Over the past two years I have forced a lot of people like that out of my life and it was the best thing I have ever done. It was not easy but it is worth doing. There a lot less people in my life but the ones remaining are of a much higher quality.

Pre-gluten free I had a lot of sleep problems but that is rare now.

ARCHIVED Doc Called Enterolab "quackery"
ianm replied to Jocelyn357's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am another former celiac induced heavyweight and your doctor is the quack. I lost the weight when I went gluten free. It seems that a lot of doctors are going to do everything they can to discredit celiac. The reason is that they can't write prescriptions for it and they don't make money if they don't push pills. Dump the stupid quack and go gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Always Waiting For This To Kill Me!
ianm replied to alanalynch's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was so sick that i have no doubt that I would have been dead by 40 and I am 38. Now that I am healthy I live each day as fully as I possibly can. I don't have time to dwell on how many days i have left. There is just too much to do right now that I could not do when i was sick and I am not about to waste time worrying. -

ARCHIVED What Makes You Happiest About Being Gluten-free?
ianm replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am healthier at 38 than I was at 18. I am no longer obese and finally know what it is like to feel alive. A little over 2 years ago I almost lost my job because of the brain fog. Now I have an extremely demanding but very high paying job and have been running circles around everyone. I am no longer the man I used to be in any way, shape or form and that... -
ARCHIVED Important Personal Questions About Celiac's
ianm replied to Mabiac's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am a white guy of Northern European descent and was obese but not anymore. I was 36 when I figured it out for myself what was wrong. It is so obvious to me what the problem was and none of the doctors I ever went to had any clue as to what was wrong. I am healthier now at 38 than I ever was at 18. If cutting out the gluten works then go gluten free, you... -
ARCHIVED How Do I Handle The Question "oh, I'd Die If I Couldn't Eat ____________."
ianm replied to steveindenver's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I tell the idiot "You might die if you can't eat that crap but I WILL die if I eat it. Remember how fat and out of it I used to be? Well no more. I now have a six-figure income and six pack abs. If I eat gluten I will lose everything. I came close to losing everything once because of gluten and I will NEVER allow that to happen again. Now will you please... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good At All?
ianm replied to Carolita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am healthier at 38 than I was at 18. Overall it took about two years to get to where I am at now. It takes time but it will get so much better. -
Your employer already asked the question so just answer it truthfully. They are obviously aware of the fact that some people have food issues or they would not have asked. To me it is a good sign if they are asking about it. Some people at my old job were kind of wierd about it because I worked with some real idiots. At my new job everyone knows and they...

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
ianm replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Severe brain fog, I go into an almost zombie-like state when glutened. Severe fatigue, I used to sleep 12-18 hours a day and it still wasn't enough. Weight gain, used to be obese. Bloating. Not a lot of real severe gut issues though. -
ARCHIVED I'm A Celiac For Attention
ianm replied to IntensePort's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
My ex-wife just didn't and still doesn't get it at all and that is why she is an ex. I had a strained relationship with my family for many years because I was an obese, brain fogged loser. They are quite amazed at how I have transformed over the last two years and are very supportive. I think they actually feel quite bad about that time but not much anyone... -

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
ianm replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Radman I do hope you stick around because we need doctors like you to understand what this disease does to a person. Since your symptoms are mild you really don't seem to understand how desperatly sick many of has been and still are, sometimes to the point of almost dying. I lost my marriage to this disease and it almost destroyed my career. I feel like I... -
ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
ianm replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Radman you need to understand that for most of us doctors have done far more harm than good to us. Aren't doctors supposed to first do no harm? It seems all doctors know how to do anymore is be dope dealers. We are thrilled that a doctor has FINALLY decided to take some initiative and learn about celiac. We don't mean to make any personal attacks but it is... -
Nini I don't know anything about your occupation so I can't offer any suggestions. There is a better job out there and this may be a sign to start looking. Good luck and hope all works out.

ARCHIVED How Strict Do We Need To Be?
ianm replied to radman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Cheating just isn't an option. My gut problems were fairly mild compared to a lot of other people here. My symptoms were obesity, chronic fatigue and crippling brain fog that nearly destroyed everything in my life. It took 36 years for my symptoms to reach that point. The problems were always there but they got progessively worse as I got older. When I get...
