  1. BBQ chicken (love2travel's sauce recipe), spinach with garlic and steamed rice.
  2. I use coupons, shop the sales and buy some things in Bulk at BJ's warehouse (sort of like a Sam's Club or Costco). I also don't buy too many gluten free specialty items. Most of my meals are things that are naturally gluten free without needing to use special flours or alter ingredients much. Pasta and bread are a once a month treat instead of being a...
  3. I recently made Betty Crocker gluten-free chocolate chip cookies using Spetrum Naturals Palm Shortening. They were a little crumbly, but I think that mix is always crumbly. They tasted just like when I have made them in the past with butter (when I could still have butter). The BC mix does not list milk on it (I checked and doubel checked since I have...
  4. I made this today to use on BBG chicken tonight. The only things I did differently was to use coocnut aminos in place of the W sauce (I can't have soy), use light brown sugar instead of dark (didn't have any dark), and instead of cayenne I used my own home-grown ground dried chilis (which is VERY spicy so I only used 1/4 teaspoon). I tasted a little after...
  5. Is there anything that you changed recently that could be glutening you? It may be something as simple as a handsoap with wheatgerm oil in it or a new product that you started using. OR a product you have always used that has changed ingredients recently. Check EVERYTHING, even if you have always been fine in the past. For food, try not to eat gluten...
  6. This is one of my favorites: Open Original Shared Link It works well with a whole chicken too instead of turkey. Also, check out her other recipes on that blog. They are all gluten free!
  7. I just take my own food. I don't let anyone else cook for me except my mom and even then I'm in the room when she does it and she is using my pots and pans. She doesn't live with me and doesn't have to cook like this all the time so I can see how it would be easy to make a mistake even if she was trying to be careful. I would feel so bad if I ate something...
  8. I'm confused. If you were diagnosed as celiac why did you ever go back to eating gluten? Did your dr not tell you to go gluten free as part of your diagnosis? You also got pretty bad guidence in the weight-loss department. Don't get me wrong and all it's great that you have lost so much so fast! BUT the weight loss might have come anyway if you went...
  9. I can't eat Sweet Baby Rays because of the HFCS. I know most people don't have a problem with it, but that might be what you are reactiong to as well if you don't eat much processed food. It used to be my DH's favorite brand too! I was so bummed out that all the flavors had HFCS. For those that can eat Sweet Baby Rays though, there are always coupons...
  10. Sorry you had that happen! I have the same thing happen to me when I take Sudafed. I take benedryl and the walmart brand benedryl and I'm just a little sleepy from it.
  11. Thanks! I was wondering what to use instead of matzo.
  12. All things I love too! Do you have a latke recipe you always use? I would love to have it if you care to share. Thanks.
  13. Just like the rice thread I started, let's list our favorite potato recipes/meal ideas. They are cheap comfort food and you can even grow them at home if you have the right climate. Include sweet poatoes/yams too! I'll list the most common ones I make fisrt... 1. Baked potatoes (in the oven, microwave OR slow cooker) 2. Baked sweet potatoes...
  14. These sound good! I have made black bean burgers almost the same way, I never would have thought to make rice burgers. ------------------------------ Thanks everyone for the recipes and meal ideas. I especially love how most of these are "normal" meals that don't require anything special to make them gluten free. That's pretty much my cooking...
  15. That is scary and I can relate! With dairy I suspected lactose intolerance so I avoided it for six months along with gltune then I added it back ina nd seemed to be fine with it. Then one night I ate a yogurt and couldn't breath--my tongue was swellign up and I thought I was going to have to go to the ER. I managed to get a benedryl down and it helped...
  16. I'm just curious, are any of your reactions anaphylactic or hives-producing or are they more like intolerances like gluten? I have the reaction where my tongue swells up or my throat closes when I eat shellfish, pork, and now just recently dairy. I break out in hives from mushrooms and lotions with wheat germ oil in them. I'm really looking forward to...
  17. This is great! They actually tried to locate him to interview him. Just from looking at his FB page before he took it down it appears he moved back to Pawcatuck (Pascatuck? not sure of the spelling) New Jersey. He graduated from High School there so it's his home town apparently. Anyone care to alert the media of his new whereabouts? I would love to...
  18. I don't know but I'm interested in everyone's responses. I go to see and allergist next week.
  19. It's not the people with celiac disease or legitimate questions that post offensive stuff. It's the random spammers that exist on the internet that will try to post ads for things like penis pumps and stuff that is a concern. I'm sure the board owners and mods have the post minimum there because some of those bots are persisitant and will keep trying more...
  20. I found this recipe for vanilla powder: Open Original Shared Link Takes a few weeks to get the flavor but it might be worth it and if it doesn't work in this recipe you could use it for other things
  21. This sounds wonderful! Thank You for sharing. For vanilla maybe you can use some type of vanilla bean powder in place of the cocoa? I have no idea what brands are gluten free/dairy free but I know I have seen vanilla powder or vanilla sugar that is just like powdered sugar and ground vanilla beans. Maybe you can make your own? I'm not sure...Let us know...
  22. I just had to tell you that all this could very well be caused by gluten. When I have been glutened I have an irrational fear of bugs. If I see a spider in the corner I completely freak out. I am scared for no reason at all. I have called my husband crying before because I knew I had to kill a bug and I was too scared to go near it. Then after I killed...
  23. They're a mystery then! Maybe they changed the BBQ name recently and you have an old canister? Is there and expiration date on them anywhere? Is there a contact us phone number on them? You could try calling.
  24. That didn't take long. I don't think it matters however. This story has just about gone viral. Some blog posts I found with a quick search: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link
