  1. I love this game. This is great! Glupons-- (Gluten + Coupon) Coupons that can only be used for gluten-containing food. (So of course they are worthless to me. I do trade with my Gluponer friends though for Gluten free product coupons.) Glumercials (Gluten + Commercials) Commercials on TV for Gluten food.
  2. All of the products I have in my pantry from the Asian food store came from Thailand, none from China. I eat the rice paper wrappers and rice noodles and bean thread noodles frequently (several times a week). I have only used the rice flour a couple times. So far no reactions and I am very sensitive to CC. I HAVE reacted however to Bob's Red Mill products...
  3. I don't have experience traveling much gluten free, but I would like to go to someplace like South Africa. Their main staples are sweet potatoes and corn. Here's an interesting link, with many recipes that are gluten free: Open Original Shared Link Also from that link if you click on "Food in Every Country" it will give you a list of countries and you...
  4. Many, many celiacs react to oatmeal, even GLUTEN FREE Oatmeal in the same way as gluten containing grains. Some lists for grains that have gluten will even have oats included. Technically they don't have the same type of gluten as Wheat, rye and barely, but many of us have to avoid oats all the same. I think you should try cutting out the oatmeal and see...
  5. I've never heard of that restaurant, would you share where it is located? Will keep it in mind if I travel near one. Thanks.
  6. Even if the regular frapps were processed in a gluten free facility I would recommend avoiding them. I used to work at a coffee house and we did not wash the blenders thoroughly in between customers. We just rinsed them well and went on to the next drink. So if the person before you got a LIGHT Frapp and you got regular, there could be residue from the...
  7. How long have you been doing the elimination diet? I felt tired and like I had a cold coming on for the first week or two. The first few days were the worst. By the end of week two, however I felt better than I had in years. I think everyone is different in how long it takes to get over the withdrawal period. If you have been feeding your body mostly...
  8. I don't eat anything that says made on shared equipment, even if it's gluten free. I'm super sensitive to gluten cc and it sounds like you just found out the hard way you are too. For taco shells I use Mission corn tortillas. Mission says on their website they make their corn tortillas in a separate facility from the flour tortillas. SO far I have never...
  9. Not nearly to the extent that you are describing, but I lost some use of my right hand. It would sporadically go numb like it had been injected with that stuff they give you for oral surgery. I could move my fingers, but I couldn't control the movements very well and couldn't pick things up or open things with that hand. I also had numbness on one half...
  10. Thanks sending Hubby to the store soon. Will make him choose somethign from the list. I just can't think straight. Too tired and need to get all this junk out of my lungs so I can breath. I really need a nighttime cough and cold drug so I can sleep tonight.
  11. Somehow I have come down with a cold or something. I have a nagging cough, sinus congestion, extremely sore throat. Was up all night last night coughing and blowing my nose. I had some halls cough drops but they weren't cutting it. I have upped my vitamin C and I'm drinking lots of liquids to try to fight this thing, but I think I'm going to need an OTC...
  12. What was in the gluten free pasta? I had a bad reaction to Quinoa pasta that was certified gluten free. It turns out I can't eat Quinoa either.
  13. Thank you for sharing your history and please keep updating this thread. I had three miscarriages in three years. I have strongly suspected gluten. We have stopped trying and won't try again until I am at least a year gluten free. I'm glad to read you are doing well with this pregnancy!
  14. I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. Here's that thread:
  15. I'm doing great, as long as I don't get glutened. I sort of did things backward, but it worked out for me. I cut out all possible allergens--all grains, all dairy, all sugars, and even most fruit for a month. I ate nothing but grilled meat and veggies then I started to add things in one at a time to see how I reacted. My reaction to wheat led me to suspect...
  16. Since it's genetic I think they both should get tested. I'm still trying to convince my parents to get tested. I suspect they have it because between them they have several diseases that go hand-in-hand with celiac, but they haven't been sick enough to want to get tested. I will keep working on them, however. I've only been gluten free for 7 months, so...
  17. I have one of those old-fashioned hand crank pasta makers. I have not used it to try to make gluten free pasta (and won't because it was previously used to make gluten pasta), but based on my limited experience with gluten free doughs I don't think it would work well. I may be wrong because I haven't tried making pasta, but every gluten free dough I have...
  18. I'm coming to your house for dinner! Everything sounds yummy! Except I can't have anything with soy. One thing that stands out in looking at what you eat is a lot of is soy. I don't know if that could be causing your problems, but I know I have read about soy messing with thyroid function. It may not mess it up enough to show up on a test as hypothyroidism...
  19. Do you mean they bake it right on the oven grate and not on it's own pan or stone? I don't think that would be safe at all! Unless they stop all pizzas from baking and heat the oven to 650 degrees for 30 minutes before putting your pizza through. Which, I'm sure they didn't do because they would have some upset people if they had to wait more than 30 minutes...
  20. NO! Don't answer the phone! I don't think you are crazy at all. Just because a food allergy doesn't show up on a test doesn't mean that a food is not to blame. I don't have an allergy to soy, but if I consume too much of it I get emotional, have achy muscles, migraines and feel run down. What are you eating everyday? What is your diet like? Maybe we...
  21. I also wanted to say that for salt, I use Kosher salt and Sea Salt. They are the only ones I could find that had just "SALT" as an ingredient. Plain table salt should be gluten free, but I have read that the iodine in it can irritate DH so I stay away from plain table salt.
  22. All of McCormick's single ingredient spices are gluten free.
  23. Yes, I think it's related. I had memory problems for years as well as dizziness/lightheadedness. It may take a while for those symptoms to go away completely. Keep her on a very strict gluten free diet and also have her vitamin levels checked routinely to make sure she is getting everything she needs nutrition-wise. It's great that you found out about...
  24. The blood tests have a high false negative rate. If you were gluten free or even gluten lite for a while before you had the blood test done it will make the results inaccurate. The best test now is to stop eating gluten. If your symptoms go away when you stop eating gluten then you have your answer. It sounds like you already figured that out, so listen...
  25. This is my take on the situation too. Maybe she likes "weird" people?
