  1. So, I am a seasoned cook and baker. Very seasoned. The monstrosity that came out of my oven today is my first gluten-free failure (and I've been baking a LOT of gluten-free breads, etc.) and what a failure it is. Too bad I did not take a photo before I threw it out. I cannot believe I just threw out baking. Let me describe it: It is as white as...
  2. This may sound odd but sometimes I have unconventional breakfasts. I made myself yummy potato salad.
  3. Potato Fritters with Homemade Plum "Ketchup" Grilled Local Cumberland Sausages Sauteed Brussels Sprouts Leaves with Crispy Sage Homemade Focaccia Bread
  4. Yes, it certainly is. YAHOO and YIPPEE! Doing the cheese dance...
  5. 1/4 English + 3/4 German = Me!
  6. You have been a very, very bad girl indeed. Grinding spices is practically therapeutic as well as making the house smell lovely and exotic. So plug in that grinder and have at 'er!
  7. Chili Sweet Potato Fries Frozen grapes Raw cucumber Oops - this was my lunch! Breakfast: Glutino toast with peanut butter Poached egg
  8. Stir Fry with Rice Cakes (no, not those rice cakes - the dense chewy ones) and Shaved Asparagus Strawberries and kiwi for dessert
  9. Irish, I can tolerate most dairy! YAY!!!!! I cannot drink regular milk but I happily use lactose-free milk (and yogurt). Feta still bothers me, too, but I can do aged cheeses and yes, I did ricotta with only a few tummy rumblings. I do not eat young cheese very much at all. In fact, I try not to eat any sort of cheese more than 2-3 times per week just...
  10. Hi! Cougie, the long red thingy is just a lobster tentacle for esthetics.

Hi, Marilyn! Doesn't it look fantastic? We'll be in Croatia again in ten little weeks.

  11. I'm foflmao. I just popped in to ask what the profile picture is. I thougt it was a cherry dessert too!

  12. Thank you so much for posting this info. Prague is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever visited. I will keep this information for our next trip.
  13. I so feel for you and your doctor shopping, not to mention your health problems. In addition to my doctor being gorgeous, he is compassionate, spends a lot of time with me even though the waiting room is full and is a superb listener. He is willing to accept suggestions, too. Plus he is knowledgable. So I consider myself extremely fortunate, especially...
  14. I bake frequently and use flaxmeal and flax seed often - even in smoothies. However, if I use whole flax seed I crush the seeds or grind first as they are better absorbed than leaving them whole.
  15. Believe me - I do not eat tiny amounts! Sometimes I have Eggs Benedict and fruit; other times smoothies; other times leftovers from dinner. I could easily eat what you do and more. I also have a mid morning snack of lactose-free yogurt or raw fruit and/or a handful of raw nuts. Without a snack I would be famished. Morning is my hungriest time of the...
  16. Yep - that's me! After my bloodwork I was told to go off gluten which I did for four months. Then I had to go back on for the biopsies which I wanted (as I was in denial and did not believe the bloodwork). When I went back on gluten for four months absolutely nothing happened. I did not get sick or anything. At that point I was so certain I did not have...
  17. I'm so sorry but this scenario just is not worth possible regrets later.
  18. Irish, I know people who say they could not go to my doctor because he is TOO hot. But the great thing is he has no clue. I just don't like seeing him for, well, you know. Maybe he has a brother in the U.S. for your sake.
  19. Where the heck do you find these doctors?? In Canada our wait times are atrocious (i.e. I had to wait 18 months to see an orthopedic surgeon) but I have not heard of this celiac stupidity here. I would guess it does happen but man, have I been lucky. My family doctor is very aware and knowledgable, not to mention incredibly good looking. But that...
  20. These flavours are akin to deviled eggs but your idea of turning it into a spread is great! Do you toast it or use it in other ways? I love that you post your photos. For some reason it never crosses my mind to do it.
  21. Our winter has been the mildest ever recorded. EVER! But our mild is probably too cold for many others. Anyway, our snowfall has also been the lowest ever. Today changed that. Tonight is to get down to -27F but that is pretty normal. Doesn't mean we have to like it!
  22. If you really want to OD on Sticky Toffee Pudding, go to IH's house and then come over to mine as I love to make it as well. Easy peasy. Just dress warmly as we are in the midst of a cold blizzard.
  23. Yesterday: Calvados Apple Cider - Glazed Baby Back Ribs Ricotta Rosti Roasted Asparagus drizzled with olive oil and lemon juice Horseradish Brandy Deviled Eggs
  24. You mention a faulty oven - is it reliable at all? Is it large to hold just one cookie sheet? Roasting vegetables is the way to go for best flavour rather than boiling. Just cut up whatever the veg is (i.e. carrots, fennel, potatoes, sweet potatoes, radishes, beets, tomatoes, zucchini, green beans - almost anything), toss with some oil, season well with...
