More veggies or raw fruit will definitely bring on gas and bloating!
Another thought is advil...if she has taken any for of advil (other meds can certainly do it too) can make your stomach feel all sorts of weird feelings.

I am convinced that diet has EVERYTHING to do with psoriasis. Mom had it, and was under a dermatologists care for thirty years before she was diagnosed with Celiac. After she had been gluten free for awhile, her psoriasis completely and permanently went away.
Now, it's my turn. I have psoriasis, and for me, it is corn that I must avoid. That is hard because it seems there is corn in everything. I've been doing pretty well, and my psoriasis was totally gone until I had to take some Advil. (I threw away my generic ibuprofen because it contained gluten. The brand name doesn't, but it does have corn.) My psoriasis flared and started coming back.
My advice to you is, go whole foods only. Meat and veggies, and maybe some brown rice. After you've seen improvement in your psoriasis, then you can start adding back the things like potatoes and corn and see if it makes your P flare.
This is interesting! I don't know much about a corn free diet but it sounds like it's worth a shot to be rid of this crazy itching and be able to do my hair again! (I miss doing my hair and I think my husband does too, though he's too supportive to admit it to me). Is there any hidden corn sources I should know about?

Thanks! I just don't really trust many doctors any more since I've been through so much crap trying to figure out what's wrong with me. They tried to convince that I had a STD before...yeah it turns out I'm just gluten intolerance.

Can someone tell me the difference between DH and Psoriasis? I have tried to research it over the web and am getting conflicting reports. I was diagnosis psoriasis before any thought of going gluten-free on the basis that I had intense itching and white patches all over my scalp and a bright read underneath. I was given a steroid and it helped the symptoms, however it made my hair fall out so I was not going to keep taking it as my hair is very thin to begin with. I stopped using hair products of any kind besides shampoo and conditioner. I also stopped using a curling iron/straightener/blow dryer/etc. While it is better after I stopped using all of these things (while I was still eating gluten) and I no longer had chunks of hair and scalp fall on top my shirts any more, I still feel very itchy and have not noticed any change since going gluten-free. Does this sound like DH to any one?? Or does it sound more just like psoriasis?? I'm just trying to find a solution to the itching! Thanks!

So we basically are in the same boat with the GERD. I take Zegrid daily each morning which is just another PPI, but as far as I can tell it will be a life long thing unfortunately. The risks of doing the corrective surgery far out way the meds...or so i am lead to believe my by doctors!
Good luck with the gluten again and eat a big piece of warm french bread with olive oil and parmesan cheese for me! (okay I need to stop now before I convince myself one piece won't kill me ha ha) Hope it goes well

How can they list certain blizzard toppings as "gluten-free" if they are mixed in with all the ones that aren't?! That's insane! I was all excited until I read the part about them being used by the same machine - never mind. I won't risk it. A cool, minty treat is not worth the pain and suffering after.
However, I'm going to check around my neighbourhood to see if there is a cold stone creamery...sounds interesting...
The Coldstone by my house is awesome! They get out a separate container to mix my ice cream in with clean spatulas without me asking for them too! It's great

I would say that just because you have the gene does not mean you have to be gluten free. I do not have any signs and choose to be gluten-free because it makes me feel better. I have no proof from any sort of testing that I am Celiac, however all of my symptoms go away when I stop eating gluten. So if you eat gluten again in a gluten test and feel fine after a couple days or weeks then I would stay eating gluten...but that's just me
You also mention that your GERD still has not gotten better in all this time. When you had your colonoscopy did they look at your esophagus closely? I have struggled with GERD for a long time and during my colonoscopy the doctors discovered that I have a herniated esphogus...aka the valve/flap that allows your food to go down, but keeps your stomach acid from coming up too far does not work all and things are allowed to roam free up and down into places it shouldn't resulting in a constant feeling of GERD. I don't know if I'm way off track on that one for you, but it's just a thought to think about...

It is quite possible to have a delayed reaction to the gluten. I know when I get glutened my worst symptoms come in the following 24-48 hours.
Whether you want to go through with it is up to you. I do not need a test to tell me I can't have gluten. If it makes me feel so much better it's worth it no matter what the test results say. However, some people need to have a test result for them selves personally or for family members. So I guess getting tested is a personal decision

I would agree with Sylvia on the sourdough bread sounds shady.
However, I do not eat bread...I kind of just given up on the fact that it's going to taste great. I have tried Udi's and Rudi's and I don't bother with them. I get creative and eat lettuce wraps and things instead.

That's sort of what I was running into. I couldn't really find any reason to believe it. Plus I lick envelopes all the time and send out a lot of cards at Christmas without having a reaction which made me question it even more.

I heard that envelopes that you lick may very likely contain gluten and they should never be licked. Is this true? This seems strange to me, but I would believe it at the same time because gluten is everywhere.
Any thoughts??

