  1. Good for you. I did 30 miles yesterday and 25 today. The weather was absolutely perfect. 80 degrees and low humidity. Makes up for the six inches of rain last week.

    ARCHIVED Tgi Friday's?

I stick with the obviously gluten free stuff and have not had any problems.
  3. My energy levels went through the roof when I went gluten-free. There were times when it would take everything I had just to go from the bedroom to the bathroom. People who used to get irate waiting for me to catch up are now begging for mercy. I started a new job in February that pushes me to the limit everyday and I still have enough left to do things with...

    ARCHIVED Fiance

He sounds a lot like my ex-wife. she didn't understand it and didn't want to either. However my girlfriend has never had any issues with it and it has never been a problem for us. If he doesn't come around, dump him. Plenty more where that one came from.
  5. I think your body is telling what an idiot doctor can't or won't. I don't have a formal diagnosis and don't need one. There is no way in hell I will ever eat gluten again so why bother with the test. Even with a diagnosis all you can do is go gluten free.
  6. If you are excercising frequently you will reach a point where you will lose fat but gain weight. I gained about 15 pounds in muscle mass even though my waist line got smaller.
  7. Another Ann Arborite. It took a couple of weeks to feel better but a good two years to get to the point where I felt completely healthy. It takes time.
  8. Good old brain fog. I almost lost everything because of it. I turn into a useless zombie when glutened.
  9. It took me a good two years before I could say I was healthy. It was not always a smooth ride during those two years. You have to be extremely vigilant about the diet and give it more time. You did not get sick overnight and you will not heal overnight.
  10. They are still around. They released Marbles in 2004 and it is one of their best ones.
  11. Evergrey - Monday Morning Apocalypse Evergrey - A Night to Remember Marillion - Anaraknophobia Marillion - Marbles On 6/6/6 those will be replaced by the new Halloween celiac disease. Got my copy ordered and the neighbors won't be happy about it. I will have it cranked to 11.
  12. I bought New Grist at Whole Foods and it was better than I was expecting. It is a very light, pale ale and more carbonation than gluten beer. Now if they can make a gluten free brown ale, bock and stout I will be very happy.
  13. I am another weight gaining celiac. Lost it when I went gluten-free. I really don't think I would have made it to 40 and I am 38.
  14. I have found that people get it completely and are really great about it or they are complete dumb@$$e$ about it. Celiac does require tough skin sometimes.
  15. My symptoms would come and go. In my 20's the symptoms started lasting for longer periods of time. In my 30's they returned with a vengeance and never left until I went gluten-free.

    ARCHIVED Brain Fog

Not exactly. I was days away from losing my job because I was incapable of doing anything. I was such a basket case that I would not have even been able to do the most menial of tasks. I lost my marriage but that turned out to be a good thing.

    ARCHIVED Brain Fog

It is like an out of body experience. I can see and hear everything going on around me but am completely unable to connect with reality. The words are in my head but nothing or something completely inapropriate comes out. I try to make my body do something but it won't move or does something very different than what I intended. Have not experienced this in...
  18. Citrus fruits don't agree with me either but not as bad as apples.
  19. I have not had any problems with either one.
  20. I can't eat apples in any form. Juiced, cooked, peeled it doesn't matter the end result is always the same and it ain't pretty.
  21. Members of the opposite sex are like buses, every fifteen minutes another one comes along. If someone can't deal with your celiac then dump them and trade them in for a new one. My ex-wife just didn't get it at all and that is why she is now my ex. My girlfriend gets it completely and it is just not an issue.
  22. I can not tolerate apples at all. They are almost as bad as gluten for me. It doesn't make any difference where they come from. I have an apple tree in my back yard so there is no pesticides or wax and they blow through me just as fast as i eat them.
  23. It took me about two years to really get over the fatigue. There was a time when it took everything I had to just get from the bedroom to the bathroom. You need to give it some more time.
  24. Listen to your body. I don't have a formal diagnosis but the way my life has changed for the better since I stopped eating gluten is diagnosis enough. Doctors are really clueless about celiac so they are of little help or value.
  25. I just stick with the basics: fruit, veggies, meat, nuts, yogurt and cheese. I also like buckwheat a lot. I don't buy any of the processed gluten free junk. Surprisingly I spend a lot less on food than I used to.
