  1. Wouldn't that be something? Maybe they'll have to come to our house for peka one day...
  2. I loved my gluten challenge because I got to pig out on gluten. Needless to say I did not get sick before anyway. Now that I have been strictly gluten free for a year I am not about to re-try! Anyway, good doctors recommend the equivalent of 3-4 pieces of bread a day for 3 months. I just ate normally and didn't track it on paper but did mentally...
  3. Roast Shoulder of Lamb with Garlic, Rosemary and Thyme Celeriac and Potato Mash with Grainy Mustard and Roasted Garlic Orange Spiked Peas with Mint Quick Cucumber Pickle
  4. You are so right! Thread starters may not be thread continuers but we can be! I wonder if those are true panko crumbs. It would be interesting to find out - the picture does not really look like it but it is hard to tell. I will look into it. I am officially now on a gluten-free panko finding mission. The nearest Whole Foods is literally probably...
  5. That sounds lovely! I have never had it done in a fireplace but we often grill it. Forgot to mention roasted asparagus and mushrooms.
  6. Not a dish but an ingredient that cannot be replicated. Authentic Japanese panko crumbs. Sure, you can make your own crumbs from bread heels, etc. but not panko. There is nothing else like them. Kinnikinnick sells their own version but they are just fine crumbs that are a far cry from panko. I rarely do breading but they certainly would come in handy...
  7. Oh, yum! Yours certainly was healthier than mine. By the way, is there any way to join Pinterest without going through FB? I do not have an account nor do I want one but Pinterest looks, well, interesting!
  8. Oh, how sweet you are! Truly. Thank you - it was a lovely day with a great dinner. It so happens that we do have a big chunk of cake left with your name on it! How shall I send it? Collect? Fax? Cooking is one of my several passions but it is tiptop of the list. I do love to travel as well - in six itty bitty weeks we leave for our house in...
  9. Yum! I, too, am smitten with coconut flour and use it for pancakes, cakes, brownies, cookies and bread.
  10. Exactly. So many products are naturally gluten free anyway. In fact, I buy far more products that are not labeled as those that are. I try to stay away from processed junk.
  11. Simple tonight (tomorrow is another fab dinner!). Poblanos stuffed with Manchego, Monterey Jack and Creamy Chorizo Ragu Bay Scented Steamed Rice Corn Salsa ...and...delicious homemade birthday cake! It is a very moist white cake with toasted coconut buttercream and shaved coconut on top.
  12. Mine was discovered through genetic screening. My sister was gluten intolerant so I was tested. Believe me - my shock and surprise threw me into denial until I had my biopsies done, confirming I have celiac. I had no clue. No symptoms. Looking back I can now attribute my miscarriages, at least in part. When the surgeon told me I could not believe...
  13. Similar in ways to Lucia's lunch except mine is not quite vegetarian, nor is it celebratory of St. Patrick's Day. It is also not nearly as extensive. I did not plan for St. Patrick's Day, sadly. Twice Baked Potato with Chorizo and Aged Goat's Cheese Cucumber Salad - at least the cukes are green! Sparkling Apple Juice
  14. This sounds incredible. You really prove it to us that you can cook and eat extremely well without meat. Love your little green tea joke.
  15. Hope I'm not too late to wish you a very hapy gluten-free birthday and a wonderful year! xoxo Marilyn

  16. We've just got to be related somehow, my dear. Are you SURE we're not?
  17. Wouldn't it be great? Notice how I have the uncanny ability of turning every topic into food?
  18. Can you imagine if you were all to get together and celebrate with traditional dishes ubiquitous to that ethnicity? Wow. If that happens I would like to be there.
  19. Many thanks for the good wishes. I so look forward to dinner! Fat, calories and cholesterol don't count tonight.
  20. Thank you, Simona. Make sure to save a piece of your uncle's birthday cake for me! Oh, so sad you were sick and now...uh...that. I get so sick then, too, with such bad cramps and stuff. You probably don't want to hear this but tomorrow I am making a delicious birthday cake for myself - three layers of moist white cake with a toasted coconut...
  21. Why not use toaster bags? You can use them in any toaster.
  22. - How about making (or buying) delicious crackers or even focaccia bread and take along some great cheese? - Hard boiled eggs - Homemade cereal bars?? - Dried fruit and nuts (even fruit leather - easy to make) - Homemade biscuits, scones, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, biscotti, brownies
  23. Grilled Marinated Spicy Moroccan Lamb Chops with Yogurt Sauce Roasted Butternut Squash Risotto with Mint Roasted Asparagus Puree with Bacon Jam Cinnamon, Cumin and Brown Sugar Roasted Chickpeas Vanilla Bean Panna Cotta with Raspberry Gelee Should be ok.
  24. Thank you so much! I appreciate it. It is sort of nice to feel spoiled!
  25. I would be happy to. I will be home late afternoon (to cook my birthday dinner!) but will post it tomorrow. It is really very good. Have you had the rice cakes before? They are about 1/4" thick, maybe a touch thicker, and round like cutting off a log. They are one of my favourite new things. They are very chewy as they are thick but so interesting.
