  1. Our youngest has a little lump above her belly button. I asked her ped about it and she listened to it with the stethoscope and told me what it was but forgot the name. She said it's nothing to worry about but I keep a close eye on it. Yay for everyone trusting their mommy instincts! If I didn't trust my mommy instincts I would have two very sick girlies...
  2. I steer clear of TJ products. A lot of their stuff is made on shared equipment. More times than not that will get me so I steer clear.
  3. We eat lots of nuts and raisins for snacks. Fruit. Smoothies made with almond milk. Frozen bananas, vanilla, and a little honey in a food processor makes a nice "ice cream" like treat. I bake with almond flour and coconut flour...muffins, breakfast cookies, bread made into toast with earth balance and fruit spread. Try googling paleo snack recipes...paleo...
  4. I use Dr. Woods Shea Vision Lavender Castile soap and it smells good and is very gentle. I've also used Dr. Bronner's Lavender Castile soap and really like it too, this is actually what I use to make my foaming hand soap...lavender is naturally antibacterial and the castile soap doesn't dry your hands out like most will. And it smells good!
  5. The only product I use on my face daily is chapstick, I use Yes To Carrots and love it. On the very occasional occasion that I do wear makeup I use Neutrogena mineral sheers powder foundation and Maybelline Great Lash mascara, haven't noticed any problems. There's a lot of options online if you google gluten free makeup but it's quite pricey.
  6. I get mine from honeyville Open Original Shared Link and haven't seemed to have any obvious problems with it. It's very finely ground too so it works very well in baked goods. My inlaws helped me order 25lbs and that way it came out to be $4 and some change per pound, can't beat that! There's another site I just found who grows and processes their own...
  7. Thanks everyone! I definitely know my ulcer's are connected to gluten, just wasn't sure if this was more common with people who have DH. Thanks!
  8. I'm curious as to how your son is doing as well. Hope you are getting helpful answers!
  9. Gemini, you're are certainly welcome to disagree with me. Although you seem to have missed the part where I said that sensitivity varies widely and it takes time to figure out where you fall on the spectrum. I love coming on these forums and hearing everyone's varied point of views. When you disagree with someone though you don't have to be quite so condescending...
  10. I'm pretty sure me and at least one of my daughter's has DH, my other daughter gets a rash but it's a little different so not sure about her's? I get it on my jaw line, hair line, and back. I also get mouth ulcer's which are a pretty good sign of a decent exposure for me. I'm wondering if ulcer's are more common with people that have DH?
  11. Personally I would not do the challenge. There is a lot of research going on right now and you don't know what testing will be like in a few years. If they do have celiac and you give them gluten for a prolonged period of time (at least 3 months is needed for testing) then it puts them at an increased risk of developing other autoimmune disorders. And, it...
  12. My girls were both picky eaters before gluten free, they were also cured of their picky eating by the gluten free diet! I think once their little tummy's aren't hurting anymore they're much more open to food. My girls are 2 and 3 1/2 and they have AMAZING appetites and are pretty open to trying new things. They're new favorite thing to eat for lunch is salmon...
  13. You sound like you have a good plan. Testing at that age can be really unreliable anyways. Hope you figure out what's causing her symptoms and get her to feeling better soon!
  14. I'm so sorry you are going through this! It's been hard enough with two toddlers I can't even imagine how hard it must be with a teenager who is having to change the whole way he thinks about food. I think you have to approach teenagers with an understanding way and not a judgmental way. If they think you are just going to get mad they may not tell you...
  15. Our youngest has never had weight or height issues. She had severe reflux from day one. I would nurse her and within minutes after she would practically vomit all over me and her. Despite this though she always seemed to gain in weight and height. We didn't do any reflux meds because I feel like they're not good and they don't deal with whatever is causing...
  16. Fruit, eggs, smoothies made with almond milk, this really good grain free granola (my girls LOVE this!) Open Original Shared Link with almond milk, muffins made with almond flour, pancakes made with almond flour.
  17. I think you are safe to say your daughter has celiac. She has symptoms, genetic marker, and damage (wether it's a little damage or a lot of damage, it's still damage and that's what celiac is.). I'm glad you followed your instincts and found another doctor! Hope she starts feeling better soon!
  18. Did you have the celiac testing done before going gluten free? I agree with the corn issue. Me and my youngest both react to corn in the same way we react to gluten. You might consider taking that out. What about processed foods, does she eat a lot of those? The best thing for her, especially in the beginning, would be eating mainly whole unprocessed foods...
  19. Hailiesmom08 I have two girls who I suspect have celiac but we have no official diagnosis. By the time celiac was suggested to us they both had already been gluten free. We took our oldest to a GI first, despite being gluten free, because we didn't know what to do either. She was what we thought to be constipated before going gluten free (wouldn't go for...
  20. I would be cautious with the Pocono cream of buckwheat, me and my two girls have gluten reactions to it. I agree with what Tiffany says about purees not being necessary. We started solids (very slowly!) at 9-10 months and by that time I was able to just mash her food with a fork, she just ate what I was eating.
  21. Thank you so much! I will check these out
  22. Also, we didn't start solids until she was 9-10 months old. I didn't want to complicate things further and she was thriving well on my breastmilk. There's really no need for solids for the first 12 months if you're breastfeeding, you just have to go with what you're comfortable.
  23. Yes! It is totally common for someone of any age to be sensitive to more than one thing. I had similar issues with our youngest. She spit up (more like vomited) from day one and started having more severe issues at 2 months. I started by taking out dairy which helped some but not completely. I ended up doing a total elimination diet and was only eating a...
  24. Thanks for all your replies! It is getting better, I'm very strict about the gluten free diet...I don't eat any grains, very few processed foods (just applesauce, mayo, etc.), nothing that comes from a box except for maybe raisins , just mainly wholefoods. I'm very sensitive so even with this type of diet I still get into CC from time to time This recent...
  25. I'm pretty sure I have DH. All my life I've had what I thought was acne around my chin and sides of face, except it was always itchy...acne is not supposed to be itchy. I also always had really itchy bumps on my scalp and around my hair line that I would literally itch until they bled. All has mostly gone away since being gluten free, except the bumps on...
