  1. If you do not plan to do any further testing then you can trial the diet to see if it relieves your symptoms. You may be in the 20-30% that test false negative or you may be gluten intolerant and not celiac.
  2. Yes cc can make some people very sick. I drank a water bottle once after my husband who had been eating gluten all day and I paid for it for a week.
  3. Yes it will say in the ingredients list if there is anything other than vegetables in the bag. I use frozen veggies that have only the veggies listed with no problems. I mostly use Birdseye and Green Giant brand plain frozen veggies. You should always check the ingredient list for everything you buy, even if you have bought it in the past--ingredietns...
  4. Last night we had chicken burgers on Udi's and baby carrots. Tonight I'm making lemon pepper chicken, steamed broccoli and rice.
  5. Stainless steel pans that have been scrubbed clean are fine. It's the things that have scratches, or are pourous (like wood) that are the concern. If you are skeptical you could try to cook without these things for a couple weeks to see if your lingering symptoms disappear. You can easily use foil on baking sheets, put parchement over old cutting boards...
  6. You probably need to start baking your own bread to avoid all those. i can't handle MSG either and carragenan gives me headaches but I have no trouble with the gums.
  7. Yes, these were comments to my profile, not personal messages. I had my setting set up so that I had to approve those message before anyone could post. There were two new messages that someone tried to add yesterday. I did not approve them but tried to delete them last night. they were stillt here this mornign when I posted this but now theya re gone...
  8. Thank you, but now they are gone now. I'm not sure what happened--Perhaps they were deemed spam or perhaps I was successful in deleting them somehow. I guess I am confused because I am familiar with using private messages on other forums but these seemed to be messages posted on my profile where anyone viewing my profile could see them. I wouldn't mind...
  9. Many people with gluten intolerance/celiac cannot tolerate even gluten free oats. If I were still having symptoms I would drop oats before I dropped all those other things. Just my opinion.
  10. I am having a similar problem. It says I have 2 new "personal conversations". When I went to view them last night I saw that they were not questions directed at me specifically, but appear to be from a lost new member trying to get help from the board. I can't figure out how to view the entire meassage or how to reply to this person to let them know they...
  11. Okay I just wanted to chime in and say YOU CAN DO THIS! Believe it or not you are actually at a bit of a disadvantage being a good baker already. But that doesn't mean you can't learn. You can always learn new ways of baking. That's all gluten free is--a different genre of baking (with a few rules to learn to prevent cc). Here are some things I have...
  12. Chicken fajitas (on Mission corn tortillas) and steamed brown rice.
  13. Yes I think that's a good way to figure it out. Drop the Bob's Red Mill products and see if you improve. Good Luck!
  14. LOL! I don't even have a sister. I was hoping to get a laugh and also paint a picture not easy to forget. It's true, however many people that don't get celiac will push and push and push us to eat something. How many times do we hear people say "don't your ever want to cheat?" Or "Can't you just eat it for a special occasion?" Or "A little bit won't...
  15. What I was trying to explain is that if you react to oats there is a chance you will react to ALL Bob's Red Mill products because they are processed with oats. That is the case for me as well as for at least one other member here. We cannot use any BRM products becasue of the oat cc.
  16. I have never seen gluten in ground meat...If it were a "meatloaf" mix or something like that it would be disclosed on the package and in the ingredients.
  17. I'm curious to hear what you find out. I shop at HT all the time. I have never seen any gluten-free baked goods but I also don't spend much time looking in the bread and bakery section. If they came from a gluten-free facility off site I would consider it depending on the details. HT does have an excellent return policy for their brand name items. If...
  18. Call your dr's office and try to get an earlier appointment. Explain what is going on to the dr or nurse over the phone. If they say they cannot help you, ask to be put on a cancelation waiting list. Then (even if they say you are on a list for cancelations) call in every single day first thing in the morning (the minute reception opens) to ask if they...
  19. Do you know if you are sensitive to oats at all? I will tell you I cannot use anything by Bob's Red Mill because they process "gluten free" oats in their gluten free facility with all the other gluten free flours they make. A small percentage of celiacs cannot handle any type of oats at all. For some sensitive people cc from even gluten-free oats can make...
  20. I've been thinking about your conversation for a while and trying to figure out what my own response would be if someone told me that. This might come off as offensive to some people but I very much believe celiac is a part of who we are and that does not have to be a bad thing. You need to always remember that you have celiac because that vigilance keeps...
  21. I'm so sorry you got sick. You learned the hard way, however, that you need to ask about their preparation before diving in to "gluten free" baked goods at a place that also makes regular baked goods. There is a bakery in my area offering "gluten free" items. I asked them how they prevent cross contamination, specifically do they have separate pans, flour...
  22. I hate to say this, but putting it in yogurt only compounds your problem if you DO end up having worse symptoms. How do you know you are not reactiong to casein in the yogurt? No, like the pp posters said it is better to eliminate gluten for several months, see if anything changes and then add it back in for one week (or until you have an obvious reaction...
  23. I had that problem with Rudi's gluten free bread. I found it once and have not found it since. I even spoke to the manager who told me she would make sure the freezer case was stocked next week when the "organic" bread guy came. I was very specific that i needed the gluten free/wheat free Rudi's (even spelled Rudi's out). Several weeks have gone by and...
  24. This may be old news already, but I just wanted to share for my Canadian friends here. I saw this announcement on facebook today: "General Mills is excited to announce that we are bringing two varieties of gluten free CHEX cereal to Canada! Great tasting Honey Nut Chex and Rice Chex will be available in the cereal aisle at national retailers across the...
  25. My reactions are delayed as well and just like you describe. The day after I have gltuen I will have the neurological symptoms--shakey hands, brain fog, fatigue, muscle aches and pains, fever even sometiems like I'm getting a cold. I will have stomach pain and C for about 2 days and then 3-4 days of D. So all in all eating just a little gluten puts me...
