    ARCHIVED Anger Rage

Oh yeah. When I was on gluten I was a very unpleasant and volatile person.
  2. I've had some problems with the supposedly gluten free Chex cereals myself and don't eat them anymore.
  3. I have always had good luck with Kroger brand food.
  4. I know the feeling. It's a miracle I never killed anyone while driving back when I was eating gluten.
  5. Worked great for me and is how I discovered I have celiac.
  6. Fortunately I seem to be immune to poison ivy but for my brother all you have to do is say the words and he breaks out really bad. Funny how the immune system works.
  7. Lycopene, she did you a favor. The wife leaving me turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me.
  8. Every brand of lentils I have ever bought has had wheat grains in them. I make sure to check them thoroughly and have never had a problem with lentils.

    ARCHIVED Should I Even Bother?

I went through a zillion doctors before I figured out was wrong with no help from them. My current doctor says that I know far more about Celiac than she does. She says that if certain foods make me sick don't eat them. If your diet works for you then stick with it.
  10. Cool! I just renewed my passport so Down Under here I come!
  11. Standing with the Man on the Silver Mountain

  12. Go out to dinner to a place that serves food that is naturally gluten free. Talk about the celiac but leave out the gross details. It will give you something to talk about and chicks dig that kind of thing as long as it doesn't get gross.
  13. I used to be morbidly obese and am now half the man, literally, that I used to be. Gluten free and low carb works for me but you mileage may vary. It can be done.
  14. A little paranoia in the beginning helps to keep you out of trouble. Once you get some knowledge and experience with the gluten-free lifestyle you will find it is not all that difficult.
  15. As bad as my brain fog was I would have to say that when we quit eating gluten our IQ does indeed rise exponentially.
  16. You will find that celiac is really a blessing in disguise because it forces you to make changes you would have not otherwise done.
  17. It took me two years to get on track after 36 years of not being on track with anything at all. All you can do is get plenty of rest and only do what absolutely needs to be done. The rest can wait.
  18. It's funny, when you get sick you find out real quick who your friends are and it is always the ones you least expect. Some people just suck I guess. Maybe for some people having someone close to them getting sick reminds them of their own mortality and shortcomings. Oh well, what does not kill you makes you stronger.
  19. Reverse the genders and that is the story of my former marriage.
  20. That is what would happen to me when I would get very severe gluten induced brain fog. I haven't had any brain fog out-of-body experiences since quitting gluten. Some of the brain fog episodes were truly terrifying, especially while driving. It is a miracle that I didn't kill anybody.
  21. Spam is absolutely disgusting when you examine it's contents but it is still the food of the Gods. Spam and gluten free beer are proof that God exists and that he wants us to be happy.
  22. Buckwheat is not a grain and has a low glycemic index. Buckwheat refers to plants in two genera of the dicot family Polygonaceae: the Eurasian genus Fagopyrum, and the North American genus Eriogonum. The crop plant, common buckwheat, is Fagopyrum esculentum. Tartary buckwheat (F. tataricum Gaertn.) or "bitter buckwheat" is also used as a crop, but it is...
  23. No complaints from the women in my life since I went gluten free. Sorry can't offer any more details than that on a family type forum.
  24. The only adverse effects I saw were having to buy new clothes from losing 170lbs and I really hate shopping. I was an overweight celiac.
