  1. Greetings from a fellow food person. Although I have celiac, I continue to be a professional recipe teser as well as teach cooking classes. At first it was difficult for me to mentally come to terms with my diagnosis as I was in denial but after a few months it became just a normal part of my daily life. In fact, my diagnosis has forced me to become even...
  2. Oh, wow! I would love to know all about the gluten-free store in Saskatoon. I was just there today, actually, and ate at Truffles again.
  3. It must be hard to give up your dream of Asian travel (and eating street food) but I am glad that you are planning a trip to Europe! That is awesome. I am unsure whether you have been to Italy or not but it is a great place for those with celiac. Good for you for still traveling. It is so important to do things that we love.
  4. Hi, Barry! I used to live in Saskatoon when I was going to university and know it very well. And, like you, I love to travel the world. We currently live in Alberta and own a house in Croatia. We travel to Europe two months a year and our next trip is in May. Where do you like to travel to? BTW, have you eaten at Truffles and Bliss Fine Foods in...
  5. Spreading it with nutella is also great - then you can top with roasted hazelnuts. Homemade butterscotch is also lovely on sweet pizza.
  6. Banana and strawberry smoothie and a poached egg. Still visiting family so am playing it simple and safe!
  7. I love making bagels and think they ARE worth making. However, as I am away from home I do not have my recipes with me. I will be home in a week and will post a recipe for you then.
  8. Hi there! I was born and raised in Saskatchewan but now live in Alberta. What area of SK are you from?
  9. Thanks! I am actually on vacation visiting family so have not posted for ages! I miss it, too.
  10. It's upsidedown crab?! Wow!!! So whats the long red thingy! ( still think it looks like some kind of crazy dipped cherry dessert...Its hard to tell the scale from the photo)...LOL....I still think it looks yummy! Have you eaten it before?! Is it something you've made?!

  11. It took a long time but I managed to get through it. I had to force myself but the food slowly crept down and I didn't vomit or anything.
  12. Thanks! They are. All my siblings have wee children so are always happy when someone takes over in the kitchen. One of my sisters and my mom refuse to cook dinner when I am there which is actually sad because I do not critique others' meals, just mine, as I strive to improve. Thankfully they do lunch but now that I am diagnosed with celiac that changes...
  13. Oh, thanks so much. Tonight we ate out at a restaurant I trust. The chef's wife has celiac so most of the menu is naturally gluten free (like high-end restaurants are) and he knows all about CC. This is what I had: Truffled potato chips (amuse bouche - husband had house bread with tapenade - I love it that they bring celiacs yummy things, too) Scallop...
  14. IH, you make me blush! It may sound odd but I am so into cooking that if I am not satisfied entirely with a dish or meal it really bothers me - I then come up with ways to make it better. I just don't like settling! I type this as I sit in my hotel room. That shows how important all of you are on this forum! Thanks for the good wishes. I...
  15. Probably one of the most boring meals for about five years. I am going away for two weeks (to see my family, at 5 different homes!) so packing up is a chore, especially for all my gluten-free stuff and kids' 2012 birthday gifts organized. Local Cumberland sausage (it seemed very wrong not to have Bangers and Mash) Leek Patties Rosemary and Thyme Roasted...
  16. No problem. Honestly, cakes are even easier to make gluten free than cookies. Probably the easiest of all is brownies, then cakes and cupcakes and quick breads, then cookies...oh, and pastry is very simple to make - actually, even easier than gluten pastry because it doesn't fight back. It just sits there!
  17. Wow, Simona - those are gorgeous! You have been busy. What are the heart-shaped treats?
  18. Simona, that is awesome! I am dying (well, itching) to try these soon. I will be away for two weeks but will try them when I return. I still think of you and your Challah bread - I've made it since and it is very good.
  19. I've only bought a few loaves (several months ago - still have two in the freezer) and the last loaf had to be used for filler for meatloaf and so on because there was no way I was going to toast air! Wouldn't have worked so well for spreading on some jam. Where would it go?
  20. A delicious, scrumptious, delectable mango strawberry smoothie. It was so thick my spoon stood up in it. My new favourite flavour combination. Mmmmmmmmmm.
  21. Can't wait for your review! Soft and good commercial gluten-free bread seems like an oxymoron. Perhaps I will have to order it.
  22. I bet the urology forums discuss the other "p" word! But I can almost guarantee they do not discuss toasters.
  23. Yes - I know it may be a bit odd to time it but curiosity got the best of me. Will time how long it takes my homemade baguette to toast up tomorrow! Just think of what you can do in 22 minutes. You can make a delicious meal, go for a walk, make a phone call to your internet provider (no, wait - that takes 202 minutes), read 1/10 of a book...
