ARCHIVED Went To The Gastroenterologist And Now Im Confused And Embarrassed
ianm replied to jodikris's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was another of the super-heavyweight celiacs. I went to dozens of doctors and they didn't know a damn thing about nutrition related issues. -
Starchy foods like rice and spuds can cause me to bloat up so I don't eat them very often.

ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
ianm replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
We remember all to clearly those days and that is why we don't support any lawsuits. This lawsuit is going to send us back to those days. -
ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
ianm replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
The only thing McD's is guilty of is poor communication. They were trying to comply with the new food labeling laws and went about it all wrong. I don't think Ronald McDonald intentionally tried to hide the contents of his so-called food. Because of the new labeling laws they found that there were ingredients that no longer comply with the new laws. This... -
You may just need to give it more time. It has been two years for me and it has only been over the last three months that my health has remained on an even keel. There were plenty of ups and downs after I went completely gluten-free. You didn't get sick overnight and won't get better overnight either.

I had it when I was 3 or 4.

ARCHIVED celiac disease Is Big Time News!
ianm replied to ms-sillyak-screwed's topic in Publications & Publicity
A lawsuit over this is NOT the kind of publicity we need. McD's did a lousy job of handling the situation and we should be looking for ways to help them get this straightened out. Nailing them to the wall for this is just going to create a backlash against us. FYI I have not eaten at a McD's in probably 10 years. Their food is crap gluten or no gluten. -
I have been in your husbands shoes. I have no doubt that some of my ex-wifes idiot friends talked her into filing for divorce. They all, except for one, hated me right from the start. I had no desire to get divorced but my ex-wife demanded it. It is really disturbing how wedding vows only apply during the good times. The only exception is the one friend of...

ARCHIVED New To Disease - Would Love Suggestions Or Advice
ianm replied to momandgirls's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have to agree with the Dr. on this issue. One of the reasons I refuse to get an official diagnosis is because of health insurance. The only thing you can do for celiac is change your diet. I had such a positive response to the dietary change that an official diagnosis would just mess my life up and I really don't need that right now. -
That says it all right there. You can explain it to some people until you are blue in the face and they still won't get it. The only thing you can do is get healthy and move forward while the dumb@sses stay in one place or regress.

Severe brain fog, fatigue and obesity. The way those things were destroying my life did lead to a period of depression. Overall it has been a two year process to become completely healthy. The worst symptoms cleared up within a few weeks but better for me would have been still really bad for anyone else. It takes time, no two ways around it.

ARCHIVED Born And Raised... First Post....
ianm replied to celiacuser12345's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I keep it simple. Fuits, vegetables and meat. The only dairy I eat is yogurt and cheese. No processed foods at all. the only sugar I eat is ice cream and dark chocolate once in a while. You've obviously been waving the celiac flag longer than I have. -
ARCHIVED Newb Question, Plz No Flaming :)
ianm replied to awesomeame's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nope, you have been forever branded with a scarlet "A" for Altoids. -
36 years of brain fog and I almost didn't survive it. I barely made it through school, got put into special ed, etc. To keep it at bay I am fanatical about the diet and exercise a lot and get plenty of rest. Any gluten free vitamin seems to work for me. I also take New Vision liquid minerals, about an ounce every three days.

This is happening to you for a reason. I couldn't see it when it was happening to me then but I can see it clearly now. It is to prepare you for bigger and better things to come but you mind and body have to be ready for them.

ARCHIVED Born And Raised... First Post....
ianm replied to celiacuser12345's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You have the right attitude. Celiac was the best thing that ever happened to me. I was very obese and my life was a disaster. In two years my life has changed completely for the better. The old me is dead and I don't miss him at all. I wave my celiac flag high and proud. -
ARCHIVED Are We Never Going To Be 'normal' Again?
ianm replied to danikali's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The gluten free diet is only one very small piece of the puzzle. You have to change your attitude, habits and engage in self discipline. This disease forced me to change everything about my life. If you knew me two years ago you would not recognize me at all. I am not the man I used to be in any way shape or form. Well I kept the warped sense of humor. -
ARCHIVED Hops In My Body Cream?
ianm replied to ebrbetty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hops is a vine and the flowers are used to give beer it's flavor. -
Best of luck and I hope this is what is really at the root of the problem.

ARCHIVED Dx Zero, Life 100
ianm replied to RCorbin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I never even knew there were any tests available for celiac or gluten sensitivity until after I gave the crap up. The change in my health and life in general was so dramatic that there was no question as to what the problem was. -

Keeping food simple and real is the only way to go. Anymore if I eat something processed I just don't feel good afterwards. -
ARCHIVED Testing/ Son Is Going In For Biopsy & Blood Testing
ianm replied to skurtz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Skurtz you are way out of line here. This forum is a place where people with celiac can come and share their knowledge and experiences with this disease. You have asked many questions and have been given good and sound advice from people who have had far more experience with celiac than you. If you don't like the answers you are getting then why are you wasting... -
ARCHIVED Are You Dreaming More Since Being gluten-free?
ianm replied to chestnut's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I hardly dream at all anymore and I take melatonin from time to time. I used to dream most every night and usually very vivid and horrific nightmares. -
ARCHIVED Testing/ Son Is Going In For Biopsy & Blood Testing
ianm replied to skurtz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Skurtz you are going to find that the majority of doctors out there know little or nothing at all about celiac. I went to dozens of doctors and not one of them ever mentioned celiac or even entertained the thought of a dietary problem. All those so called professionals wanted to do was write me a prescription or twenty. You will find that the majority of...
