  1. I'm hoping that it is corn starch and not wheat flour, we will probably avoid these in the future
  2. Me and DD ran to the local dollar general to pick up a couple things and while we were there we picked up some punch balls (basically thick balloons with a rubber band attached. When we got home I went to blow them off and noticed they were coated in some kind of flour so I rinsed them off and blew them up. Now I'm wondering if maybe they were coated in wheat...
  3. I just realized that my daughter's gummy vitamins contain iodine Any recommendations for a hypoallergenic and iodine free children's vitamin (preferably gummy
  4. Both my girls had distended bellies that went away with a gluten free diet. My 3 year old will start to get a big belly and get constipated if she has even a speck of gluten. They are both extremely sensitive. We pretty much have a gluten free household, unless my hubby sneaks some in the house on occasion. We pretty much can't eat anything processed or we...
  5. We think that our 21 month old may have DH, we kind of go back and forth about having her tested. But, if we do decide to get her tested does anyone know of a good dermatologist in or around Atlanta GA who specializes in DH? Also, I know there can be false negatives but is it a high rate of false negatives? She is 100% gluten free except for a mix up here...
  6. Thanks so much for the replies! I'm so extremely careful about what she eats you would think I would have thought about having it injected into her skin It's like the allergist was so singled in on the fact that the skin test was negative she didn't even care that DD was scratching at her chest. And when I brought up that I thought her rash was probably...
  7. DD2 is most definitely gluten intolerant. She hasn't had any celiac testing but she responds dramatically to a gluten free diet and gets a rash that's most likely DH when she has gluten. Anyways, we took her to an allergist yesterday and they did a skin prick test (really wish I would have pushed for blood test instead) that tested for 10 different foods...
  8. Still haven't heard anything from food for life, stinks too cause I really liked their tortillas Yes, I washed the beans and soaked them and then rinsed them and cooked in fresh water. I'm going to try ordering some beans from nutsonline and see how that goes. It's only been a couple months since doing a 3 month gluten challenge so I think my body is still...
  9. Thanks for the replies. I'm pretty positive DD2's rash is DH. Last week we got some cross contamination and I got hives and a couple rashy bumps on my face and DD1 was itching her stomach and back and got a little bit of a rash on her bottom, but DD2's was the worst! She got this awful rash all over her but that she was clawing at and the other morning she...
  10. Thanks for all the replies! I did sort and rinse the beans but I was a little hesitant about trying them and probably should have stuck with my instincts. I haven't contacted the manufacturer yet but am going to. They were walmart's great value brand and say "naturally gluten free" on the package which I'm very skeptical of. I usually only add one new thing...
  11. Sorry to sound dumb here but, they can test for IgE mediated allergies through blood test? I was thinking that IgG were the only ones that were tested through blood test. I'm new to the idea of actual food allergies and trying to figure it all out!
  12. Ok, I'm not exactly sure the right way to ask my question. Me and my girls all get an itchy rash when we're accidentally glutened but it doesn't typically seem to last all that long. Is there a way to test for DH if there isn't an active lesion? Also, if we did get tested when there's an active rash would it be accurate since we're on a strict gluten free...
  13. So, I've been doing really good and pretty much just eating fresh unprocessed foods. Well, in wanting to add a little variety to my girls lunches I added two new things today and ended up with itchy hives, and both my girls ended up with itchy butts And now I'm starting to get the stomach stuff. So, I made some bean dip with the dried beans I cooked last...
  14. I eat the enjoy life chocolate with no problems. I like to mix a little of the chocolate chips with a little almond butter for a sweet snack
  15. I did receive an email back, thanks for your reply! I don't have a twitter account so you must be talking about someone else. I'm not sure what it was but me and my 2 girls had reactions to it. All of the ingredients seem to be things we don't normally have problems with so that's why I sent an email about possible cross contamination. I was also confused...
  16. I think I'm having a reaction to this. I emailed the company but have not heard back yet. Their label says it's made in a dairy, egg, soy, and nut free facility but does not say anything about gluten in their facilities. Just wondering.
  17. Ok, our 3 year old has been back on a gluten and dairy free diet for about a month now. We went through a 3 month gluten challenge and she tested negative for celiac but she has both DQ8 and DQ1 genes and a ton of celiac symptoms. We are super strict with only a couple certified gluten free processed foods, mainly wholefoods. Within just a week or so of being...
  18. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
  19. Up until now I have always mainly bought Bobs Red Mill flours because of their manufacturing practices. It seems though that if I eat too much (even just a sandwich) of something made from their flours I start having "gluten reactions". Just wondering what brands those of you that are super sensitive use? I would love to grind my own but I don't have a way...
  20. Thank you! I was just being very cautious since I've already reacted to a couple other brands of fruit spread and the companies have yet to email me back. I went ahead and tried this one today and so far so good, a few trips to the bathroom but that's probably just the fiber No gassy feeling which is usually a sure sign for me. Thanks so much for your quick...
  21. We went to Costco yesterday and I bought a huge jar of Kikland Organic Strawberry spread. I looked over the entire label and the ingredients look fine but there's nothing on the label that says gluten free, I thought all kirkland's gluten free products stated that they were. It doesn't have any allergy warnings or anything. Is it ok?
  22. Do you know of any literature out there that talks about DQ1 and gluten intolerance? I've been doing so many searches but can't seem to find much. My daughter has DQ8 and looks like DQ1 subtype 6. Thanks!
