ARCHIVED Dh So Freaking Annoying
eatmeat4good replied to GFreeMO's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Wow is that ever a beautiful sentence...she is on the other side... It took 14 months. I was one who took longer than most and I could never figure out why. People would come on saying they stopped gluten and they were healed after a month or two. I could NOT figure it out. I thought I was totally gluten free so what else? I found an article that said... -
ARCHIVED The Gluten Toaster Oven Of Doom
eatmeat4good replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Great idea on vacuuming it! And I agree with scrubbing the crap out of it. I was in the same position not being able to afford a new toaster oven when we first went gluten free. I kept the toaster oven. Used foil. But I was so paranoid of gluten at that point...I just left the bottom alone and didn't touch it. You should have seen me putting food in... -
ARCHIVED Relapse Or Normal?
eatmeat4good replied to troykm's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Another thing I'd like to mention is that once the gluten is out of your system, many people seem to become more sensitive to the traces of gluten. It's as if your body is so relieved that you stopped bombarding it with massive amounts of gluten that it rewards you with great healing and symptom relief and then it wants you to pay attention to cross contamination... -
ARCHIVED Oh Yes I Remember Now
eatmeat4good replied to nanaginny's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, there are several threads on here with samples of what to eat. First of all, it is best to stick to whole foods like meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits and nuts. If your system is too bad, you might have trouble with digesting raw vegetables for a while but that should be temporary. What's for Breakfast? What's for Lunch? What's for Dinner? What... -
Oh gosh I'm so sorry you had that experience but I'm glad you lived to tell about it. It sounds awful. I hope your symptoms start calming down soon. And after 3 years without a glutening?! Oh how happy you will be when this episode is over. I hope you feel better really soon. I really don't like it when they put gluten free bread right next to gluteny bread...

ARCHIVED Exhausted <9 Hours Of Sleep
eatmeat4good replied to GfreeMe's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree with both of the answers above. I'm 2 years clean..well...almost..and sleep was a huge issue in the beginning. Since it has been 2 years be sure your vitamin levels are normal and be sure you aren't getting cross contamination. Other food intolerances can cause sleep disturbances/fatigue too. Salicylates, corn, dairy, nightshades, lectins, they... -
ARCHIVED Dh So Freaking Annoying
eatmeat4good replied to GFreeMO's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm so sorry you are having it on your face. I have a scarred chin and lip from DH. Strawberries and any berries are very high in salicylates. As Squirming says the canned goods are absolutely out if you have DH. I had to do low salicylate and low iodine for months. Now the salicylates don't bother me as much. Since my DH healed, I have had a few outbreaks... -
ARCHIVED Could Celiac Disease Be Causing My Other Health Issues?
eatmeat4good replied to dmcook1990's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten can cause all of what you are experiencing. At my sickest that was how every single day was.... Only being 100% gluten free will fix it. That means traces and cc need to be watched for and avoided carefully. You can get better, but your food is your lifeline...so be sure it is gluten free. Severe and profound depression and anxiety can... -
Here is the Yes/no for you. Symptom relief so far: Foggy brain almost gone- YES! Sleeping better- YES! More awake during the day- YES! Sinus are clear for the first time I can ever remember- YES! Post nasal drip is gone (this I have had since I was a child and it has never gone before)- YES! Gerd is gone! No reflex, no burping, no food coming...

ARCHIVED New And Full Of Questions
eatmeat4good replied to vegas's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi! Welcome! Congratualations on figuring out it was the imitation crab that "got" you! Yes, it is VERY common to have more violent and severe reactions once gluten is entirely out of your system and then re-introduced even at trace levels. I was absolutely shocked at the severity of my illness when I got glutened after going gluten free. How strict... -
ARCHIVED Problems With Ignoring The Condition
eatmeat4good replied to blythiee's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
What you are describing sounds like a neurological reaction of a Celiac person to gluten. Many of us get jittery, anxiety,ADHD, can't focus, brain fog symptoms when we ingest gluten. ADHD symptoms have been scientifically linked to gluten especially for Celiacs. I hope you choose to come back to your gluten free life. Many people feel the results... -
ARCHIVED Funny Gluten Pics
eatmeat4good replied to ker0pi's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
OMG!! That is hilarious! Thank you for the laugh! My guy said he feels like "Gluten Free" has become his new Religion... check this... check that... read this, read that, eat this, don't eat that... and PRAY that she doesn't get glutened! (he has seen the results of gluten) He will get a kick out of these pics... -
ARCHIVED I Got Officially Dx'd Today
eatmeat4good replied to squirmingitch's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hey Squirming! Congratulations on the diagnosis! And for figuring out yourself long before he did! It's so much easier to diagnose when someone has already done the work for you!! Hey, when your DH heals...you will need a new name!!! But for now...the lil comment about how he had Paleo information in his office piques my curiosity! I... -
ARCHIVED Please Take A Peek For Me?
eatmeat4good replied to nikaboli's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oh my God, I can't believe I missed this until now. Those are absolutely perfect pictures of DH!!! Including the white de-pigmented skin where lesions used to be. This is exactly what DH looks like. These pics should be in the Medical Textbooks. Please post them in the DH photo bank thread if you haven't already. Thank you for sharing your story and... -
ARCHIVED Misdiagnosed?
eatmeat4good replied to MysteryDiagnosis2012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This is dedicated to MysteryDiagnosis2012... ...just because she loves cupcakes... I say, "Let them eat cake! But let it be gluten free cake!" (best gluten free cake I ever ate in 2 years of being gluten free!) Chocolate Cake 2 C. Coconut Flour 1 C. Cocoa 1 and 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda 1 tsp Salt 1 C butter 1 and 3/4 C. Sugar (if you don't use... -
Welcome! What a nightmare...and yes, I read every word of it. I had to stop because it triggered my own PTSD about having seen 25 Dr.'s in 7 years and ending up staying in bed wanting to die instead of go through the humiliation of describing the symptoms of Celiac through Gluten Fog and Anxiety and Depression from having lived all of it. You got your...

