  1. Oops, I just saw a similar suggestion was already made. Dairy free AND SOY free chocolate is hard to find. I use Enjoy Life brand but I only foudn it recently in one store here.
  2. flourless chocolate cupcake? Open Original Shared Link Note--she has a note that this will not work without eggs (vegan). However as long as he can have eggs I think this recipe would work with palm shortening or coconut oil in place of the butter. I have made several cakes (just not this specific recipe, sorry) using palm shortening afor the butter...
  3. Irish Heart, you are correct in everythign you said except I have to disagree with you on this one thing. I thought I would be fine when I went in for my allergy testing because the skin pricks were not ingested. They DO however go into the blood stream and the skin prick test glutened me. I had my usual neuro symptoms for a week. I posted here after...
  4. This is why we need better labeling laws. It is possible that the sauce tests at below a certain ppm and therefore the company decided to call it gluten-free. Unfortunately until better laws are in existance "gluten-free" is up for interpretation. IMO the best way to combat this until we have new laws is to "out" the companies that refuse to change their...
  5. It could be other food intolerances but it could also be cross contamiantion. Is your kitchen gluten free? Did you replace things like wooden spoons? Did you use foil or parchement paper on old cookie sheets or old pans? Are you still using old sugar or old spices that could have traces of flour in them from dipping the measuring spoons in? How old is...

  7. Yes, yes and YES! One tiny invisible crumb and I am sick in bed with joint pain (and the unpleasant GI symptoms) for a week. You would not be going overboard at all to ask for your own gluten-free countertop space, getting a new toaster fro gluten-free only, make your sandwiches ON A PLATE instead of the counter, get a new cutting board, don't use scratched...
  8. Thanks Karen. I've been gluten free for a year and half now. I had more trouble with too many raw veggies in the beginning. I thought I was over it but I guess not. I do usually much on carrots and other raw veggies a few tiems a week but I guess two days in a row of eating salad (for lunch AND dinner) did me in.

  10. Since you have been low carb for 2 years any testing you do is highly likely to show up as negative regardless of whether you have it or not. You would have to make yourself sick again by consuming the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread for around 3 months prior to blood testing. And even then there is about a 30% false negative rate. Why make yourself...
  11. I started having heartburn about midnight last night. I decided to see if I could sleep it off (it was mild last night). This morning it is terrible! The only thing new I had was Hormel Natural Choice smoked turkey. It says it's gluten-free, so I don't think it's a gluten problem. It also says no dairy in the lactic acid starter. Just wondering if anyone...
  12. Woke up early with heartburn. Where did THAT come from? All I had last night was salad and a turkey sandwich on Rudi's. So my breakfast is a handful of Pamela's ginger snaps and some pepto bismol.
  13. I have not used this one, but Sparkpeople.com has a free diet tracker. It might be more focused on tracking calories and nutrition but at least if it doesn't do what you want it to do it didn't cost anything. Open Original Shared Link
  14. If you are talking about food allergy testing, my allergist told me the opposite was true--tha thte blood testing was more accurate than the skin pricks. My skin prick tests showed no food allergies but my blood tests picked up a mild wheat allergy. That said, it is also possible to have intolerances that make you very sick and not have it show up as an...
  15. I'm glad you made it through ok and they found those polyps when they did. I hope you can enjoy your vacation!

  17. I skipped breakfast today too. I just don't feel like eating when it's hot outside. I'll try to do better tommorrow.

  19. All great ideas! Last summer I made a great green bean and potato salad but I misplaced the recipe and can't find it now. I made a different one a few weeks ago and it was good but not the same as the one I made last year. I have some Tuna Steaks in the freezer. I think I will thaw those out for this weekend and do Tuna tartare over a bed of greens.

  21. That sounds good. I think I will try to make a bean salad like that with canned Great Northern beans instead. I already have them on hand and they are easier on my sensitive tummy than black beans for some reason. Thanks for the idea! I so did not want to have to go to the store again tommorrow in the heat to buy something else cold. I have everything...
  22. My 10 pound toy poodle climbed up on the kitchen counter and ate a an entire tub of butter once. She did get sick and made quite the mess all over the carpet. She was fine after that however and we learned never to leave the butter out again.
  23. Perhaps this is his not-so-subtle way of telling you to remodel/redecorate?
  24. Sorry! I didn't see Roda's question before. I found them at Farm Fresh (grocery store chain) in Virginia Beach, VA. If anyone is in this area I can be more specific about which store location. They were in the cereal aisle next to the regular Rice Krispies.
  25. Yum! I haven't seen much watermelon yet this year but that sounds good. And the sorbet recipe looks good as well. Someone posted a recipe for "ice cream" using nothing but frozen bananas in the food processor. I plan to try that too.