It could very well be silent celiac or villous atrophy, but I won't go on about that because others have already talked about it.
It could also be related to PCOS. I have a friend of mine who was diagnosed with PCOS and a thyroid issue shortly before I went gluten free. We had very similar symptoms and I even considered getting tested for PCOS and thyroid. Maybe something to talk to your doctor about.

My twins Colton and Kat have been wanting to have toast with cheese for a while now and the bread we are currently using tastes a-lot like an English muffin. Now, I am not saying it is a bad thing, but it doesn't go well with cheese unless in a grilled cheese. We are using Udi's Sandwich Bread. Does anyone know of a bread that tastes more like actual bread?

I agree! We used to have a grilled cheese every Sunday night for dinner (before i was gluten-free) because my mom would make a big lunch and this was something us kids could make easily. I have not found any bread that tastes good wit it. I even tried to fancy up the sandwich with a parmesan cheese coating on the outside to help the bread out...there is just not a good way to have a grilled cheese sandwich that I have found

I get them at Jewel in the Midwest which I believe is the same as Albertsons and Super Valu. They are always available at my store as are many Schar products. I do not care for most bread, but I know many people do eat it and enjoy it. I ate gluten fro 25 years of my life and was very much in love with bread and pasta so for me eating gluten-free bread just isn't worth it for me. Maybe I shall have to go over seas to taste some good bread again!

I have not personally struggled with these, but I can tell you that A LOT of people on here have struggled with anxiety and depression issues. I haven't had heard of anyone who was diagnosed OCDC, but I think many people may think we are because of how diligent we have to be when being gluten-free! Many think we go overboard trying to keep from having cc. It's very possible to develop an eating disorder as well because after awhile of eating gluten and being in pain we no longer want to eat and this can lead to not wanting to eat all. Just my thoughts...hope your GI appointment goes well!

My blood work came back negative and I had a colonoscopy for other reasons shortly before that was "perfect" according to the doctor. Though going gluten-free I feel like I have my life back! I would not go back to eating gluten-free for anything.Healing can take a long time depending on how long and how serve your symptoms are. Just keep in mind no two people are the exact same with this. I actually stopped going to my GI because my primary care doctor knew more about gluten sensitive/intolerance and was a better resource than my GI. A lot is not really known/researched on non-celiac/gluten sensitivity which makes people like us hard to diagnosis.
I do not feel like I need a doctor to confirm what I already feel. Not eating gluten makes all the bad symptoms go away so I don't eat gluten...end of story. I don't need a professional to tell me how to make me happy or live my life--I'm just glad I finally figured it all out!

I haven't had a cold sore or canker sore since going gluten-free this past November! I used to get them all the time and now nothing...it was nice surprise!

I am still not diagnosed with anything by a medical doctor. My doctor refused to do a biopsy because my blood work was negative. I choose to eat gluten free because no doctor could help me and I needed to feel better. Long story short...I went on the diet felt fantastic and wouldn't go back on the diet for anything!
I used to have to have bloody bowel movements daily as well. As soon as i went gluten-free this went away within three weeks and I have never had one again!
I started feeling better in about 2/3 weeks...however from what I understand this is more common for those gluten intolerant/sensitive and those actually diagnosed with celiac can take much longer. This though varries from person to person and how much damage is done on the inside. Since you went back to eating gluten, it may take you much longer to feel better because you have a lot of healing to do.
I did not loose any weight. From what people say on here it can go either way or no way! Some people loose, some people gain, some stay the same!

Check out the recipe forum on here for great recipes. I would start by eating things naturally gluten-free. Tacos, stew, chicken, rice, hamburgers, kebabs, omlettes, etc. This will make you more willing to continue!

I was the same way. I had pasta at least 3 nights a week and a large portion of bread to go along with it! I didn't see any way to survive happily. However, the pay off will be more incentive that you can imagine! Hang in there! I personally don't eat gluten-free bread, though many find it worth while. If you are a baker I know people have a ton of success making it from certain blends of bread. Check out the baking forum on here for tips on that. I just use gluten-free betty crocker bake mixes. I also use gluten-free bisquick for a ton of different stuff. I still eat pasta. My favorite brand is tinkyada. It is a brown rice pasta and isn't too bad. Hang in there and stay on this board...you will find encouragement!

I soak things down with bleach and it usually breaks things down enough to break the crumbs and get rid of them. Another option is to put down some sort of liner. Maybe wax paper or aluminum foil or something to keep a barrier. You could always place tissue paper on top of the foil to make it look prettier and red/green tissue paper would give it a festive look as well. I would use them

My husband buys his own wings without breading. Sometimes he uses gluten-free bread crumbs, other times just plain. Then fried them in our home fryer (that is always gluten-free!!!) with his choice of sauce on top. Still tastes great, but safe at home!