ARCHIVED Misdiagnosed?
eatmeat4good replied to MysteryDiagnosis2012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah, it's not possible to stop seeing uncaring and ignorant Dr.'s...they will shrug their shoulders and say IBS to a million people before they wake up to the fact that Celiac exists and 90% of their patients probably have it! Soooo... Just go gluten free and get your life back. It's a miracle to watch yourself get well. I think you have done enough... -
ARCHIVED May Contain Wheat
eatmeat4good replied to Castle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm 2 years gluten free. Got sick from nuts contaminated...definitely gluten by my reaction. So when I grabbed the Spaghetti sauce that proudly says Gluten free on the front, and I turn it over and it says Made in a facility that also processes wheat...um...no thank you. I feel sorry that people believe that gluten free on the label means it IS gluten... -
ARCHIVED 62 Years Young - Could I Have Celiac Disease?
eatmeat4good replied to Michaelyn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
But remember the tests are not 100% so even if you do not test positive, you could have Celiac or Gluten Sensitivity. So if you are trying for the testing, yeah stay on gluten, but if you test negative give it a 3 month gluten free trial to see what if any of your symptoms clear up. People come on here all the time at your age and find out that they have... -
ARCHIVED Plastics Any Ideas
eatmeat4good replied to Razzle Dazzle Brazell's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Get a Britta or a PUR water filter for your tap. I've read that the PUR is better even than the really expensive water purifiers/filters!! and certainly better than bottled water! they sell refill cartridges and you don't have to haul water...and it isn't in contact with plastic. -
ARCHIVED More Confused Than Ever
eatmeat4good replied to bkjkc's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know about the blood test results...I think you need to know the range...from the lab. But I do know that it takes an endoscopy that goes through the mouth and stomach to test for Celiac disease. The colonoscopy can diagnose other things but not Celiac. Others who know more about testing will answer you soon I am sure. Welcome and good luck to both... -
ARCHIVED Kissing And Cross Contamination
eatmeat4good replied to PennyH's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If the issue is CC, then the description would have to be a bit more than just I don't eat gluten. Not eating gluten is a personal choice then and it wouldn't effect whether or not someone else eats gluten or brushes their teeth between eating and kissing. Being Celiac means that trace gluten is much more serious than just not eating gluteny foods just... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Interstitial Cystitis?
eatmeat4good replied to Peppa-minto's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You might be so happy gluten free that you won't need the test. One bite of your graduation cake might be all the diagnosis you need! Anyway, I think you are going to find that IC can be caused by gluten. I was diagnosed with IC in my 20's. I'm 49 and gluten free for 2 years. No episodes of IC at all in the last 2 years. Many posts on here in the history... -
ARCHIVED Kissing And Cross Contamination
eatmeat4good replied to PennyH's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Welcome! It's overwhelming at first to read and try to absorb all the intricacies of cross contamination and to know where traces of gluten can be found. But yes, kissing is a source of gluten. But the solution is simple. Brushing well. If you are dating it does take the spontaneity out of the first kiss. But I call it the Kiss of Death to kiss someone who... -
ARCHIVED Pain From Undigested Food?
eatmeat4good replied to Yumeji's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
IBS BS Eliminate gluten and see how you do. You could ask for a full Celiac Panel just to check you blood before you go gluten free. Another food intolerance that would be consistent with those foods is salicylate sensitivity. But you will have to do an elimination diet to find out. Google salicylate sensitivity to see if you have other symptoms. Or...
