  1. You didn't say what kind of foods you are eating. You probably need more protien and fats. Plain meats and nuts provide a good source of protien and fats. You don't need to eat as much of these to feel full and they digest slowly so you won't feel as hungry as often. If you are eating mostly plants you are eating mostly carbohydrates. While fruits and vegetables...
  2. Another weight gainer here. Lots of bloating too.
  3. I started weight training about 4 weeks ago and I have noticed a HUGE difference. I have gained weight but lost fat. I still do aerobic exercises like walking and bike riding a lot but that alone wasn't getting my body where I wanted it. You need to do the anaerobic exercises like weight training also. My body is starting to reshape in the way I want it to...
  4. I do not have an official diagnosis and when I first went gluten-free I did not know that tests even existed. My health did such a drastic turnaround that it became very obvious what the problem was. It took 3 months to really start feeling better but I did see some changes right away. It was a good year before I really felt healthy. The only cure for this...
  5. This guy is simply too immature for you or anyone else for that matter. A real Martian would be man enough to say this just isn't going to work anymore instead of playing games. Game playing is a sign of immaturity. Even Venutians are guilty of that and when that happens to me the Venutian can't be a part of my life anymore. It is difficult sometimes but...
  6. For a long term problem it depends. Are you only focusing on one or two things or are you constanly expanding your knowledge of the problem and searching for new solutions. If you just stay fixated on a few aspects then no I don't want to hear about it. But if you are finding new aspects to a problem and searching for new solutions then yes I want to hear...
  7. "Dangerous Grains" is a good one. After reading that I had absolutely no desire to ever eat a donut ever again.
  8. Some people just can't accept the fact that food can do so much harm to some people. I have reached the point if people don't want to accept it then TOO DAMN BAD! That is their problem NOT MINE! I will do what I have to do to get and stay healthy. We believe you because we've been there and done that. You're going to have to grow some thicker skin but...
  9. Sabrina, my son was born in 1995 and that was when my celiac began to rage out of control. It was so hard to deal with the fatigue and brain fog and the added stress of a newborn. I barely remember the first seven years of his life. It will get better, it just takes time.
  10. Last week I met a woman who has a 7 year old son with autism. His autism was really bad. He would pound his head on the wall, cut, scratch himself bloody, etc. and was completely unable to communicate. She put him on a gluten, dairy and fructose free diet and within two days the violent behavior stopped. He is now able to function and communicate at about...
  11. To a Martian if you did something to solve the problem it is over and done with. There is no point in talking about again because you are just wasting time and energy that could be used to deal with the next problem.
  12. No it is not a death sentence at all. It is the beginning of a new and MUCH healthier lifestyle. I was sick for 36 years and when I finally found out what was wrong I eagerly embraced my new lifestyle. I have energy and mental clarity that I never thought possible. There are plenty of things out there to eat. I have discovered so many new things that I would...
  13. Yes it could be worse. All we have to do is not eat gluten and we can enjoy good health. I am more than happy to give up pizza so that I can finally feel alive. It is not a hard sacrifice to make. Eat pizza=feel like crap or Don't eat pizza=feel alive.
  14. Everyone cheat? I don't think so. I read Against the Grain and couldn't believe the crap that was in there. Very poorly researched but well written. Celiac.com is the only safe place for information because we've been there and suffered through it. I don't know what Lowell was thinking. I don't think she ever really had to suffer the fatigue, brain fog and...
  15. Cheating is not an option. I was sick for 36 years, why in the hell would I want to intentionally waste even one minute more?
  16. Gluten is Satan. Well that explains a lot doesn't it.
  17. All of the dozens of doctors I went to only know how to write prescriptions. If a pill does not exist to fix a problem then the problem does not exist. The medical profesion is no longer about making people healthy. It is only about keeping them coming back for more office visits and more pills. There are a few doctors out there that know abour celiac but...
  18. This thread needs a Martian viewpoint for balance. The reason that Martians get bent out of shape and tell Venutians to shut up is not because they like to talk about problems but they talk TOO much about them and take no action. What I have notice about the Venutian species is they will talk constantly about a problem because it makes them feel better. At...
  19. Plain buckwheat is gluten free. Because buckwheat flour has no gluten it won't stick together like wheat flour. Buckwheat pancakes for instance have wheat flour added so it stays together. Anything other than plain buckwheat should be scrutinized carefully.
  20. Yesterday at the grocery store I saw someone with a cart loaded with nothing but wheat based food. I thought to myself "Wow, I'd be dead before I hit the ground if I ate that."
  21. No more fatigue and a clear head are NOT fantasies. They will become reality when you go gluten-free. As for the flat stomach I'll get back with you on that one. Mine is flatter than it used to be. I am working on a six-pack but so far I'm looks more like a 1.6 pack . Looks like I have my work cut out for me on that one still.
  22. It is better to find out now than after 14 years of marriage and one child later. I found out the hard way that you don't want to be involved with someone who thinks that "for better or worse" means that I had to fix her problems but I had damn well better not have any of my own. Right now I would recommend that you focus on getting your health back on track...
  23. I suffered from extreme fatigue and brain fog but I was not anemic.
  24. I won't eat at banquet halls with a large group of people. There is just no way the food can be prepared without the risk of cross contamination because of the sheer volume and limited time. I have only had a few problems with restaurants. I have to eat out because I travel for work frequently. I am not going to hide at home because of a fear of getting glutened...
  25. I ate very little fruit when I was a child because it would bother my stomach. It turned out that I can't tolerate fructose very well. If a child won't eat fruit that is probably why. The only fruits I can eat now are mostly berries because they are relatively low in fructose. Tree fruits are very high in fructose and I can't eat those at all.
