  1. I'm sorry, I guess I don't quite understand your answer. What do you mean he has two genes?
  2. We first had my daughter gene tested since she was already on a gluten free diet at the time and found out she was positive for DQ8. I just recently got my gene test through enterolab and found out I have two copies of DQ8. This means that I got it from both of my parents and that both of my girls should have at least one copy of the gene. My question is...
  3. I saw this mentioned in another post but couldn't find the post so I thought I would share. Talks about Glo-A3...very interesting and could lead to exciting advances in testing! Open Original Shared Link
  4. If you are in fact producing antibodies to gluten does anyone know how long it takes them to start going down? Are we talking hours, weeks, months. etc?? This may be a silly question, just wondering
  5. Had my appointment today and I'm glad I went back to this doctor instead of waiting another month to see the new one. I just saw the physician's assistant and she was very nice. She said that I was way more informed than most of their patients and they wanted to make sure I got everything I was wanting done, always nice to hear Had my celiac panel done...
  6. Found this interesting article about lymphocytes Open Original Shared Link
  7. I have that too where sometimes that's all that comes out. It's kinda gross!
  8. I guess dealing with my girl's digestive problems for the last 3 years has gotten me pretty loose about talking about this stuff I'm pretty sure mine is related to gluten since I didn't have it when I was gluten free and now I'm having it on my gluten loaded diet. It just kinda worried me when I googled it and everything that came up had to do with...
  9. Just wondering if having mucus in your stool is common for celiac disease? I've tried doing a search and everything mentions ulcerative colitis and chrohn's but I don't see any mention of celiac disease. I know it's gluten related because I didn't have it before doing this gluten challenge but, can gluten cause ulcerative colitis and chron's also? All my...
  10. Thanks for the encouragement I have definitely eaten enough gluten for everyone on this board! It is nice to be able to give in to my cravings but I would much rather feel healthy
  11. Thanks for your reply! If I didn't have kids and didn't plan on ever having kids then I wouldn't feel so strongly about getting a diagnosis. But I do have kids, who both have the same symptoms and I feel like it's important for them to know where it's coming from. Plus, I feel like I've come this far I might as well go through with the testing. Otherwise...
  12. Envirokids have some good snacks and also EnjoyLife has some individually wrapped cookies that are pretty good.
  13. My last GI visit went ok, they were really nice but the one thing that turned me off a little was that they wanted to scope me even though they knew I was gluten free. And, when I asked about genetic testing they said they couldn't do that there. Well, I did the genetic testing through enterolab and it came back positive for two copies of the DQ8 gene. I...
  14. Ok, so I was looking over my daughters results from her original test after I posted this. It has Gliadin IgG/IgA Ab Prof, EIA listed but then under that it has Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA and IgG listed with the results. I'm guessing maybe that is the DGP test and maybe it's just worded a little different? I think it's throwing me off because it doesn't...
  15. Yes, she has been eating plenty of gluten and it has been almost 3 months. Thanks for your reply! I'll call and ask her GI. He is very knowledgeable on celiac and I would be surprised that he would run the old test but that does look like what it is. I'm assuming they're not running the Total IgA Serum since they already did that and it showed that she was...
  16. My daughter gets her blood drawn in about a week and a half and on her labwork order sheet it says Gliadin IgG/IgA Ab Prof, EIA. Is this the same as the DGP test or is it something different? She's also getting Endomysial Antibody IGA and tTG IgA. This is her second time testing since she was gluten free the first time around and they did the full celiac...
  17. I hope the tests will be conclusive but I know that's not always the case I just got my genetic tests back and I have 2 copies of the DQ8 gene, just one more piece to my puzzle. My girl's GI is really good and very knowledgeable about celiac, he helped start the organization R.O.C.K. (raising our celiac kids), so I feel pretty comfortable with that. I just...
  18. I originally went gluten free for my daughter that I'm breastfeeding. She's had digestive problems from day one. My 3 year old also has digestive problems and we ended up going gluten free with her also. This was all before I was even aware of celiac disease. We first started suspecting celiac disease with our 3 year old, we had switched pediatricians because...
  19. Did he do any blood testing or just diagnose you due to dietary reaction?
  20. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this doctor?
  21. Just wondering who here was diagnosed after being gluten free and then undergoing a gluten challenge?
  22. How can you tell the difference?
  23. I would definitely consider getting both yourself and your son tested, just ask for a full celiac panel.
