  1. I bought a Sodastream maker and have made my own strawberry soda. Thanks everyone. No corn and it tastes great.
  2. I usually find that for me it's from a lack of potassium. If you are ok with orange juice, potatoes and bananas those should help. They always make my muscles feel better especially after being glutened.
  3. You've gotta be freakin kidding me? No wonder corn makes me so very ill! What is it with corn and this country?? It's in everything.
  4. That cake looks delish! I can't use xanthan gum though. It's corn based. Yes, I would love some ideas! Thanks
  5. Thanks for all of the good advice. There are things that I can make without olive oil and rice milk. My Mom was asking about what we were going to do about a cake. I offered to make a crustless pumpkin pie and she was asking me how I do that and I mentioned the rice milk. The olive oil I have to use to coat the bottom of the pan so the roast beef wont...
  6. It is really all about the food. It always has been and always will be. That and we live way out in the country and it takes 45 min. to get here. My Mom and sister are Martha Stewart/Paula Dean and I just can't eat that way. My Mom and I use to go shopping ALL the time and we would always go out to lunch. In the 2 years I have had celiac, we haven't been...
  7. I felt like I was glutened 24/7 even though I was not. It was corn. Corn syrup mainly. I actually feel worse with corn than I do with gluten. Maybe cut that out and see if you feel better! Just an idea.
  8. It's my Mom's Birthday this weekend so she and my Dad have been invited to my sisters house for a gluten fiesta. My sister always wins out because her and her husband have cute little kids. My husband and I don't have kids. Thanks celiac! I invited my Mom and Dad to come over tonight for dinner since they are going over there on her Birthday. I gave...
  9. I think mixing is a great idea b/c I think the brown has too much fibre for me. I had cramps all night. I never get it with the white rice. Thanks for the suggestion.
  10. Just wondering which you use more brown or white rice. I was using white but noticed the label had things added to it like vitamins and enrichment and that the brown was one ingredient and a whole grain so I switched to brown. It takes a long time to cook though. Does anyone have any brown rice recipes. Which is better for us as Celiacs brown or white...
  11. A lot of those things make me ill. A lot of those things make a non celiac ill. It's mostly "junk" food. I would just try yo cut back on some of that stuff. Maybe make homemade fries in the oven with olive oil and cut up potatoes. Buy some real 100% maple syrup. Just little things like that can make a difference. I hope you feel better soon.
  12. It's freezing here too. It's 25right now. I am going to make that soup tomorrow. Thanks for the idea.

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

    Thanks!!
  14. It was an All Clad Pre seasoned cast iron grill pan. I called to see what it was pre seasoned with. They told me soybean oil. I returned it. This is not the one that I bought but read where it says materials. Open Original Shared Link There was nothing on the box saying that the pan had soy in it. CRAZY!
  15. Do you have soy issues? I had something happen like that with an All Clad Emeril grill pan. It was treated with soybean oil. You might call and see if they treat with anything.

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

Crazy how corn is EVERYWHERE. I bought Heinz new HFCS free ketchup with real sugar. Too bad the vinegar is corn. No soda and now no ketchup..boy this is gonna be fun.
  17. The teflon pans should be ok if they are in good condition with no scratches. The theory is that gluten can hide in the scratches. I would use them if they are in good condition. Just run them through the dishwasher on sanitize or the pots and pans cycle.

    ARCHIVED Vinegar

Does vinegar make any other super sensitives sick? Ketchup really gets me. I think that the vinegar is from corn and I react to corn as badly as gluten. Pickles and mustard make me sick too.
  19. You react to things that don't usually make the average celiac sick. Some of us, myself included get really sick from anything processed and labeled gluten free. Your rash is probably related. I get something similar when glutened. It could be DH as well.
  20. Sylvia, you will love the shampoo and conditioner. It smells great. Walmart sells huge bottles and most of the time the Sunday paper has a coupon.
  21. My husband and I were out and I had to go to the bathroom really badly and the only place around was a Burger King. I ran in there to the bathroom and the bathroom actually smelled better than the restaurant. It truly is garbage...Expensive garbage.
  22. It's because people get addicted to all of the flavor enhancers, chemicals, fat and sugar in those processed foods. The companies who make those "foods" add stuff to them to get people to keep eating them.
  23. I use Garnier Fructis only. They are gluten free, easy to find, work well and inexpensive.
  24. Thanks ladies! I ordered the dairy free ones from Amazon. I can't wait to try them. Irish - I have read some of the posts, that is what pushed me to order them. They have been running commercials on TV too. I was glutened a few times in the past few months and now I am having gluten like reactions to corn so I have totally screwed my system up...
  25. Hamburgers in lettuce "buns" and homemade oven fries. Bing cherries for dessert.
