and a bin of food.
  13. My husbands family is the same way and I am stuck on vacation with them right now. It has been harrowing to say the least for me, trying to prevent CC and whatnot. My MiL just called me "stupid" for feeding my toddler like me because I didn't want to get cc'd. I say, toss out the guilt card (even though I don't usually endorse that) and do what you need...
  14. Just had to eat downstairs in the basement because the family made FLOUR soft tacos for dinner. I fed my toddler and myself food that I had made, but because the food was eaten with the hands I asked that everyone wash theor hands after they eat before i let my toddler go back upstairs to be around everyone (so *i* don't get sick, mind you. He's fine.) ...
  15. I used to be ridiculously picky as well, but I found that after being diagnosed with my food allergy, I had to eat what I could. Now I am not nearly as picky because I am not constantly in fear of something making me feel sick. It is true that your tastebuds should sort of reset for you, and maybe you can expand your eating repertoire? I also highly recommend...
  16. Nice to see you around the forum K8ling! :-)

  17. OOOH I am SO sorry that was so awful!! That's my absolute worst fears brought to life. I would start at the top of the cruise line ladder- write a VERY strongly worded letter and detail your experiences. Give them an earful (when you feel up to it- right now recover!!).
  18. For those of you in the South/Southeast, Publix supermarkets have a link on their website that provides an entire list of Gluten-Free store Brand items. Not only are they cheaper, but Publix makes great stuff. I recently tried the bbq sauce and it was so good, and didn't make me sick! Definitely worth checking out .
  19. Those posts were mostly early on, and he has finally come around. He's gotten MUCH better and now our kitchen is totally free from stuff that makes me sick, aside from the beer and an emergency can of raviolis for the toddler. It took me getting VERY sick and him not being able to deny that it was something that we all ate. But now he understands a LOT...
  20. I have swelling too, although it isn't as severe as yours is! I'm so sorry you have to deal with that! My doctor told me that MY swelling is a result of my allergic reaction (I also get hives when I get glutened). I really hope they can find a solution for you. Maybe it IS the Diet Coke?
  21. OOOH Redbridge! Yes I would MUCH rather drink a good gluten-free beer but I really don't like Bards ( I tried. I failed). I am going to order some Redbridge today, thanks for the tip!!
  22. I am not a celiac, I just have a gluten allergy. My doctor told me that if I could tolerate it I could drink it. Remember, it IS possible to just have an allergy and not be full blown celiac!
  23. I can drink Corona all right, and I was wondering if I might be able to drink Landshark too?
  24. I couldn't function with the pain, so my doctor gave me a low dose loritab. It works for me when my pain is THE WORST and then allows me to get some sleep. You might want to ask for a weak prescription. Also, I have Ibuprofen 800s that I use after the initial loritab.
