  1. Half of a left over chicken breast and a small serving of roasted sweet potato fries.
  2. Not all celiac's become super-sensitive in their REACTIONS but all celiac's have sensitive immune systems and need to avoid gluten cc. It will NOT be safe for her if you to continue to bake with wheat flour unless you can send your daughter elsewhere for the day. You will need to be careful. If you are cooking both gluten-free and gluten foods, make sure...
  3. LOL! I don't think Love2travel ever uses canned anythign as far as I can tell. Although, her recipe sounds great! Here's what I do to make pizza sauce: 1 6 oz can of tomato paste 1 minced garlic clove (or a teaspoon of the jarred chopped stuff if you must) 1 tablespoon honey OR 1/2 Tablespoon sugar (you can adjust and add more if you want...
  4. I don't think that's over the top at all. I would ask her not to bring them in the future, but that's just me.
  5. I'm up late cooking rotisserie chicken for my husband to take to work tommorrow. I had a killer headache earlier today and took a LONG afternoon nap from 3-8. Oops. Now I can't sleep. My husband didn't cook dinner while I slept-- he just sort of grazed on snacks for dinner. So I don't have any leftovers to send. He will eat out sometimes when that happens...
  6. I started similar post a while back. Maybe it will give you some new ideas:
  7. And as an aside I did a little research on that "doctor" she keeps bringing. I could be wrong, but it seems that the dr would not be considered a medical DR in the US at all. Here are her credentials: "Natasha Campbell-McBride MD MMedSci (neurology), MMedSci (nutrition) Dr. Campbell-McBride graduated with Honours as a Medical Doctor in 1984 from...
  8. It seems that she has closed comments on that post so I don't think calling attention to her blog is goign to do any good at this point.
  9. She's not goign to get it. This is a quote from her profile info: "I am a 40-something, Wife and Mother of three. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Economics (summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from Furman University and a Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997, I left my ten year career designing and implementing financial...
  10. An elimination diet is sort of the opposite of the process you have described (if I'm undersatanding you correctly). Instead of eliminating foods one at a time you start out with only 3 or 4 foods that you know that you can tolerate (so for example: turkey, sweet potatoes and green beans). Eat those only for a week or two and then add a new whole food in...
  11. Have you tried an elimination diet to see if you are intolerant of any other foods besides gluten and dairy? Or have you had any food allergy testing done? From reading some of your other posts it sounds like you are eating a lot of processed foods. If you have another intolerance (which doesn't show up in allergy testing) it will be very difficult to...
  12. Perhaps you need to look into "once a month" or "feed the freezer" cooking. Take a weekend or whenever you have a day off and make up a bunch of meals that can be frozen in individual portions. Label them well so he knows what they are. Then he can pull out a container to reheat in the microwave when he wants something and you are not there. It will take...
  13. It's recommended that you not do oats for the first 6 months to a year. Since a small percentage of celiacs react to even gluten-free oats and it takes a while to learn the diet and eat without getting cc'd, it's just better to avoid oats in the beginning and then try them when you are sure you are felling better. However there are lots of other hot cereals...
  14. You should also ask your partner to brush their teeth and wash their face prior to kissing you if they have been eating gluten or drinking beer. If your partner likes to bake you could be glutened by breathing in airborne flour. Flour goes up in the air and stay there for up to 4 hours. If you are keeping your home mixed one of things your should really...
  15. I just eat leftovers from the previous night's dinner most of the time.
  16. It cannot be absorbed through your skin if that is what you are asking, but if someone else eats a sandwich and then touches say your remote, then you touch the remote and eat something after with your hands then you have just gotten glutened fromt touchign the remote. Some people are more sensitive than others but this is a very real scenario. You need...
  17. For baking I use palm oil shortening or coconut oil (which is a solid at room temp). I have used these with success in making cookies, cake, and non-bake items such as frostign and Rice Krispie treats. I also use them to grease pans and glass or ceramic cookware. I use LIGHT olive oil for anything that calls for melted butter or margerine. The "LIGHT...
  18. I've never used sorghum so I can't say for sure what the texture/taste is like but I would think that brown rice flour or buckwheat would sub well for it. Let us know how it turns out!
  19. I second this! You will not get bored and it's hard to mess up most crock pot recipes: Open Original Shared Link
  20. It sounds like you just need to start cooking EVERYTHING gluten free. If you do the shopping and the cooking this should not be too hard. He will adjust so long as you have lots of food on hand. Don't break down and buy anythign with gluten. If he's a hearty eater like my husband then make lots of heavy satisfying (AKA "manly") foods like chili, steak...
  21. Just wipe it really good with a damp cloth and don't ever put it in/near your mouth. Wash you hands well before eating and ask you friends/family (nicely) to wash their hands after eating. My home is gluten-free so they wouldn't be bringing any gluten in anyway. I have however gone so far as to ask my visitors to wash their hands as soon as they come in...
  22. Okay found some yeast free, vegan recipes. The Irish Soda bread (first link) looks the best to me. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
  23. I don't have a success story, sorry. I just wanted to tell you what you already know. Drop the milk and cereal. There are so MANY other things that people eat for breakfast besides cereal. Check out this breakfast thread and see what people are eating: Also look at the dinner thread for more ideas of what you can cook for yourself:
  24. I use light olive oil for everything. I think it's Bertolli brand. If you are super sensitive to cc stay away from Spectrum Organics oils. They process wheat germ oil on the same line as their other organic oils. Some people here have had issues wiht their other oils. Pretty much all other brand/types of oil should be gluten free however.
  25. Hi, I had unexplained seizures when I was on gluten. I have not had one since going gluten free (18 months now). I experienced much of what you are describing. In addition to the seizures I had tingling in my hands, pain going down my left arm, racing heart beat with chest pain, muscle paina nd muscle weakness, black outs of memory accompanying the seizures...
