  1. Turkish Vegetarian: - Sweet Potato Cakes with Pomegranate - Mung Beans with Caramelized Onions and Nigella Seeds - Pistachio, Rose Water and Honey Ma'amoul Cookies
  2. I'll be on the next plane! And yes, I will cook without feeling as though I'd be taken advantage of!
  3. Oh, how lovely! I am SO happy for you! (Dripping sarcasm - wish I could find a smiley for that!)That is a difference of over 100 degrees. Wow.
  4. Anna and Mr. Bates MUST get married or else. They will have us rowdies to answer to! You are spot on with the characters. They are so admirably played. Even O'Brien's friend (man, I'm having a foggy moment again as I cannot grasp his name) makes me angry but he is a good actor. It is interesting how these characters elicit such responses! ...
  5. Oh, sorry. I hope I didn't offend you! When it comes to cooking I am rather eager when making comments. How was your soup? Delicious, I bet! Yes, it is cold. We live in northern Alberta.
  6. It warmed up to -26F - it is practically bathing suit weather! Oh. I forgot. There is some windchill.
  7. You practically took the words right out of my mouth!
  8. The first couple of months after my diagnosis we did separate stuff but thought of how ridiculous this was. Most things I cook are intrinsically gluten-free, anyway. So, my husband chose to go gluten free so our home is gluten free. My husband sometimes has gluten at functions but not at home. Gluten-free cooking is just as fabulous so we both enjoy it...
  9. Although this did not happen to me, I would like to add my congratulations. What an awesome result! I rejoice with you and can feel your happiness.
  10. You CAN and WILL do this. Take a deep breath and just go. Do not think about what could happen in the future. It may, it may not. But you took control over your panic attacks the other day and even had fun! You can conquer your fears. It is extremely liberating and gratifying. Maybe even buy yourself a little something as a reward or do something special...
  11. A really big WOW. This is exactly what this forum is all about. You cannot know how happy I am that you went out with your sister shopping. That is such great success. When you turn a corner like this then the next thing becomes easier then the next even easier until BANG - you are doing more and more without even thinking about it! You did very well...
  12. We are on Season 2 and will be watching episode 3 Sunday. Do you have any favourites?
  13. I admit it. I am addicted to Downton Abbey. My favourite characters include so many but if I had to choose I would say Mr. Bates and Anna. I love Mrs. Crawley, too. Maggie Smith is a brilliant actress. Any other hopeless addicts out there with any favourites?
  14. I was actually just thinking about that a couple of minutes ago. A slow simmer is actually better than boiling BUT sometimes you just do not have the time to simmer for a couple of hours! Either way, it works just fine and I hope you love your soup. It is mighty cold here right now (windchill -51F) so soup sounds sooooo good.
  15. I love to make fricos and pipe in a mousse such as goat's cheese with chives. Fricos are simply made - just grate some Parmesan, place in a little pile in a circle and bake. It hardens and forms a round which you can then form into a little taco or cigar or whatever. Then fill with filling. I also like to fry wontons for wonton chips and serve with interesting...
  16. Although we do not see many Grizzlies, we see lots of black bears. I have so many bear experiences! On our honeymoon a black bear was on the roof of our cabin so we were sort of scared to go out. The park rangers managed to see it and get it down (we had to wait for ages - no cell phones then!). That night two people who were tenting near us got KILLED...
  17. Oops - what I MEANT to say is that it is lovely, lush green and mild here. Year round! Funny about that flash-freezing thing. You are so witty! I just cannot keep up with you.
  18. We adore our quaint house. It is not big but perfect for the two of us. The kitchen is so tiny that it feels like cooking in a camper but we usually cook over the fire in our outdoor kitchen (there is also a small oven out there). Our garden is so pretty and filled with roses, lavender, rosemary, figs, acacia trees and we cannot see any other buildings...
  19. I think your lungs would go numb first before the shattering begins so it would not hurt as much. At that point your heart would stop beating first so you really wouldn't feel it and there would be no reason to be concerned. And our Spring lasts about 4 days so we will have to do some careful planning!
  20. Aw, shoot. I thought you might want to inhale the crisp clean air!
  21. As it is currently -51F with windchill, it is a great day for soup. Smoked Chipotle Black Bean Pureed Soup with Crispy Shallots Homemade gluten-free Buttermilk Biscuits with the Blood Orange Marmalade I just made Homemade gluten-free Cherry Tarts (I should say "tart" singular - I cannot allow myself to have more than one!)
  22. Very similar to yesterday - grilled aged provolone cheese sandwich (homemade bread) with a lick of blueberry ginger "jam" I made the other day and a touch of homemade Dijon mustard. Raw cukes and carrots.
  23. Now that is BRILLIANT! And you are spot on. I will have to tell my husband that - he deals with lawyers on a daily basis and will love it.
  24. If you can digest wild rice this is a delicious chowder recipe. Open Original Shared Link This is a delicious and extremely simple ginger rice recipe (you can use white, jasmine or basmati). Open Original Shared Link
  25. That is AWESOME! IH, is that closer to how you look? Anyway, it is so cold here that if we were to drool outside for some reason the drool would instantly freeze into icicles that we would have to break off our faces. Our eyelashes literally do freeze and it is weird blinking like that.
