  1. Sounds like your doing good! Sweet baby rays is my husband's favorite bottled sauce too
  2. Ive been taking some probiotics for 4 days now. Ever since I started on them I have felt really hungry but when I try to eat I feel full after just a few bites. I'm also bloated slightly, but not uncomfortably so. I tried contacting the company to make sure they were gluten free and got the usual CYA statement. I decided to take them anyway because they...
  3. I am not familiar with that brand of BBQ sauce. Kraft and Sweet baby Rays are gluten free as well. I make my own just because I can't stand HFCS (nothing to do with gluten). Olive oil is naturally gluten free unless it has somehting added to it or it is tainted during processing. There are some super sensitives on the board that have reported they cannot...
  4. MSG doesn't have gluten in it but you can be sensitive to MSG as well as gluten. Sorry you had to find out the hard way, ALWAYS CHECK THE LABEL! ________________ To the original poster: I get sick for at least a week from cc, longer if I get a large amount. The last time I was severely glutened was when I ordered gluten free pasta at Olive garden...
  5. Tonight we're having Ahi Tuna Steaks and Baked Sweet Potatoes ("baked" in the slow cooker) and probably something green, Steamed Brocoli? Green beans and almonds? Spinach? I'll decide that at the last minute as usual.
  6. There's no way I would trust a school cafe to make safe stuff. It could be so many things--the meatballs, were they made there or a package of a gluten free brand? I'm sure gluten-free meatballs do exist somewhere but it seems unlikey the school would buy them unless they have a lot of gluten free students to serve. If they were made there (and didn;'t...
  7. Well, there are lots of normal everyday foods you can eat that are gluten-free naturally. I don't like much of the "gluten-free" stuff either. Some suggestions: Tortilla chips, potato chips, popcorn, nuts, rice cakes (flavored or plain with peanut butter), gluten-free pretzels are pretty good, dried fruit, Betty crocker fruit snacks, Nature Valley Almond...
  8. Girl you can't let this disease control your life! To a certain extent it does dictate your choices of where to go and who to hang out with but you can do lots of thigns to make it better. Why don't you suggest some dates that don't revolve around food? Or dates where you can take your own food and not be weird? Make up a little picnic basket full of...
  9. Your dinner was a lot healthier than mine! I panicked at the last minute and made some Tinkyada pasta and marinara sauce. Probably could have made a salad to go with it but all I really wanted was the warm pasta.
  10. Sorry to say it but yes she was glutened by the skin prick test. I had the same thing happen to me when I did my allergy testing about a month ago. The dr did not relaly explain the test, he just said they would do a skin prick and then a blood test too. After I had time to think about it I realised of course the little needles on my skin went into my...
  11. Thanks! I have only ever seen his pasta sauces and his "essence" seasoning in stores. After seeing that list, I'm going to keep an eye out for his ceasar dressing. That's the first bottled gluten-free ceasar I have seen that doesn't have dairy and doesn't have soy.
  12. That's a very smart peridontist! Most of us have to call ahead to get the name of the products they use and then contact the manufacturers of said products on our own. The dental staff usually has no clue. Soudns like you got lucky and found a knowledgable dentist.
  13. You are not alone--see my signature. I agree with the PP about the milk subs, perhaps there is an additive in them you cannot tolerate. Have you tried makign your own rice milk or almond milk? It's really easy to do. For meals--have you seen Open Original Shared Link ? The crock pot can really help you make meals that are "normal" and things...
  14. Chicken, steak, roast, lamb, veal, fresh fish, pork chops (well I can't eat pork because of an allergy but you could). You can saute in a skillet or bake in the oven or grill or use a George Foreman (might need a new one if your old one is all scratched up) or use a slow cooker. If you don't know how to cook this is your opportunity to learn Some basic...
  15. On day two you should not expect to see dramatic results yet. In fact, some people feel worse the first week or two as their body goes through "gluten withdrawal". That said, what brand of "frozen gluten-free meals" did you eat? Many people have trouble with Amy's brand--if I remember correctly, they are made on the same lines as their non-gluten-free...
  16. It does! 30 lb bags of rice It takes forever to use up though. And you're right it needs LOTS of seasoning!
  17. Sorry, I had to disable my PM. I was having some trouble using it. Don't worry about sharing the recipe. I will see if I can get that book from my local library.
  18. Okay Julie, I did some investigating of the toolbar you downloaded and I think it is crap. I think you might have mis-typed the website name I gave you. The shopathome thing came up for me when I put an s on the end of hotcoupon. There is no s, it is hotcouponworld.com The website will have an orange background (follow my longer link to the store forums...
  19. Sounds like some kind of scam to me. You shouldn't have to jump through that many hoops to get a coupon. There are many legit websites that have printables (IP's). The ones I use most are: Redplum.com coupons.com smartsource.com These might require you to download a coupon printer. the only reason they need you to load the coupon printer software...
  20. No way, no how. I can't even enter Panera Bread without getting sick. No way I would trust baked goods made in a shared kitchen.
  21. That's a good idea. I would not ask them to take my gluten-free bun and make the burger though, I would just take the bun and put my lettuce wrapped burger on it myself after getting my order. Most restaurants cannot take outside food back into their kitchens for health code reasons. Also, I have observed (at least at the Five Guys in my area) that most...
  22. This is a very old thread. Ingredients may have changed. That said, I have found all cheese subs to be disgusting (IMO). I just make my gluten-free pizzas without any cheese now and I am happy.
  23. Yes you can be around regualar bread, you just need to be careful. If you touch it to make sandwiches or toast wash your hands after handling it. You will need your own toaster for gluten free bread. Yes, crumbs in the margarine (or peanut butter, or mayo, etc) will contaminate it. It's best if you get all your own condiments and label them as yours or...
  24. Looks like you have a pretty good list already. If you need carbs you could do: Peanut butter and Jelly on gluten-free bread (Udi's or Rudi's are pretty good brands just toast them before you make the sandwiches) Rice cakes with peanut butter gluten-free pretzels banana chips (other dried fruit?) Corn tortilla chips and salsa maybe? (I know not really...
  25. Thanks for the tip. I know they can be gotten cheap. I had one before going gluten free (it's still in my storage somewhere, need to sell it or give it away). For my next one I really want a square belgian waffle-maker with removable grids. The one I had was always a little hard to clean since I couldn't remove the grid and couldn't dunk it in water....
