  1. If you have a good healthfood store near by there really are some pretty decent dairy substitutes out there...they're just a little pricey. Sorry you have to wait another month but so glad you have found a good doctor!
  2. They didn't do a full celiac panel, you can have a negative on one test and a positive on another. Blood tests have a high rate of false negative and a endoscopic biopsy is what they use to diagnose anyways. If you have a positive biopsy than you have celiac.
  3. Yes, a gluten challenge should be 2-3 months and you should be consuming quite a bit of gluten during that time.
  4. I've wondered about this also. My daughter had a rash on her bottom that was really itchy and lasted for a few months and then went away but she has continued to itch at it even though the rash is gone. Can you do a biopsy if there is no rash, only itchy skin?
  5. I never really got a clear answer on that one so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping he took enough. I'm not that great with dealing with doctors
  6. I'm so sorry you have to wait, It'll be here before you know it! It went very smoothly for me, I don't even remember a thing and I was up and moving around within minutes after as if nothing had ever happened I hope you get the answers you're looking for!
  7. Thank you I'm so glad to have this all behind me! The next week will be challenging anticipating the results but I do feel that I already have my answer as far as how it affects me so I feel good no matter what the outcome is.
  8. I had my endoscopy today after undergoing a 3 month gluten challenge. My celiac panel was negative but doctor still wanted to do endoscopy to confirm negative blood work. He said that there was gastritis and apparently I have a hernia somewhere causing indigestion (I found that interesting since I don't experience indigestion when gluten free). He said that...
  9. I am just at the end of my 3 month gluten challenge, my endo is fri and I will be gluten free immediately after. My symptoms have been pretty consistent for the whole 3 months, probably not what you wanted to hear...sorry For me it's been constipation, occasional loose stools, gas, bloating, mucousy stools, stomach cramps, major brain fog, sleep problems...
  10. I'm not an expert but it looks like what they refer to as Marsh stage 1 which says "Marsh stage 1: increased number of intra-epithelial lymphocytes, usually exceeding 20 per 100 enterocytes". I'm pretty sure this is a positive biopsy result but hopefully someone with a little more knowledge will chime in....
  11. My girls seem to do ok with a little cheese or yogurt but they can't handle milk or ice cream at all! It may just be that your body can handle a little but not too much, maybe the ice cream and milk in one week was just too much.
  12. Thanks for posting this question Bis-quit, this gives me reassurance that I'm doing the right thing by having a endoscopy despite my negative blood work.
  13. Still going through the testing process but I definitely already know I have some form of gluten intolerance and my problem is mostly constipation. It seems like I'll be constipated for a week or so and then it's the cramping and having to rush to the potty, but not necessarily D just having to go all of a sudden. This is probably TMI but there's also times...
  14. You mentioned you had no villi damage so did they diagnose you due to your improvements with the diet or what?
  15. I have not had my endoscopy yet but I had negative bloodwork and have an endo scheduled for Fri.
  16. I used the term "celiac gene" because most will refer to these genes as such. It is said that around 95% of people with celiac disease possess one or both of these genes, that is not to say that everyone who possesses these genes has celiac disease or will ever develop it. And, that would suggest that 5% of people with celiac disease do not possess one or...
  17. Yes, it is still possible to have celiac without possessing one or both of the main celiac genes (DQ2 and DQ8).
  18. If you had a blood test done after being gluten free for 8 weeks your test will most likely be negative, you have to be eating a good amount of gluten for it to show up on a blood test.
  19. Well, I definitely know I have a problem with gluten. There's really no question there. The challenge has been pretty miserable but I'm extremely stubborn so I was able to stick it out No matter how everything comes out I will be 100% gluten free after my endoscopy next Friday and can't wait! It's really just more of a curiosity thing I guess, just wondering...
  20. Ok so I got my results back for my celiac panel after being on a gluten challenge for almost 3 months. It came back with everything in normal range but some of the numbers went up just a little. Would you suspect anything by that? They didn't go up much but I'm thinking that if I was on gluten long enough they would continue to go up, not that I'm willing...
  21. My Aunt was asking me about this for herself and I've never heard of it. Just wondering if anyone has had experiance with them and if they're legit? Open Original Shared Link
  22. Ok, it's all making sense now
  23. That makes total sense that he could have one of the other gluten sensitive genes. But it would mean that he doesn't have DQ2 or DQ8 right? Since she got the DQ8 from me and she doesn't have DQ2, or is it possible to have one copy of a gene and not pass it on to your children? It's really just more of a curiousity thing I know there are other genes but right...
