  1. Do a wee bit of googling and you'll find tons of recipes to make your own that are far yummier than bought! They are fun to make and even better to eat.
  2. Baby Back Ribs with Memphis Rub and (homemade) Spicy Sweet Barbecue Sauce Roasted Chili Fries with Melted Aged Cheddar and Scallions (planks cut into 1/4" wide slices - they were nice and crispy) Sauteed Brussels Sprouts with Pancetta and Crispy Capers Homemade Banana Pecan Bread (I roasted the bananas and pecans first to really concentrate and accentuate...
  3. Oh, Jess. I am SO very sorry. My heart aches for you. Miscarriages are so devastating. I've been there and understand, though mine happened before my celiac diagnosis. It made me so furious when people would tell me there wasn't enough for a bond and that it was probably for the best, anyway. Well, that was crap. Don't listen to people who mean well...
  4. The exact same thing happened to me - I was off gluten for four months then had to go back on for my biopsies. So, as a huge food lover, I made a rather lengthy list of 87 (not joking) gluten-y foods I wanted just one more time. Some of them were: - yeast doughnut - Steak Wellington with puff pastry - anything with phyllo - chewy bagel - huge...
  5. Blueberry mango smoothie with hazelnut agave. Tastes like soft ice cream!
  6. Butternut squash, porcini mushroom and spinach bechamel lasagne is killer. When I make lasagne I use pasta sheets I make myself. It is so easy to do with my pasta maker (although you wouldn't need one - just roll out as thinly as possible).
  7. I made: Miso Glazed Cod (it caramelized so nicely!) Grilled Asparagus with Lemon Aioli Creamy Cheese Grits Frozen grapes (frozen grapes are one of my favourite snacks of all time)
  8. Hi! Guess what? You CAN make excellent gluten-free gravy. Just substitute another starch (i.e. some like cornstarch, others sorghum flour, others a rice flour). There you go!
  9. We are having delicious jambalaya with andouille, chicken and shrimp. Unsure of the side at this point but for dessert I made a rum cake with salted caramel frosting.
  10. You and me both - I did not react to gluten, either. I have no clue whether I would now (have been off nearly a year) and not am about to find out. However, I was away for the past two weeks, visiting family (lots of little nieces and nephews) and have no idea whether I was glutened. I cooked about 95% of the meals myself and was very careful but still...
  11. I bake with it a lot and really like it. Nine eggs sounds like a lot for 3/4 cup of flour. I know that coconut flour really sucks up moisture but that just seems like too much liquid (along with all that honey and ghee). However, there is also 1 cup of cocoa. Brownies are easy with just coconut flour and you do not need any gums as brownies do not...
  12. Blueberry and raspberry smoothie. My homemade French baguette grilled and dipped into peppery olive oil and balsamic.
  13. lc, could you please post the recipe you used? Then we'll pick it apart for ya.
  14. Still getting back into things after being away for a couple of weeks. Simply smoky chipotle, black bean and pancetta soup with lime creme fraiche. Frozen green grapes for dessert. Tomorrow will be a different story!
  15. Thanks, IH! It is great to be missed! And here is a giant helping for you...
  16. If there is pasta on the menu, please make sure the noodles are made from scratch! I would not be interested in going to a gluten-free restaurant if commercial pasta was on the menu. My scratch pasta is killer but I might be tempted to try it at a restaurant, too. I would love to see chewy pretzels, bagels and croissants available. I'm trying to...
  17. They certainly are easy to make. This is just one of the recipes I like... Open Original Shared Link
  18. Peach melba smoothie. It was thick and luscious.
  19. You could try Better than Bouillon. It comes in a jar and is a flavourful concentrated paste that comes in many flavours. You could also make broth as it is very easy - it freezes well, too.
  20. You can make Nutella: Open Original Shared Link I believe Nutella is gluten-free, anyway. You can also make ravioli. A few of us here make our own pasta and love it! That way you can fill the ravioli with whatever you like.
  21. I've been away for two weeks and am finally back home. Tonight we are having Japanese: Braised Chicken Thighs with Soy Balsamic Glaze Gomaee (spinach with sesame dressing) Steamed Rice Daikon and Nori Salad
  22. Next time I am in Edmonton (where the Kinnikinnick store is located) I am going to pick up some of their new soft gluten-free bread and buns. I confess to strongly disliking a few of their products but liking a few others so am very curious to see how these new products stand up. Apparently we can now throw away our toasters as this bread makes great sandwiches...
  23. One of my huge projects is learning Croatian which will be very practical as we own a home in Croatia. Several books with CDs were recommended to me by a friend. I agree that immersion is absolutely the best way of getting a grasp on the language so you can hear the pronounciation and pick up little eccentricities. On our last trip I purchased a few Croatian...
  24. I'm with you, Sylvia! FAR better.
