  1. That would be one LONG dinner party. I live in VA. You can come to my place for dessert and watch the sun set over the bay though. Tonight we had chicken fried rice and sugar snap peas.
  2. To start, replace your toaster. Then look at replacing any non-stick cooking pans--the scratches can harbor gluten, wooden spoons, wooden or plastic cutting boards and your pasta strainer. All these things are next to impossible to remove the gluten from and the very small amounts CAN keep you sick. Make sure your enzymes and other supplements are gluten...
  3. Lara Bars all have nuts as far as I can tell, but Enjoy Life makes some good bars that are free of the top 8 allergens (including gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, all nuts, etc).
  4. 1. Are you asking how long you have to be gluten-free before you are okay and can go back to eating it again? If so, the answer is NEVER. Whether you have celiac or non-celaic gluten intolerance a strict, 100% gluten-free diet for life is required. Just because you can eat a little bit without symptoms does NOT mean that the cookies are not doing damage...
  5. Look for Sunshine burgers. They are made with sunflower seeds and rice instead of soy and are gluten-free as well.
  6. In order to do a gluten challenge for testing purposes you would need to eat the equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread per day for about 3 months. For people testing it via dietary response I have heard that the standard advice was to eat gluten every day for a week or until you start to have symptoms again--whichever comes first. The reason for this is that...
  7. I have seen coconut milk yogurt and soy yogurt but both are expensive. You can also try alternative milks however as they won't taste the same in the smoothie as they do straight or on cereal. Almond milk and coconut milk beverage (in the half gallons in the milk section-- coconut milk in the can is different) come in a variety of flavors--plain, vanilla...
  8. Welcome to the board! I can't really answer the bloating questions but I thought that perhaps if you could give a general run down on what you have been eating we could make some suggestions. Some possible causes are: cross contamination issues, other food intolerances and difficult to digest foods. If you let us know what you eat and also what your cooking...
  9. Well, since I was in a similar situation about as year in a half ago I can answer no, I did not go back to gluten for testing. It makes me too sick to do so. I am diagnosed via dietary response. You have a pretty good dr there to recognise that the tests will be negative if he tests you now. Many drs would be testing you anyway and then when it came up...
  10. Thank you Peter! That is unsettling that it creates a new account. I will stick with the regular log-in.
  11. I want to know the answers too...I have not done it as I assumed it would show in our profile our real name or something like that.
  12. Congrats! I joined around the same time as you! Didn't that year go by fast?
  13. Throwing up would not completely purge the gluten from your system. You would still have symptoms very likely and still be doing damage to your body. There was a thread on here about eating disorders but I think the consensus was that the disordered eating was rectified for some on a gluten-free diet. Perhaps SOME people who are already bulimic are that...
  14. LOL! Yes, a buffer post between us is brilliant! I've been wondering where those hives were coming from. TY for the welcome!
  15. I'll have to work on that, but I'm quite camera shy. Don't want anyone to know my true identity. ETA: There you go! I found my secret twin and used her photo
  16. My staples: Boneless skinless chicken breasts whole chickens tilapia salmon tuna ground bison ground lamb lamb chops ground beef cube steaks stew meat roasts eggs rice potatoes sweet potatoes grits corn (corn on the cob is in season right now-yum!) popcorn (I buy the kernals and cook on the stovetop) Mission corn tortillas plain frozen...
  17. Thanks for the welcome. This board always makes me laugh. Been wondering about this thread for a while, but haven't had time to read it. So I guess I won't read. I'll write instead.
  18. Why, yes, yes I do. Only part however. I have a big white splotch of white-blonde at the top of my head and the rest of my head is dirty-blonde/light brown. All natural coloring. Hair stylist have told me that people pay big money to have that type of streaking put in their hair.
  19. K-toos all around then! With a glass of cold coconut beverage to dunk them in.
  20. Correct! That is for you to guess! Chocolate chip or K-Too (gluten-free Oreo)?
  21. Something psilly? hmmm...about the only thing psilly about me is I am part tow-head. First to know what that means gets a gluten-free cookie.
  22. <---Is this guy Chuck Norris? He is a bit like a ninja, no?
  23. ****Stumbles into the rabbit hole**** ***Gets up and dusts off**** What is this place? And please don't tell me I have to read all 3000 posts to join the conversation. I have tried a few times in the past year that I've been here and I got to about page 10.
  24. Hmmm...I just search that nearly normal flour mix and foudn the recipe. I have masa harina and it is a very finely ground flour, not like corn meal and not like corn starch either. I'm tempted to try it in place of the corn flour now since I can't use BRM. I will let you know if I do. Masa harina is great from making homemade corn tortillas.
  25. That looks great! And I already have coconut milk on hand. Thanks!
