  1. This is copied from the body of the article in the following link. I guess that is where I saw the antibodies can stay in the skin for up to 10 years. If it wasn't Dr. Green, I had to find who said it for ya!! It is near the end of the article. Neither IgA deposition nor circulating antibodies correlate with gluten intake in short-duration studies; however...
  2. I healed a little by being gluten free, but the rash and sores stayed there until I got serious about limiting iodine. Thyca.com was the only way I could do it. I had no idea that canned goods had iodine in the lining until I went there. It helped me so much. If iodine is a problem for you, you will be able to tolerate it later, but only after the sores heal...
  3. Cheetos made my DH go absolutely crazy. I was reacting to salicylates. They contain annatto, yellow food coloring which you cannot have if you are sensitive to salicylates. The other food preservative that made DH go crazy was benzoates which are in most soda's and processed drinks. People who react to salicylates cannot tolerate benzoates usually. Both...
  4. I had cystic acne on my face. It never cleared with antibiotics. It scarred. Years and years later I got typical DH lesions that looked more like blisters and weeped. Both cleared on going gluten free after I found out about Celiac here. I now think it was just two different kinds of lesions but both DH. Now I have no breakouts unless I get gluten...
  5. Ooohh this sounds so good. I'm making it with ground beef instead of pork. And no sugar. but OMG yum! Thank you!
  6. Your symptoms are a very common tale. Your description of symptoms, illness, and reactions is very much like what I went through for 8 years. However, you are a little smarter than I am. You figured it out in less than 3 months. Yes, it can come on fast. And it can stay around forever if you don't figure it out. I guess that is why I was a nervous...
  7. Hi y'all! Talkin' bout me? Yeah, I love chicken livers! I can't wait to fry them with cornstarch like I heard about in another thread! Crispier I hear! I love beef liver too! Hmmm that pate' and fois gras thing is a bit over my head... but I bet I'd like em if they got liver in em! haha
  8. I never saw the 3 Stooges do that! I thought my son made it up! Maybe he saw that episode. The funniest part is we indulged him and put the spray can of whipped cream on the table right along with the ketchup, mustard and pickle relish! You should have seen the lil 7 year old spraying whipped cream straight down the length of the hot dog while the...
  9. That was my first mistake too! A friend and I went out to "celebrate" my new gluten free diet! We decided on a chinese buffet! It was yummy! And I was sick for a whole week! And then I read that Soy sauce is actually "wheat sauce" or "gluten-juice. Ugh...oh my god...I feel your pain. I very quickly started googling everything before I put it in...
  10. I gotta tell my son, he won! He will be so pleased. I offered to buy him a can of whipped cream the last time we got hot dogs...he says it isn't the same now that he is gluten free! Maybe it was a Celiac symptom after all? But still...it's always nice to win...so I'm telling him you said he wins! Thank you for the laugh!
  11. Does anyone bake with wheat flour in your home? It hangs in the air and is easily by breathing and swallowing.... It only takes trace gluten to keep you feeling totally lousy...so I'd re-visit cross contamination if you live with gluten eaters. They eat a sandwhich and grab the remote...you grab the remote and then eat your sandwich.... And if they grab...
  12. I ate Ketchup Sanwiches too!! Wonder bread and ketchup...wow...memories! I hate Ketchup now. My Dad ate Onion and Mayonnaise sandwiches and called then wedding sandwiches probably because they were white. I used to love love love Date Pinwheel cookies. But now that I can't have gluten, I make slices of toast and use Real Butter, and then slice...
  13. Welcome! I'm so happy for you and your children that you have gotten some relief. I too, spent years in bed with migraines and a multitude of other symptoms. Weakness, nausea, (for which I nibbled soda crackers! my God!) and I thought I was going to die. Never got a Dr. to think symptoms were serious. I came here almost 2 years ago and realized that I have...
  14. Charlie! I am really touched by what you wrote. For several reasons. First, I was gonna say you were gorgeous the first time I wrote, but I chickened out. But now that I know you don't hear it all the time, I don't mind saying it...because it is true! You are Gorgeous! Even more so now that you shared your story about your marriage/divorce. Celiac ruined...
  15. I hope it will help you as much as it helped us. Good luck to you! I hope you will post back on how you do!
  16. I had the livedo reticularis all over my whole body too. Ravenwood helped me when I first came here so I would know that it "could" be caused by gluten. Of course there are other causes too. I was very concerned about this symptom. It took several months to go away, but it DID completely go away. Could NOT get a Dr. to be concerned about it at all. Ravenwood...
  17. I did about 4 strict months on Paleo/Primal where all you eat is meat, veggies, fruit, nuts, eggs and some dairy. Around my birthday I started cheating and eating icecream with gluten free brownies to "celebrate". Then I started adding some gluten free bread. It's been about a month of "experimenting" with gluten free products and I can honestly say I feel...
  18. Nice job Charlie! You look great! I transformed from a fat Celiac Chick to a normal/thin looking person too! Amazing what dropping gluten can do! I love having muscle and being able to use my body. I eat more now than I ever did when I was fat. Your work has really paid off! Congratulations! On getting your body back and meeting a Celiac Chick...
  19. I think you are on to something with your list of symptoms. Don't be surprised if your family doesn't get tested even if you get diagnosed with it. Seems pretty common around here. My family is the same. And even though I am diagnosed the Dr. doesn't want to test my son. It makes no sense at all. So we saw another Dr. and they said what symptoms does he...
  20. I think B 12 is easily checked in a blood test. That would be a very reasonable thing to ask your Dr. for. Many people get shots for it, so I think it is pretty common even if you are not Celiac. Just be straight forward and say you have a lot of the symptoms and could you have a blood test. If the Dr. doesn't agree with a reasonable request like that...
  21. Make some bacon and scoop up your ice cream with it. Make bacon crumbles and sprinkle it on your own ice cream. As for me....I'm doing what Love2travel just inspired me to do... I'm dipping crispy bacon in melted Dove chocolate...and letting it set. I also dip potato chips...in ice cream or chocolate yum! I wouldn't eat the sundae from McDonald's but...
  22. Just going to think here about the ways you can get glutened in a gluten-eating household. Gluten-eater makes a sandwich and goes to watch TV. You wash your hands and dry them on a towel a gluten eater just picked up or used. (glutened) You open the refidgerator to make your gluten free sandwich after the gluten eater put their sandwich bread on a plate...
  23. That is a very interesting page of DH descriptions. I wish I had happened upon that long ago. I would have been diagnosed sooner. And by a Dr. from 1916 no less. Amazing! Thank you for sharing that.
  24. Well that is a relief! Thank you for letting me know you aren't depressed! I agree that some of the most interesting and intelligent people consider suicide at least once a year! If you try the Dapsone....let us know how you do. That might be another way to get diagnosed. If it stops the pain and itch...that is....then it must be DH right??
  25. I lived like that for most of the last 8 years. Then I came here and found out I have Celiac. I was unable to get out of bed or off the couch. Dr.'s said "fibromyalgia" "migraine" but it was really My Grain Headaches. Don't feel desperate. You are already feeling better. You might have figured it out for yourself. Nevermind what the Dr.'s say. Bunch...
