FaithInScienceToo replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, again, Dancer :-) Reading more about you here, I want to add 2 things: You need to learn more about Gilbert's syndrome and all of the food-related problems - Here is the link I found about that: Open Original Shared Link Since it's genetic, has your immediate family been tested for that, also? --------------------------------------... -
ARCHIVED What Should I Ask To Get Done? 11-7-05
FaithInScienceToo replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Dancer ;-) I just read a bit about your "Gilbert's Syndrome" - wow...it affects 1 in 20! Anyway...the stomach issues associated with it are SO similar to celiac disease... About your stool tests - it's good that you are absorbing fats. WHAT ARE YOUR BLOOD PANEL results???? About Enterolab - you cannot ask your doc to order those tests for... -

ARCHIVED Oprah - Let's Get Cd On Her Show
FaithInScienceToo replied to floridanative's topic in Publications & Publicity
Just wanted to address a few points you made here: I don't think you have to worry about Oprah saying she won't eat wheat, unless she tests positive for gluten problems, in which case she can say that without worrying about the wheat producers sueing her :-) Anyway...I also don't think anyone replied saying that we should say that 'all grains are bad... -

ARCHIVED Let's Get On Oprah!
FaithInScienceToo replied to CeliacMe's topic in Publications & Publicity
LOL...the Oprah Show once wanted me to be on the show...for family issues...They called me after I e-mailed my personal story to them....but, I wouldn't agree to asking my Mom to be on to show...and I also thought it would kill my Dad to have his alcoholism history aired... Anyway... Perhaps one of her producers personally knows of celiac disease, or... -
Interesting question - I was diagnosed with 'a tarsal coalition' in both feet - confirmed via x-rays. This means that I was born without a joint between two tarsal bones, and the bones have since fused together, since I didn't get it diagnosed/treated in childhood. It is gentic (so I have had to tell my siblings to look for it in their kids, just like...

Hi Claire - Good to see more info for you...and for others, too. I also found out, 4 years or so ago, that I have osteopenia, so I also need to get more serious about how to help my gut absorb more calcium... Anway, I am hoping you are going to do the Enterolab gene test - I'll be checking in occassionally on you... and George... and the other members...

FaithInScienceToo replied to FaithInScienceToo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi, again, everyone - I got e-mails about this thread continuing - great to see new members adding on. Michael - thanks a ton for your well-thought out editions - I will consider all that you said. And, Julie - thanks, also, to you for your insight/thoughts and nice to get to know you- About the use of digestive enzymes potentially increasing... -
Dear Claire, I received an e-mail telling me that there was a reply to my casein antibodies post - it turned out to be your supportive post to me in which you also shared about learning of your test results, and about your writing this post after I had 'signed-off' on my last post. After reading it, I very much wanted to sign back on just to tag on...

ARCHIVED Casein Antibodies
FaithInScienceToo replied to FaithInScienceToo's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks, Claire! I have become overwhelmed with all of the new knowledge I need to 'digest' - pardon the pun - ...so, am going to sign-off for a while... I'll come back on next month to share what I learned about leaky gut syndrome, to let you guys know how my own attempts to try to heal mine is going, and to look for your thread about your bloodwork... -

Gina PS - I'll probably wait another 11 months before you see another ARGH! from me... not in my character...but, someone invited me to get it out, so... ;-) -
ARCHIVED Brand New Celiac
FaithInScienceToo replied to TheLibertarian's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome, Newbie! It took about 3 days before I started to feel better...within 2 weeks I knew I had my answer! I don't know how long it wil take for my leaky gut to heal, though... Going gluten-free wasn't enough to erase all digestive problems....although I feel like the spittin' image of health now compared to how I felt pre-gluten-free ... I... -

I am sorry to hear that your gut is not healed yet...and that your doc delivered the news in a poor manner - Have you begun to look into ALL possible sources of gluten contamination? Did you doc mention that it can take longer than 6 months to heal? Also...I have seen threads on here that discuss other possible causes of villi damage...did your... -

ARCHIVED Elevated Iga
FaithInScienceToo replied to lbsteenwyk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
JoAnn - I think you missed that I was talking about 'IgA' levels, not 'anti-gliadin IgA' levels - As you will see, the person who posted the question had normal anti-gliadin IgA (and IgG), but her first result that she listed is NOT an 'antigliadin' result... it is for 'an overall IgA' in the blood - that can mean IgA to many things... Does that... -
ARCHIVED I Give Up
FaithInScienceToo replied to Danijela's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi! OK...so, you have been told to get a new GP...I agree IF you call and insist that he give you a lab requisition for "A FULL Celiac Disease Blood Panel", and he says he won't - If he won't, before seeing a new doc, ask his/her receptionist if the doc orders those tests, if requested to by a patient, before wasting your time and money on a visit... -
ARCHIVED Elevated Iga
FaithInScienceToo replied to lbsteenwyk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Sorry to tag on again, but your post got me into reading about 'gammopathy' - abnormal IgA, IgG, and or IgM levels... It made me think to tell you that you may want to consider asking your doc to blood test you for your overall IgG and IgM levels, too...and to re-test your overall IgA at the same time (in case it went down to normal, as it can fluctuate...
