Well..now my gas is trapped and I have splotchy skin and joint pain. Guess I was glutened.....Thats it, I am not eating anywhere but home from now on. People have good intentions but they dont understand.

On Sunday, I ate at a friends house. She assured me that everything was gluten free. We had roast beef, green beans and carrots and ice cream for dessert. Seems safe enough! She made gravy with corn starch for the roast beef. I watched her do this so I know it wasn't flour. I felt fine on the way home but a little bloated. I blamed it on the ice cream...

ARCHIVED Major Meltdown Yesterday
GFreeMO replied to bonnie blue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been gluten free for over a year. I had something very similar happen to me on Saturday. My husband and I were grocery shopping and they were having a sample tasting event. People were walking around the store eating pizza and cookies etc. on little napkins. I was so mad. Not mad at them for eating it, although, I was a little freaked out about... -

ARCHIVED Christmas Cookies!
GFreeMO replied to GFreeMO's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They taste like soft sugar cookies. Not really cake like but soft. I have been craving sugar cookies. I can find just about any other packaged gluten free cookie but for some reason no sugar cookies. These are good. I agree, they have a great website. -
I'm so excited to be making gluten free Christmas cookies! Last Christmas, I didn't have one cookie to eat. The Betty Crocker gluten free website has several Christmas Cookie recipes. I made the sugar cookies today. They are so good! They also have Chocolate crinkles and cut out cookies and snickerdoodles! Yummy!

ARCHIVED Teff Flour?
GFreeMO replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It probably is. The same thing happened to me with flaxseed. I still eat it but it does bother my tummy. I wouldn't worry about it too much! I agree, corn tortillas are not very good unless they are heated. I would just stick them in the freezer and eat a different tortilla or Udi bread or something else for a while and go back to them later on. Good luck -
ARCHIVED Teff Flour?
GFreeMO replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Teff flour is perfectly safe for us celiacs. I have never had that brand of tortilla. CC could possibly be an issue. You could look on their website or call to find out the manufacturing practices. It may be produced on the same equipment as wheat etc. Can you have corn? I really like the Mission corn tortillas. They have dedicated equipment and are safe... -
I have been gluten free for over a year. I have had a few slip ups by CC and an intentional mess up (I dont have celiac...it's just IBS back in July with 3 doughnuts) I have no other food issues other than lactose intolerance. I eat dairy with lactaid tablets and lactaid milk. I eat a very strict gluten free diet and do not eat at restaurants. I continue...

Gluten free Bisquick makes a great pizza crust! The recipe is on the box. All you need is Italian seasoning (McCormick) 2 eggs, oil and water. We eat it every Saturday for lunch! Hormel has pepperoni and canadian bacon both marked gluten free. So yummy! -
ARCHIVED Glutened - But The Result- Constipation
GFreeMO replied to kim307's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That has happened to me several times. I usually get the d 3 or 4 days after if that happens. You could try drinking some warm apple juice or eating some canned fruit or raisins to get things moving along. Hope you feel better soon. -

I read a post a few days ago about Kroger cheese that contained vinegar. I just ate Borden Mexican 4 Cheese shreds and noticed vinegar on the label. Is it only malt vinegar that we have to watch out for and how will it be labeled? If vinegar is listed on a label, does it mean apple cider vinegar or white vinegar etc.? FYI, I contacted Borden Cheese...

Hiya! I was just wiping up my kitchen counter tops and just opened up a new bottle of soap. Dawn Hand Renewal with Olay dish soap. It's suppose to keep your hands from drying out while doing dishes. Is this gluten free? Also, anyone know about Olay Moisture Ribbons body washes? Thanks!

A friend from NJ told me about the WOW cookies. I'm in Missouri and have yet to find them anywhere! -
ARCHIVED Dairy
GFreeMO replied to Mama Melissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You might need to take 2 tablets. If I eat pizza or ice cream, I need 2. If I just eat something like a little chocolate, I just need to take one. Maybe the macaroni didn't agree with you, try something else. Maybe a grilled cheese on Udi bread or a little cream cheese on a glutino or something. Good luck!!!! -
ARCHIVED Dairy
GFreeMO replied to Mama Melissa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I eat dairy with lactaid tablets. If I don't have the lactaid, I get sick if I have the lactaid, no reaction at all. It's great stuff! Lactaid milk is good too. -
I have been craving cookies. Does anyone know of any really good store bought gluten free cookies. I tried the Enjoy Life snickerdoodles. I didn't like them at all. I usually make my own Gluten-Free cookies and they are really good but sometimes when I don't feel up to baking, i'd like to keep a box in the pantry.
